Although when we were living in our own countries, our culture/history background seemed very far apart. When we immigrated to America, our culture differences became insignificant compared to local Americans. If you are not Asian in ethnicity, as long as you are truly interested in Asian cultures, you are welcome to join. My name is Luke, I grow up in Taipei and I speak English and Mandarin. I earned my Bs and Ms Degrees in aerospace engineering from UCLA in 2002. I have worked as an engineer for many years. Currently, I am concentrating on investment. We will have outdoor activities every weekend, include but not limited to hiking, (beginner level) mountain climbing whenever weather is fair. The idea is to come to the indoor meetup first and get to know each other before going out together. The idea of ASIAN 2100 is sit down together and fully express ourselves with great or not so great ideas. When I was eight, I was told that Taiwan was not my home, my true home was in a village I have never heard of in the northern part of Mainland China. Although this eccentric idea seemed unacceptable for most people in Taiwan, it is the truth and the only truth. I later learned that Baze Malbus was born and grown up in the same village as my ancestors. After all, great people came from the same place. Chinese culture, language and politics will be one of the recurring theme throughout our future meetups. It is summer time, so free soft drinks will be provided to every meetup event. Seattle Area Monthly Camping - Share The Experience

This group is a once a month camping trip to areas within a 3 hour drive from the Seattle Metro.

The emphasis is on campers who like to camp, hike, explore the local town, raft, or just hang around a campfire with a book with the option of joining others for loosely organized activities.

You are responsible for booking your own campsite or finding another member to share. Place a happy face at your site to identify yourself as a meetup group member. We will provide sturdy yellow paper plates and markers.

We don't schedule every minute as we are mature enough to make connections to do things and know how to be on our own when we choose.

The meetup is a campfire on Saturday. This leaves attendees to choose what they love to do best during the day. After attending your first meetup, you'll have the names down and the organizers can guide you as to who likes to do what during the day.

We get along with all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds, but full disclosure: most of us practice the religion of "don't be a jerk", get our news from NPR vs. Fox News, and worship at the altar of Trevor Noah/John Oliver/John Stewart/Stephen Colbert. If any of this makes you gag, this is probably not your scene.

Modern Moms activities are mostly geared toward the infant/toddler/preschooler crew. We meet up at playgrounds, indoor play spaces, museums, libraries, and anywhere else that sounds fun and has the potential to wear out our kids/induce them to nap. We also do some mom-only activities including mom's night out.

Note:

An active group is a rad group, so we require that all new members attend at least 2-3 events per month. The vast majority of our meetups are on weekdays, often in the morning. Although many of us are stay at home moms, we also have several members who work outside the home with flexible or part time schedules.

We want to be as straightforward as possible in letting you know what this group is about and not wasting anyone's time, so MMM might not be a good fit if:

-You don't want to hear people complain about 45
-You don't vaccinate your kids for any reason other than a legit medical issue.
-You would be horrified at the sight of a fellow mom enjoying an occasional mimosa at a play date.
-You would be outraged if you heard a mom refer to her kid as an asshole
-You are a judgy sanctimommy about any of the following issues: breastfeeding vs. formula, cloth diapers vs. disposable, feeding your kids fast food sometimes, screen time, or any of the other potentially hot-button parenting issues.

**Meet Friends Playing Cards in Everett, WA** This is my first MeetUp group, and I vow to make it an active one. When you sign up you can count on me to help you make this group work for you. The theme is playing cards, but socializing is what MeetUp is all about, right? Playing cards is the easy way to have something interesting to do while trying meet other people. Since I live in Everett, WA and am going through the effort and money to make this happen, I of course will be hosting my events in or at least close to Everett. Euchre is my most recommended card game of choice because it is an easy social card game for several reasons: * It is an easy game to learn. * Each game takes no more than twenty minutes. * You never have to hold more than five cards in your hand at a time. * It is a partner's game for two teams of two each. * Strategy, luck, and risk all play a role, with luck sometimes being the equalizer. All that said, there are lots of other good card games including some for two players. With enough interest multiple different games might be possible.
