Clarington Pick-Up Flag Football (Co-Ed)

Bowmanville, ON

Hey everyone! I’m starting this Flag Football group for anyone who’s interested in playing after work, just for fun and to make new friends while getting some good physical exercise. Flag Football is great because there’s no contact involved, no blocks and no tackles. It’s a game made for everyone! And that’s why when we play, it’ll be Co-Ed and it’ll be open for beginners to the sport as well as experienced ones. I know I’m still pretty inexperienced when it comes to this sport, so no pressure if you feel like you’ve never tried this before. I will be supplying some of the flags and the Football (medium size, not regulation), but if you have flags lying at home somewhere, feel free to bring them. We’ll be playing 5-on-5, and we’ll be following Flag Football Canada regulations. So we do have to have at least 10 people willing to play. I have set the day and time to play on Wednesdays starting September 13th at 6pm, where we will be on the Clarington Fields in Bowmanville right by the Indoor Soccer Complex. This is all weather permitting, so if it happens to rain or if there’s snow, we’ll cancel the game. Just stay notified to this group whenever I make a post if we’re going or not. We’ll aim to play until we see the first real snowfall, and then we’ll take a break until mid-April or so, and pick up for the rest of the Summer What you need to play: Some outdoor shoes, preferably cleats Some comfortable clothes you workout in and can move freely Water That’s about it! Looking forward to seeing all of you there. Message me here or send me a DM if you have any questions

>>> AUTHENTIC NETWORKERS CODE OF HONOUR <<<

I will have a genuine conversation with someone before I pitch my business.

I will help other business owners make connections, if I can.

I will let others know who my ideal client is, so that they can help with connections.

I will refer people in my own network to my new contacts, when appropriate.

I will never disparage another member, or another business/industry, for my own gain (because I never know who else might be in the room!). I understand that if I do this, I may be removed from the group.

I will ask questions, learn more about others, and have fun!

--------------------

Real business isn’t done in board meetings; it’s done over a half-eaten plate of buffalo wings at the sports bar, or during the intermission of a Broadway show. It’s done through an enthusiastic greeting, with an unexpected recommendation, or by offering up your cab when it’s raining. It happens in the small personal interactions that allow us to prove to each other who we are and what we believe in.

Dragon Boat Training and Paddling in Toronto
As featured on [global news](https://globalnews.ca/video/9599501/torontos-only-dragon-boat-indoor-paddling-pool/) and [blogto!](https://www.blogto.com/fitness/afterburn-fitness-toronto/) Meet new people, get outside, move and learn to paddle with a dragon boat team! The origins of dragon boating are rooted in Chinese tradition for over 200 years. It has exploded across a wide variety of populations from recreational to elite athletes, able and special needs. It's growth can be attributed to it's need to have over 22 people on one team and the special bond that's created when training and racing with 10 women and 10 men together. It's the ultimate team sport. The Water Vipers Dragon Boat team is known for the last 14 years as a team that gets the most out of what it puts in whether its time, money and fun. We welcome people with experience and without and of all backgrounds. And if the timing or goals don't align we'll be able to refer you to other teams as I run a gym and paddling club dedicated to the sport. Our team trains indoors from October to April on Saturdays at 730am at Afterburn Fitness in Scarborough; Afterburnfitness.ca The sessions consist of one hour of paddling in a specialized pool (no swimming/ you won't get wet) and one hour of strength and conditioning training both instructed by certified coaches From May to September we paddle at Sunnyside Paddling Club twice a week on Wednesdays at 715pm and Saturdays at 930am. Accommodations can be made if the times don't workout great. Once a week is also possible. First session is free and subsequent one will be pro-rated for when you start and what you can do. Our typical water season costs are $600-$700 including practices, coaching and 4 races over the season (May to September) Check out our social: @watervipers, https://wvipers.wixsite.com/watervipers

THE GUILD | Real Friends TO East (20s/30s)

Scarborough, ON

THE GUILD | Real Friends TO East (20s/30s)
Welcome to the Toronto East Kingdom Real Friends Guild Meetup! --- **TLDR:** We are a diverse and welcoming group young adults (20s-30s) primarily based in Toronto's East End. The goal of this group is to create a community of REAL, authentic humans, where everyone can find a sense of belonging. We all need genuine connections, and sometimes a hug, in this busy megacity. We want to be “strangers” turned friends and participate in a wide selection of activities together. There will be FREE events, and there will be PAID, managed events. We just want to experience life together, help each other, and learn while having fun. --- **ACTIVITIES TO EXPECT:** * Cafe/restaurant meets and chats (very casual and * Speed friendship events * Boardgames meetups * Movie nights * Team sports meetups * Beginner friendly workout meetups * Scavenger hunts! * Nature walks / hikes * Online gaming nights *** A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE WHY'S AND HOW'S This meetup group is created as part of a much larger project that I (Zeal) am trying to assemble. For now the group will ficus on young adults in their 20s & 30s. The bigger purpose is to address and tackle the epidemic of loneliness in our society. Any of you who may be interested may approach me freely and let me know if you want to be part of this project. The problem of loneliness in our modern world and society is well documented, but at this time it is at a peak. Toronto is one of the loneliest cities in the world according to recent data (although more needs to be done on the research). Furthermore, personally I think in-person meetups plummeted in Canada since the pandemic, and the number of meetup groups also decreased. I could not find many meetup events in the East End in recent months, so I decided to create one. What I hope to achieve from this group is to create a regular routine of having 2-3 in-person meetups a month (for most months) so that we can truly create a community that people can belong to. This is our best way of combating loneliness in big cities - deliberately coming together to form communities, learn about each other, accpet each other, share moments and memories together. I aim to personally curate certain events to make things more fun. For example, speed friendship events (like speed dating, but a lot more casual and chill), cozy introvert hangouts, online gameshows, and perhaps city-wide scavenger hunts someday 😅. This is not my first time doing this though. I have managed 2 meetup groups in the past (in Toronto & Vancouver), and have organized and managed events for 10+ years on and off. So, I do know some of the challenges we may face. That is also why some events will be PAID events - there is cost in hosting a meetup group, and organizing events. In order to integrate this community further and share more opportunities to connect and participate, the group members will have access to a Discord server in the future. WIth that being said... Join us to connect with like-minded individuals and become part of not only fighting loneliness, but creating a genuine community together that may just become the best experience in your Toronto life! :)
