Yorkshire Climbers
We are a group based in West Yorkshire, for people who want to climb or have days out in the hills and mountains. The group has being going for 12yrs (as of Jan 22). We are a very busy, friendly group with a small core of enthusiastic, committed and experienced climbers. When the weather allows meet weekly to climb outdoors (mainly 'Trad' but some 'sport') alongside regular bouldering meets, during the summer months and as often as the weather allows during the winter. We also meet at least weekly indoors at climbing walls (mainly Big Depot on Thursdays, further afield Harrogate, Sheffield etc on Sundays). During the summer months we have several residential meets in the Lakes and Snowdonia, staying in YHAs, bunkbarns or camping, and now have a 'Winter Escape' trip to Spain. We are also giving some thought to walks, social events and more European climbing destinations. **We need to make it clear that, whilst some of us have years of experience, we are not instructors or professionally qualified to teach climbing and we are not responsible for teaching new climbers to belay etc.** **If you are new to climbing:** please join us when you have completed the wall's induction programmes: for boulderers this is generally basic instruction, for lead climbing you will need to have completed a relevant course in top rope belaying and lead belaying **Climbers:** those who are already competent and can sign themselves in can come along to any event. **Membership:** £10 for the year to cover the meetup costs. We ask you to pay once you start climbing with us on a regular basis. We have a number of spare harnesses, pairs of shoes, helmets and belay devices which we can lend out (please let us know before the meeting whether you need to borrow anything. Alternatively, equipment can be hired at climbing walls. Additionally, before joining us you should read the BMC participation statement which states: "The BMC recognize that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement." If you do not accept full responsibility for for your own actions and involvement in any outdoor activities please do not join this group, Yorkshire Climbers cannot accept responsibility for the actions of its members and advises everyone to get adequate insurance for the activities they want to take part in, Insurance details can be found on the BMC site. So, if you think this is for you, come along and experience the fun of climbing!!!

Greater Manchester Rock Climbing

Manchester, 18

Greater Manchester Rock Climbing
**So, you're looking for a new active hobby to get involved in and you're not sure where to start. Or perhaps you're already an avid rock climber, dancing across the walls with grace and are simply looking for others with whom to share the experience.** Whatever your reason, and whatever your level,[ Greater Manchester Rock Climbing ](http://www.meetup.com/Greater-Manchester-Rock-Climbing/)is here to provide you with a chance to get active, meet new people, and have some fun! Currently, the venue for the group will be [Rock Over Climbing](http://www.rockoverclimbing.co.uk/) **in Manchester**, one of the North West's premier world class bouldering centres. The reason for this is that it's central to Manchester so highly accessible for all members, it provides excellent climbing routes for all levels and we have established an excellent relationship with the staff who work there. At each Meetup, we will introduce ourselves, and make sure you feel welcome and at ease, especially if this is your first time climbing! **Beginners are usually split up into small groups and assigned to an experienced climber to ensure that we maximise climb time for your first time.** We usually climb for two hours, although if there is a large amount of us, we will more than likely split into smaller groups and spread out across the centre, so that we all get a good amount of climbing time. Once beginners are comfortable with what they have learnt, it is expected that you will progress to climb with our more experienced members. However, members are never forced to climb with a particular group and are always welcome to remain with beginners until they feel comfortable to move on. **After the climb, we often go for a post-climb meal and/or drink** depending on who is available, and this provides everyone with a great opportunity to discuss the routes they've done with other climbers, as well as socialise in an informal setting. We encourage ALL new members to attend this if they can as it gives you an excellent opportunity to get to know more of our members in a social setting and provides a familiar face the next time you attend. **Prices for first time climbers at Rock Over are £13 plus £3 shoe hire for a total cost of £16. (Concession £12 and £3 for NHS/Students)** **HOWEVER...** If after your first session you wish to become a regular member of our group and believe you will be attending our sessions throughout the year, **you can pay an optional fee of £10** which will provide you with your own Official Membership, as well as allow you to access the following benefits at Rock Over Climbing: **£8.50 climb with £1 shoe/chalk hire. Any day. Any time. This provides you with a substantial reduction on entry fee and shoe hire for 12 months from your date of purchase, meaning if you plan to climb more than twice in 12 months, you'll save more money in the long run!** Membership sign up is available on **gmrockclimbing.com** but payment will be handled by the [Group Organiser ](http://www.meetup.com/Greater-Manchester-Rock-Climbing/members/56727072/)to every session, so speak to them and *not* Rock Over staff. You will be able to access this offer **for 12 months from the day you purchase your membership**, at which point you will have to purchase a new annual pass if you wish to continue to access the deal. To access the above benefits, please speak to an organiser (usually Glenn) who will inform staff of your sign up, but if you have any issues getting in with membership, please show staff the gmrockclimbing pass so that they can see you are a member with us. If you have **any questions** about the group, or any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us on the Meetup app. **Even if it is just to say hello or inform me that you're looking forward to the next event! However, I suggest new members to look at the event details for our Sunday climb as this answers many questions that you may have.** You can also check our[ FAQ's page ](http://www.meetup.com/Greater-Manchester-Rock-Climbing/files/)which may answer some of your initial questions. :) We look forward to seeing you at the next climb! Glenn, Tom, Lucia, Fes, Nat, Ragha, Alex, and Kim. **DISCLAIMER: By joining Greater Manchester Rock Climbing Meetup Group you agree to take full responsibility for your own actions when taking part in our hosted events and also when climbing on the walls. Any injury that you sustain as a result of taking part in one of our events is your own responsibility. Greater Manchester Rock Climbing Meetup takes no responsibilities for any injuries or accidents that occur in this manner.** Please note: Rock Over have the right to withdraw from the membership offer at any time, however unlikely. Your membership with us will still be in place but there may be a period where no offers are active with rock climbing organisations.

Men's gay/bi/trans/straight inclusive football in Manchester

Are you gay? Are you bi? Are you straight? Are you trans? We don't care!

Village Manchester Football Club is a gay and inclusive club that welcomes anyone who loves football - gay, bi or straight. We have players from every sexuality, race, nationality and age - our youngest player is 18 and our oldest well into his 50's. Currently all our members are male as FA rules means we can't play women - you are very welcome to attend training but we suggest you check out Manchester Laces FC for women's football.

Football training for new members:

Get in touch to find out about our welcome sessions for new players.

All training and most home games are at:

Trinity Sports Centre

Cambridge Street (pedestrians)

Boundary Lane (car park)

Behind Manchester University

M15 6HP

Brand new 3G (4G) pitch - no metal studs/blades and wear any sports/training gear.

We are looking for new players of all abilities. We split training into groups to cater for different skills.

Our first and second teams play in a local league on Saturday afternoons and our third and fourth teams on Sunday mornings. We also have a fifth team that plays friendlies. Having five teams means there's a place for you to play, whatever your ability on the pitch.

We take part in the national Gay Football Supporters' Network Cup, giving us weekends away throughout the UK.

We play against gay and straight teams, take part in national tournaments and organise an overseas trip most years (we've been to Rome, Paris, Miami, Stockholm, Hamburg, Budapest, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Barcelona to name a few).

We campaign to rid football of homophobia, but mostly we are about playing competitive football.

Get in touch now. It's free for you to try out, so what have you got to lose? There's an awful lot to gain: football, fitness and some of the best mates you'll ever have!

We don't care who you love, as long as you love football!
