.NET Meetup - North East

Ingleby Barwick, J7

.NET Meetup - North East
We run a dedicated .NET meetup that takes place in Newcastle, Leeds and online. It’s an informal chance to chat all things .NET with people in your industry and speak to sector specialists, with the option of some laid-back networking with free food and drink. Come along and you’ll find a group of .NET professionals working in the tech industry. We’ll be talking about best practices and latest developments in tech, making introductions to people who’ll boost your network, and hosting a speaker. ***What’s the event about?*** Each of our Meetups covers .NET tech and we change the topic every time. Previous events have covered ML.NET, gRPC, C# 11 and .NET 7. We’ll have a speaker who’ll spend 45 minutes or so telling you what they know about their chosen topic. Then, if they have time, they’ll mingle with the crowd afterwards so you can pick their brains and connect with others with the same ideas, questions and ambitions as you. ***Why should I come along?*** Great speakers, food and drink, and the chance to connect with other people in your industry. If you’re currently a .NET dev or aspiring to be, you’ll grow your network with people in your sector who can share information and make introductions that’ll help your career and company grow. ***I can’t make it. But I don’t want to miss out.*** No worries. We aim to record our events when we can and put them on YouTube Subscribe and you’ll be the first to find any videos we upload. We also hold plenty of Meet Up events throughout the year. So if this one clashes with something else in your diary, join the group as a member and you’ll be notified about the next one as soon as we fix a date. **Joining us? Great! Here’s what you’ll need to know:** ***What time does it start, and how long does it last?*** Our events all begin at 5:30pm, and last around an hour and a half. If you want, you can stay longer and chat. But we wrap up the official stuff around 7.30pm. That way, you’re making a post-work stop and getting home in time to put your feet up. Running late? Our speakers usually start at 6.15pm. ***How much does it cost?*** Nothing – the event’s free. ***Where can I park?*** We pick venues near car parks and train stations for a quick win after work. In Leeds, there's usually plenty of spaces outside the venue. In Newcastle, we suggest anywhere on Grainger Street. ***Will there be food?*** No one wants to network on an empty stomach, so we’ll provide free pizza. There’ll be free soft drinks and alcohol-free options too. Have any allergies? Let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you ***Do I need to bring anything?*** You’ll probably want to bring a notepad, laptop or use your phone’s notes app to write down some tips from our speakers or the name of a new contact. ***Anything else you need to know?*** Drop us a line: hello@getqudos.com

North York Moors Walking Group

Danby, J7

North York Moors Walking Group
This friendly group walks mainly in the North York Moors, Wolds, Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale and Co. Durham. We also organise trips to the Peak District, Lake District, Northumberland and Scotland, and longer trips to mainland Spain, Majorca and Tenerife. Most of our walks end up in a cafe or pub for those that fancy it! Event Hosts are unpaid volunteers who put on walks for the good of the group. Event Hosts have access to set up walks, but any member can do the same. So if members have a walk they are willing to put on please contact the Group Organiser or Co-Organiser to do so. Event Hosts and Organisers do not purport to have professional walk leading qualifications or first aid qualifications in the event of an accident. All members are required to take responsibility to ensure their own health enables them to complete any event and to care for their own safety. The group and its organisers accept no such responsibility. Photos: All members are expected to have a recognisable photo on their profile, so that we can recognise you at an event. Some Event Hosts welcome dogs, some don't! Please remember that this is a walking group and please don't take offence if the Event Host states no dogs - there may be a very good reason for not allowing dogs such as passing through fields of cows, sheep or game birds. All members should have appropriate clothing and footwear. On average a walk may take around five hours with breaks for something to eat, which you will have brought with you. Average length of walk can be around ten miles - sometimes less, sometimes more. What is more important is generally the ascent and descent indicator which most walk descriptions include as well as distance. If you see a walk you are interested in then RSVP for it. You may get on the walk or will be moved to a wait list if full. If you end up on the wait list then be patient, things can change. Under normal circumstances most people will get on a walk because the Event Hosts may change numbers going to accommodate when able to do so. Frequently if Event Hosts see a large number on wait lists then they may put another walk on to allow more members to walk. If you RSVP as going then please change this if you then can't go. We do sometimes have problems where a member effectively blocks anyone else going on a walk because they have not removed themselves from going or wait listed. If you repeatedly don't turn up for a walk without notifying someone, then it is likely to result in your removal as a member. But finally please make good use of the group - many friendships exist as a result and lives are changed. Enjoy!
