North York Moors Walking Group

Danby, J7

North York Moors Walking Group
This friendly group walks mainly in the North York Moors, Wolds, Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale and Co. Durham. We also organise trips to the Peak District, Lake District, Northumberland and Scotland, and longer trips to mainland Spain, Majorca and Tenerife. Most of our walks end up in a cafe or pub for those that fancy it! Event Hosts are unpaid volunteers who put on walks for the good of the group. Event Hosts have access to set up walks, but any member can do the same. So if members have a walk they are willing to put on please contact the Group Organiser or Co-Organiser to do so. Event Hosts and Organisers do not purport to have professional walk leading qualifications or first aid qualifications in the event of an accident. All members are required to take responsibility to ensure their own health enables them to complete any event and to care for their own safety. The group and its organisers accept no such responsibility. Photos: All members are expected to have a recognisable photo on their profile, so that we can recognise you at an event. Some Event Hosts welcome dogs, some don't! Please remember that this is a walking group and please don't take offence if the Event Host states no dogs - there may be a very good reason for not allowing dogs such as passing through fields of cows, sheep or game birds. All members should have appropriate clothing and footwear. On average a walk may take around five hours with breaks for something to eat, which you will have brought with you. Average length of walk can be around ten miles - sometimes less, sometimes more. What is more important is generally the ascent and descent indicator which most walk descriptions include as well as distance. If you see a walk you are interested in then RSVP for it. You may get on the walk or will be moved to a wait list if full. If you end up on the wait list then be patient, things can change. Under normal circumstances most people will get on a walk because the Event Hosts may change numbers going to accommodate when able to do so. Frequently if Event Hosts see a large number on wait lists then they may put another walk on to allow more members to walk. If you RSVP as going then please change this if you then can't go. We do sometimes have problems where a member effectively blocks anyone else going on a walk because they have not removed themselves from going or wait listed. If you repeatedly don't turn up for a walk without notifying someone, then it is likely to result in your removal as a member. But finally please make good use of the group - many friendships exist as a result and lives are changed. Enjoy!

Lets Get Social! Scarborough

Lets Get Social! Scarborough
***[Let's Get Social! Scarborough](https://www.meetup.com/lets-get-social-scarborough/events/)*** is to encourage like minded people to get together. We arrange social events, or any other kind of events to promote Scarborough and its surrounding areas. Everyone is welcome and included! We are here to make new friendships and share interests 😀 As a group, we are inclusive, friendly and our socials are in well known areas and venues. Most of our events are also hosted, so there's a key contact. We understand people can often feel nervous or apprehensive which is why all our events are organised by our new Scarborough based, hosting team. Our aim is for **[Let's Get Social! Scarborough](https://www.meetup.com/lets-get-social-scarborough/events/)** seasider's to have a good experience, so please ensure you have a good profile photo so we know who to look out for & we ask that you're courteous & respectful to fellow Socialiser's. **What to expect:** * Socials planned in popular venues, close to bus/ train routes, * A clear meeting point/ description/ timing of the social & who the host is, * Friendly & welcoming host/ members. We cannot guarantee we can reserve specific seating areas for you if for example you have a disability. Whilst we will aim to accommodate you we will not accept complaints if hosts cannt adhere to your requests. * On occasion we may publish a social event without a host (usually because it's not organised by us), but we've added it on the site for awareness, * Any complaints or issues e.g. inappropriate messaging/ fall outs within the group, will be handled by the organiser & a fair/ objective/ factual approach will be taken, * Any complaints or issues e.g. personal fallouts, outside of the group can be made to the organiser for awareness only. We do not get involved with anyone else's personal or private situations, we strongly advise you do not post negative comments on the meetup platform about other members. Please raise any concerns to the Organisers first * **What not to expect:** * Disruption - personal conflicts are to be kept off the group & we would encourage any issues to be discussed & hopefully resolved. If personal conflicts cannot be resolved, then we advise common sense is applied & people do not attend the same socials, * We are a safe, inclusive group, therefore, bullying/ harmful gossip/ racism/ sexism/ lewd behaviour is not tolerated & the person will be removed, * Cancellations - it's not often we cancel a social, however, if we do it's due to very low numbers/ an issue with the venue or severe weather. **Disclaimer (the serious bit!):** *We* want everyone to have an enjoyable social and we aim to choose the best venues & locations. Attending our socials is at your own discretion & we advise that you read the social description/ meeting location/ time of the social meetup/ updated meetup comments & familiarise yourself with the host & the guest list. We are NOT responsible for the member's journey to the social, the member finding the venue, any purchases made by the member e.g. food, drinks, tickets. We do not tolerate racist, sexist, lewd, aggressive or bullying behaviour & if this happens we will remove you from the group. We also advise people not to bring personal conflict with others into the group as this can cause disruption. Any comments published that are discourteous to others or undermine the host will be deleted. We are NOT responsible for clashes of personality or differences of opinion and if this happens at the social we advise you to walk away & converse with someone else. Plus one's (guests) are welcome on the group, however it's important that people attending socials know who they are meeting, so we would ask that any guests DO join the group after attending at least two socials & upload a clear profile. **Thanks, [Caroline](https://www.meetup.com/members/68739222/) (Group Organiser) and Randy (Co-Organiser)**
