Edinburgh Board Gamers
If you are into modern board games, then this is the group for you! We play all sorts of titles from Ticket to Ride to Game of Thrones to Codenames. If you were expecting Monopoly or Cluedo, there's a link for you at the end of the description. We are very welcoming of people new to the tabletop gaming hobby, and nothing makes us happier than helping another person discover new games. Many of the events have a variety of lighter games which are easy to get into, with plenty of interaction and opportunity to have fun. We are focused on the friendly, social side of gaming for both strategy and casual gamers alike! We've come a long way since a dozen people in a pub and have running costs. If you like what we do please support the club on Patreon: [https://www.patreon.com/EdinburghBoardGamers](https://www.patreon.com/EdinburghBoardGamers) We have a Facebook page: ( [here](https://www.facebook.com/groups/EdinburghBoardGamers) ). The group also has a Discord server: [https://discord.gg/CYb5JC3](https://discord.gg/CYb5JC3) Join them to be up to date with announcements, last minute changes etc. Meetup is not 100% reliable. We also have a guild on BoardGameGeek ( [here ](https://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/993)). Confused about why we don't play Monopoly? Edinburgh Professionals

Edinburgh Professionals
Welcome Edinburgh Professionals This group is for anybody who wants to make new friends. It's all about fun and enjoying life. We love to do indoor and outdoor events. wide range of walks for all abilities, great nights out, cinema, and cultural events (Edinburgh Fringe, theatre).  We also like to meet up and watch sporting events whilst enjoying a few liquid refreshments. If you're up for it, join up, and meet other Edinburgh Professionals. We're a friendly group and have had some great meet-ups and will have some more great meetups in the future. There are three main aims of this group.              -   To have active organisers and active group members.              -   To have regular events (usually weekly).              -   To try to have fun in and around the Edinburgh Area To achieve these aims group members must observe the following: **a)**  You must have a photo (of yourself) before you can join up.  This is so that you can recognise the organisers when you come to a meet-up for the first time.  A photo also helps the group's organisers to recognise you. **b**)  There is currently an annual £5.00 membership fee for this group.  However, you have 30 DAYS FREE TRIAL to see if this group is for you. For each large meetup group, subscriptions to MEETUP are currently $350 a year.  Your £5 will help pay for the running of this group. There are several ways to pay this fee [Click here to pay](https://buy.stripe.com/6oE5nqb3p69a3MQfYZ) **BACS** Please contact me for my bank details. **c**)  Please keep your RSVP updated at all times. If you have RSVP'd **YES** to a meetup but cannot come then please change your RSVP to **NO** at least 2 hours before the event starts. We usually check who is coming to the event before the event starts so we know who and how many to expect. **d)** The **PLUS 1** option is for people visiting or people trying out the group. Please encourage people to join rather than use this option frequently as it isn't fair on paying members. If a member constantly adds a **PLUS 1** they may be removed from events to give paying members a chance to get a space. **e)**   Please do not write any abusive comments.  They will be deleted and you may be removed from the group.   However, feel free to comment on an event as it is always good to communicate with fellow members of the group. **f**)  When you receive an invite to a new meetup there is no need to RSVP **NO** unless you change it from a **YES.** **g)**    Location - For each meetup, please check the meetup details.  This should tell you where to meet and at what time. We don't want people getting lost when they are trying to get to a meetup. **h)**  **NO SHOWS -  Three No Shows and you will be removed from the group.  That is why you must keep your RSVP updated at all times.  This rule also applies to people who often change their RSVP to a NO at the last minute.** **i)**   A member may be removed from the group if they have not attended any event in the last 4 months.  You may rejoin the group if you are removed if you want to come to an event. j) You must be able to be contacted by an Event Organiser. If you have private options set up in Meetup and this is not possible you will be removed from the group. We have had in past a need to contact members and this caused frustration with Event Organisers. **k)** If you would like to host a meetup or if you have any suggestions for a meetup then feel free to message one of the organisers. Remember this is YOUR group and I welcome any new ideas to make this meetup group successful. Paul and all the Event Organisers

Edinburgh BAME Social Meetup Group

Edinburgh, V5

Edinburgh BAME Social Meetup Group
Update 7th July 2024. Hi all, Just a wee message to say that as the group has been going for over a year and has cost over £330 in meetup site fees- we are now asking members to contribute only £1 for any event you attend to go towards paying the site fees. The group belongs to us all and so I hope you will support the group to continue putting on a range of events for your enjoyment. Thank you. This is a relatively new and very friendly group for BAME people, that's Black, Asian and minority ethnic people. The group is for those who would like to meet new people, make new friends and have much more fun in their lives. There will be lots of events where you can get to know other BAME people in Edinburgh- although you do not have to live in Edinburgh to join. Socials will include live music and theatre, beautiful walks in and around Edinburgh, eating out, coffee/chats, discussions/debates, fun sports, beach days, picnics/BBQ's, day trips, ceilidh's/disco's, galleries/museums. Once the group is established we can expand the socials to many other fun and interesting events/activities that members would like to happen. This meetup group is for BAME adults 18 plus as I want it to be as inclusive as possible and you can have fun at any age. Life is short and we must make the most of every minute. So young or old- you can have more fun in life so come and get some! I am of mixed heritage and want to create a genuinely warm, welcoming, relaxed and supportive space for BAME people to get more fun out of life - so if that sounds like something you'd like to be part of then please do join the group. You'll be given a genuinely warm welcome. Now for the legal stuff. As all events/activities will be run by volunteers there is no public liability insurance of any kind attached to this group for any events/activities you may attend -therefore group volunteers/organisers will not be held legally liable for any loss, damage, mishaps, accidents or injury incurred during this groups activities/events. Everything in life has some kind of risk attached and it is therefore your own responsibility to make a judgement and to risk assess whether you are able safely to take part and complete any of the group events/activities and you will do so at your own risk. If you encounter any difficulties during an event/activity you should advise the organiser or fellow group members as soon as possible to enable assistance to be arranged at an early stage. By clicking 'yes' at the RSVP to any event/activity of this meetup group you are accepting these conditions in their entirety. Please note that if you RSVP to attend an event and do not attend that if you do this three times you will be removed as a member. This is because some events have limited places and if you do not turn up you are stopping someone else from having that place. All it takes is one click to change your RSVP from attend to not attending and it inconsiderate to other members and the host of the event not to turn up.   Also, please keep a look out for any emails from the event host for events/activities you have booked to attend as plans can change for many reasons and may also have important information in them. I hope you will enjoy being part of this community. Avril Kelbie.
