Walnut Creek - Hiking, Biking, Happy Hour

Walnut Creek, CA

Walnut Creek - Hiking, Biking, Happy Hour
This is a social, active, and friendly group. We want to get to know you, so it's **REQUIRED** that you provide a picture of your face without glasses or a hat on (please) or we will not be able to approve you. Greetings! Looking for like-minded people who want to participate in a variety of events such as hiking, biking (fun rides), kayaking, fitness/boot camps, wine tasting, picnics/BBQs, live music, dancing, happy hours, movies, bowling, camping, rafting, day trips (SF, Napa, Monterey, etc.), weekend excursions (Tahoe, Vegas Baby!), comedy clubs, sporting events, networking, new friendships and what else? We are very open to suggestions! Don't be shy! Join in on the fun! For all the new members, you will find our group to be inviting, friendly, and full of warm and caring folks. Invite your friends, too! We are a mix of active single AND couples that want to expand/build their network of friendships with people in the East Bay who like to do similar activities. We're simply trying to gather a bunch of active and kind people, who like to have fun, mingle with others, and try new things. This is a safe space for our members and we have a zero tolerance policy for deviant behavior. We also have an attendance policy, it’s not something we enjoy doing but we need to know headcount when we are setting up at venues. We require 24 hours notice on cancellations. Less than 24 hours notice is considered a no show, 3 no shows is a 30 day time out. Thanks for your understanding.

Walnut Creek Pickup Ultimate Frisbee (Beg. / Intermediate)

Walnut Creek, CA

Walnut Creek Pickup Ultimate Frisbee (Beg. / Intermediate)

This is a Meetup for those interested in playing a friendly, co-ed Ultimate Frisbee game in Civic Park in Walnut Creek on Monday evenings, warm-up 5pm and start around 5:15/5:30pm- and Saturday mornings, warm-up 9:30 and start around 9:45/10:0am.

No previous experience with Ultimate Frisbee is required, but basic throwing and catching skills are appreciated (and folks are generally happy to help you if you ask, especially during warm up).
Ultimate Frisbee is a non contact sport meaning no physical contact is allowed between players.
We do most of our organizing on Facebook - so if you have found us here, and want to be sure to see the latest updates, go to: Walnut Creek Novice-Intermediate Ultimate Frisbee and join there as well.

Recommended items to bring: exercise clothes, cleats, both a light shirt and dark shirt (to switch teams as necessary), sunscreen, hydration, and first aid. Extra discs and cones are a plus, but we have enough.

RSVPs for those planning to attend (not those who regretfully cannot participate) are encouraged, as it helps us determine whether there are enough people to have a game, especially as some folk come from far awayto play, so please keep your status up to date.

Civic Park is a free public park, and space is not reserved. Though space is shared with other members of the public, we have not had trouble with games at this time.

Dues for this Meetup: We welcome contributions to help defray the small cost of Meetup. $5-20 to Jan when you see him.
Thank you for reading, and we look forward to seeing you on the field!

Bay Area Dancing for Singles and Couples

Concord, CA

Bay Area Dancing for Singles and Couples
The "Dancing with the Stars" series has sprouted new and enduring interest in partnered social dancing. For more information about dancing in general, as well as local dance bands and venues (many of which offer classes), be sure to check out the info and links below. If you're new to partnered social dancing, you should know that the emphasis is on "social." It doesn't matter if you're single, married, or otherwise coupled, or what your gender orientation of sexual identification is. People invite other people to dance for 3 minutes of amicable connection on the dance floor. It's all about having fun while getting exercise. While some people prefer to dance only with the person who accompanied them to the dance, they are in the minority. Every accomplished social dancer will agree that the best dancers are those who dance with multiple partners, which will be evident once you have clocked some hours on the dance floor. The social dancers' code is to be polite and kind, and welcoming of new and beginning dancers, or those who may not be as skillful as they are, and to remember that everyone was a beginner at one time. Since dancing is a sport as well as a social activity, safety and etiquette are paramount to assure a good time at a dance and in class. The best dance teachers will emphasize these areas equally with steps, skill and technique. If you are interested in lessons, check out the [Info About the Dance Venues](https://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Dancing-for-Singles-and-Couples/pages/21264985/Info_About_the_Dance_Venues) link below, and also note that many of the dance events posted here are preceded by dance lessons. If you like the teacher, inquire about where s/he teaches. Ask other dancers for recommendations about teachers and lessons. See you on the dance floor! [Info About Bay Area Dance Bands](https://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Dancing-for-Singles-and-Couples/pages/21284443/Info_About_Bay_Area_Dance_Bands) [Info About the Dance Venues](https://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Dancing-for-Singles-and-Couples/pages/21264985/Info_About_the_Dance_Venues) FYI/please note -- when someone posts a recurring event on Meetup, Meetup automatically assigns that person (a) as host for the event; and (b) as intending to go. This may not be the case for the person who posted the event (i.e., they're hosting and/or attending), and it would be too burdensome to update each occurrence of each repeating event to correct this Meetup annoyance. Therefore, please do not assume that the person listed as "host" will actually be hosting the event, or that s/he will be in attendance.

East Bay Professionals Social Circle

Walnut Creek, CA

Who we are:

It’s difficult to meet other people while caught up with our careers, in grad school, or while in job transition.

So instead of staying in, why not go out, meet new people, make new friends, try new things, and see new places?

This group is for professionals (single or not) living and/or working in the East Bay who would like to expand their circle of friends, have a good time socializing, appreciating good conversation, and enjoying the area.

Our goals:

• Establish friendships in a positive and supportive environment.*

• Organize safe and fun events where everyone feels welcome and comfortable.

• Connect with responsible hosts and attendees who show up to events for which they are signed up.

*Anyone found bullying or harassing other members in the online discussion forum or in person at events will be removed from the group.

Our activities:

Activities in this Meetup are mostly concentrated in the East Bay (Alameda, Berkeley, Concord, Dublin, Oakland, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek), but also venture into the City.

Our Meetups range from outdoor activities such as hiking, bbqs, sports lessons, and wine tasting to happy hours, dining out, and movies, as well as exploring local festivals, museums, theater, and live music.

If you have additional suggestions as to which types of activities we should schedule, please feel free to post in the Discussions forum.

If you have attended 5 or more events within 3 months, you are eligible to host your suggested event!

PLEASE READ OUR 3 EASY RULES : )

1. RSVP Policy: 3 'No Shows' to an event, and you are OUT! A 'No Show' constitutes as flaking right before the meetup or just not showing up, without informing the host ahead of time.

2. Profile photo and first name required:
We have found that having a face to put with a name makes the group safer.**

**If you do not wish to post your photo, please contact the organizers and we will work with your special circumstances.

3. Donation/Fee:
We may ask for a nominal donation/fee to be a member of this group in the future.

Why do we ask for a nominal donation/fee?

Meetup charges the Organizer $180/year to maintain the group (We do NOT work for Meetup and there is NO profit).

It also takes the Organizer a lot of time to create great events, make reservations, coordinate with business owners, secure venues, and make other accommodations.

Brentwood Pickup Co-ed Soccer

Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, our group offers a welcoming environment for players of all skill levels to come together, enjoy the sport, and build lasting friendships on and off the field. But we're not just about the game. In addition to our regular matches, we also organize a variety of social events that bring our members together in fun and engaging ways. From post-game BBQs and picnics to movie nights and trivia competitions, there's always something happening off the pitch to foster camaraderie and community spirit. So whether you're looking to sharpen your skills, meet new people, or simply have a great time, join us for some soccer and socializing – we can't wait to welcome you to the team! **Basic Housekeeping:** 1. **Safety First**: Always prioritize safety on the field. This means refraining from overly aggressive tackles or actions that may cause injuries. Let's remember that it's just a pickup game, and we're all here to have fun. No slide tackling allowed. 2. **Attitude:** Please bring a positive and respectful attitude. Zero tolerance for fights or abusive language/behavior. 3. **Respect Your Teammates:** We come from various backgrounds and skill levels. Treat all players with respect, regardless of their abilities. Encourage one another and offer constructive feedback when necessary. 4. **Pass the Ball**: Soccer is a team sport, and sharing the ball makes the game more enjoyable for everyone. Keep in mind that hogging the ball and attempting to do everything yourself can lead to frustration and hinder teamwork. So, pass the ball to your teammates, and trust that they will do the same for you. 5. **Fair Play:** Remember that pickup games are not a competition for trophies. Play fairly, and don't exploit the rules. If there's a dispute, resolve it amicably and keep the game enjoyable for everyone. Organizers will be responsible to organize the teams for fair play. At any given time, during a live game, if needed, organizers can shuffle the players to keep a good balance throughout the game and everyone enjoys. 6. **Inclusivity**: Soccer is for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or skill level. Encourage new players to join in and make them feel welcome. We're a community of soccer enthusiasts, and we want everyone to feel part of the game. We play with rotating goalies. Please do your part to defend. 7. **RSVPs and Waitlist**: Players must RSVP on the Meetup app in order to play. If you do not clear the Waitlist, or did not RSVP, please do not show up as you will NOT be allowed to join the game. 1. **No-Shows** \- Please update your RSVPs on the Meetup app \(no later than 1 hour before game time\) if your plans change so that others can be added to the game\. We will track RSVPing players who no show repeatedly\. 2. **Arrive on Time:** If you have RSVPed, please make sure you arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled kick-off time. 3. **Game Cancellation:** We need a minimum of 10 confirmed RSVPs for the game to happen. If we don't have 10 RSVPs by at least 1 hour prior to scheduled kick off time, game will be cancelled. 8. **Leaving in middle of the live game:** To maintain continuity of the game, please do not walk off the field during the game unless you are injured or need water. Please try to stay for the whole game. Leaving early is as disruptive as arriving late. 9. **Equipment:** Please bring water, shin guards, and cleats. Organizers will provide bibs, goals, soccer-balls and cones. 10. **Contributions**: Your contributions/donations help pay for cones, goals, bibs, soccer balls and meetup subscription fees for the organizers. This is a non-profit community based group, so please contribute by donating minimum of $12 (or more) through meetup app or by paying in cash/vending app. Remember, the goal of our pickup soccer group is to have fun, make friends, and enjoy the beautiful game. By keeping these guidelines in mind, we can ensure that every match is an enjoyable and safe experience for all. We look forward to seeing you on the field and sharing some great moments. Thanks for being part of this fantastic soccer community! **DISCLAIMER, WAIVER, RELEASE & SAFETY UPDATES** In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way, and at any time in a sporting event sponsored by this group, or its related groups, You, the participant and or guest(s): * Acknowledges and fully understands that each participant/guest(s) will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury, including permanent disability and death, and severe social and economic losses which might result not only from their own action, inactions or negligence, but the actions, inactions or negligence of others, the rules of play, or the condition of the premises or of any equipment used.
