Aloha! We are a public non-profit recreational outrigger canoe club supported by our members. We have been in continuous operation since 2006. Our purpose is to enable a wide range of people and groups to enjoy recreational ocean paddling sports, ocean conservation and education. While our primary focus is on traditional 6-seat Polynesian style canoes, we also maintain one- and two-seat canoes for member use and promote paddling sports of all kinds. We love being at the beach and on the water. Paddling sports provide non-impact aerobic workout, camaraderie, fun and tremendous enjoyment of the outdoors. To participate, all paddlers must be disciplined, determined and capable of swimming in the ocean. Swim tests and safety drills are conducted routinely. This is a water sport after all. Sooner or later you will get wet! In addition to paddling, maintaining our canoes and hanging out after paddling, we participate in ocean conservation, public service and educational projects such as Best Day at the Beach, Caregiver’s Sailathon, and Beach Cleanup. Our ongoing success is a reflection of the commitment and participation of our membership. We meet at the Ventura Harbor Beach around 8:00 AM to prepare the canoes for launch, then depart around 8:30.

Bringing people of like minds together to promote track and field on all levels in the Ventura County. Whether you are a youth or Senior athlete join us to expand the opportunities to compete and support our sport. All members under 18 need to be accompanied by parent or guardian

If you have an interest in sailing or actively sail, we want to meet you. Stem to Stern welcomes all...first timers, racers and cruisers. We schedule get togethers at restaurants and pubs in Ventura and Channel Islands Harbor. The idea is that we meet to talk about how we can plan day sails in the area and give newbies ideas for how to get involved in the sport. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to own your own boat to go sailing on a regular basis. All members of this group are asked to have a clear profile photo of themselves. We look forward to meeting you!

We are an easy-going group of people who enjoy events such as moderate to advanced hikes, bike riding, volleyball, boating followed by a bite to eat or drinks. I like keeping it pretty diverse. This is our philosophy:

1. We do things as a group. I accommodate people coming and typically give my cell# in advance.  I don't print name tags for people, no meetup sign, sign-in check-lists or silly shit like that. You come to an event, we act like friends hanging out. Independence in social situations is encouraged. 

2. We're not a singles group. You can be single or paired. Or find someone in the group to pair up with, it's your business. I just don't promote the group as a *singles group* and a lot of us don't want the stigma. 

3. We don't like no shows or last minute cancellations. Neither do you when it's on your time. 

4. We encourage members to join who have jobs, hobbies and a life. Having a diverse set of activities makes the environment conducive for the right mix of people. Some events just require a little more advanced planning and some effort.

5. We encourage members to sign-up according to their skill level. I'll let people know when an event isn't for beginners, if it is or how they should prepare for it. Some members are more physically fit than others and better suited for a particular activity. Know your limitations. 

6. Anyone in the group can email me a suggestion! It's mostly about socializing, so feel free to suggest wine tasting, happy hour, bike riding, archery, surfing or whatever strikes your fancy! I keep an open mind.
