Making friends as an adult is hard! But together, I think we can do it. I'm almost embarrassed to say I've lived in Long Beach for almost two years and have done a terrible job making friends. But I'm a homebody that is a beginner at crochet and I think there are probably other people out there who also like to knit or crochet but want to socialize in low stress and smaller group environments. So this is for the other Long Beach folks out there who want to meet other crochet/knitters. We'll have in person events around LBC where we can crochet together. A stitch & bitch, if you will. This is the first meetup group I've ever started so if you'd like to help me host events, that would be great! Note: Members, you should be pro-LGBTQ rights, pro-trans rights, pro-vaccination, pro-BLM, pro-choice. I don't want to spend my limited social energy debating the merits of whether or not people should have human rights. I want you to feel the same way. Excited to see what comes from this!! Some admin rules: I do a cleanup of members every month - if you haven't attended an event in 3 months then I'll remove you. This is to keep our group a closer-knit (pun intended) community. If you RSVP yes to an event and are a no-show three times, I'll also remove you. This is to give folks who want to actually attend an opportunity to do so!

The South Bay Camera Club was organized over 60 years ago by novice printmakers for the purpose of sharing the mutual benefits of their new hobby. The club is now a member of the Southern California Council of Camera Clubs (S4C) and the Photographic Society of America (PSA). Photographic knowledge is shared through competitions, workshops and friendships. Digital cameras are used by a majority of the members; however, there is still interest in film-based photography and darkroom activities. Club critique sessions are equally divided between projected digital images and prints in both color and black and white.

Thanks so much for your interest in our fun little group. Our purpose? To find fellow like-minded individuals who enjoy the same things we all do: movies, TV shows, books, video games, board games, card games, music, concerts (when those eventually come back), some outdoors stuff (fear the day star!!!!), popular franchises like Star Wars or LotR, and much more. Or maybe you just want to find people to vent to about the final season of Game of Thrones. I know I'd like to!

Who should join? Anyone and everyone - since we are all home right now it doesn’t matter where you’re located! We welcome people of different ethnicities, cultures, backgrounds, sexual preferences, religious preferences, etc. All we ask is that you're super cool to everyone (like, don't be a weird creeper or problematic) and be accepting of others. Fandom and passions for hobbies know no bounds, so if you are into the same hobbies and passions we all are then you've found your peoples!

Due to current events, a decent chunk of everything will be virtual, but I will constantly be looking for ways to have safe outdoor gatherings (drive-in movies, for example) ...again, safety first and all that jazz.

Some "rules" (I hate to do it, but this is the Internet):

• No hate speech

• No abuse/bullying

• No threats, doxxing

• This isn't Tinder, so please don't treat it as such

• If you will partake in alcohol or other controlled substances during events for this group, please do so in a responsible way. There definitely are levels of inebriation/intoxication that aren't cute or good/safe for the group

• Be excellent to each other

• If on camera, make sure your "cash and prizes" are covered before standing up O_o

The Los Angeles Black Underwater Explorers (LABUE) is a SCUBA diving club that has been dedicated to expanding the knowledge and enjoyment of SCUBA diving among African-Americans since 1992. Despite our name we welcome those of all races.

LABUE strives to provide "something for everyone" in the exciting world of SCUBA diving. Supported by more than 100 members, LABUE has found success by offering a wide variety dive opportunities including beach dives, boat dives, tropical dive vacation trips to some of the most popular dive destinations on earth, and an array of enjoyable social and networking activities.

LABUE has something to satisfy a wide range of SCUBA diving skill levels; and dive interests from technical diving, to UW photography, hunting, UW archeology, and more. We also regularly introduces non-divers to the sport through our Discover Scuba Program. LABUE general membership, committee members, and the board of directors are are volunteers who have worked together to take LABUE to new heights throughout the years. 

We have some wonderfully talented divers who dedicated themselves to scuba dive with the latest and at the most forefront guidelines and practices of the sport's standards.
