This is a group for anyone who loves the outdoors, and is interested in learning the fun Hobby and the Art of Traditional Archery. The kind of archery w/o the sights, pins wheels, special releases or modern day gizmos. These are the types of bows (Long Bows and Re-curves) as seen in the Hunger Game movies, used by the American Indians and shot by Robinhood himself.
What better way to commune with with nature, or enjoy the outdoors with family and friends then traditional Archery. Traditional Archers are some of the friendliest and down to earth people you will ever meet.
For intermediate or advanced archers we meet monthly at the Rube Powell archery range to do a fun, group 3D tournament shoot with the San Diego Archers, (3D) means shooting at life sized foam animal targets (make believe hunting, without the harvesting). The shoot is in a large, safe, outdoor area fully surrounded with trees. Participation requires that you have some basic skills and previous training. If you have your own gear and know how to use it, you are good to go just meet us at the Rube Powell archery range on the day of the shoot.
If you need lessons, or maybe a refresher on your Robinhood skills, then I recommend you come to a beginner's or intermediate 2-hr class ($20.00) we have twice a month. All necessary archery gear (bows, arrows, targets, knowledge) is supplied. This beginner's class will get you safely launched into the exciting sport of archery. You will be introduced to the basic parts of the bow and arrows. Learn how to safely handle/shoot/store your bow, along with launching dozens of arrows into unsuspecting targets.
