Ultimate Frisbee Meetup of Fairfield County

Westport, CT

Ultimate Frisbee Meetup of Fairfield County

As featured in the Stamford Advocate! (scan: https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/8/8/2/1/high...)

We'd rather be out on the field playing Frisbee than being stuck in the gym; hence this Meetup. Ultimate is a fun, active sport that is easy to learn, and no special equipment is needed (except for a disc). This group is for players of all skill levels who want to play Ultimate Frisbee (or would like to learn the game). Basic qualifications: Can catch and throw the Frisbee!

Location: Usually Wakeman Park in Westport. Please let me know about any good fields around where we can play. VIMP: Please please fill in this poll when you join: (http://ultimatefrisbee.meetup.com/191/polls/125417/)

Fill in your profile, it will help us schedule the games more efficiently. I would rather have 20 active members in the group than 200 inactive! We are here to have fun, enjoy the weather and stay fit! Welcome!

RSVP guidelines: RSVPs are useful to help track attendance.  On days when attendance is low, sometimes it is necessary to cancel the game.  RSVPing helps prevent people from showing up to the fields when no game is happening.

The first rule of Frisbee is known as "The Spirit of the Game" and it refers to playing with high levels of sportsmanship and respect for other players.  This continues off the field, and it means as a group we welcome everyone, regardless of background or lifestyle.

New Haven Professional Lesbians & Bisexual Women of Color

New Haven, CT

New Haven Professional Lesbians & Bisexual Women of Color

A group that is dedicated to providing unique, sophisticated, and fun social events for the ever-evolving taste and interest of today's bi/lesbian woman of color.

Social activities range from art openings, brunches, plays, movies, poetry readings, yoga, dinner parties, book clubs, after work drinks, outdoor adventures, wine tastings, group travel to DC, Philly, New York, and Toronto, and team sports etc.

NOTE: All bi/lesbian women of color (Black, Latina, South Asian, Asian, and Native American), including all transgender women of color who identify as lesbians, bisexual, and queer, from the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) are welcome to join. Because this group serves as one of the few spaces for gay and bisexual women of color, particularly feminine lesbians and bisexual women of color, to socialize free of the forces of racism, sexism, and homophobia, we ask that you do not apply if you are not a woman of color who identifies as a lesbian or bisexual.

CRITERIA: As criteria for membership, all applicants must include a headshot that clearly includes their faces in their profile pictures. Profiles with avatars, non-human subjects, cartoons, or photos that in any way, shape, or form, obscure members' faces will be rejected. Profiles should include members' faces in order to ensure that their profiles are legitimate in order to ensure members' safety. Profiles that do not meet this criteria will be rejected. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to meeting you soon.

Sincerely,
Your meetup organizers

I live on LI, but I love NYC!

Port Jefferson, NY

I live on LI, but I love NYC!
SEE THE **FULL EVENT** SCHEDULE [HERE](https://www.meetup.com/I-live-on-LI-but-I-love-NYC/events/upcoming) This is a a group for people who live and work on LI, temporarily or long-term, but who recognize we are in one of the greatest metropolitan areas in the world. It's for people who are creatures of the city, with all its diversity, possibilities, opportunities, and excitement. To be sure, we will make excursions into the city--and that includes Queens and Brooklyn as well as Manhattan...and let's not forget the Bronx and Staten Island as well. However, we will get together here on Long Island too, in the interest of promoting convenience and encouraging inclusion by people whose budgets may not allow them to take trips to the city as frequently as they'd like. The point of this group is as much to allow meeting, forming friendships, and having fellowship with others whose hearts belong in the city, as it is to take trips into the city for all that it offers. Examples of trips to the city might include entertainment/cultural outings, intellectual pursuits, and social justice and human rights entreaties. There will be options to suit most anyone! We might attend an improv comedy night with the Upright Citizens Brigade, attend the Museum of Modern Art, join a march or demonstration to promote social justice, human rights, or other progressive cause, walk along the Highline Park and visit a brewpub or vegetarian eatery, frolic or picnic in Central Park or in Brooklyn, attend professional sporting event, or take a tip from Time Out New York, the Village Voice, the New York Press, the Indypendent, the NY Times, the NY Daily News, or some other suggestion source. Long Island events may include a potluck, movie outing, dining option, winery tour, dance night in Huntington or some other locale, etc., with tips taken from the LI Press, Newsday, News 12 LI, Long Island Pulse Magazine, and other sources. The options are endless, but linking them all are progressive-minded people open to try new things. Our homes and travels may be on LI, but our hearts and minds belong to NYC, wandering from Greenwhich Village to the Lower East Side to Brooklyn and beyond!
