Florida Chapter - Tabimina Balintawak System

Altamonte Springs, FL

Florida Chapter - Tabimina Balintawak System

Tabimina Balintawak is a Filipino Self-Defense System and Survival Art that use the single stick method to train its practitioners on developing advanced reflexive responses and other attributes needed to defend one's self or their loved ones against an assailant intent on harming them. This is accomplished and attainable through Tabimina Balintawak System's one on one instructor led training that quickly builds the foundational attributes needed for Survival.

The stick however is only a tool used to develop the body mechanics and reflexive responses that are directly translatable to empty-hand movements. Due to this, practitioners of Tabimina Balintawak are equally adept fighting with various weapons (stick, blade, knife, etc.), or without.

In addition, due to Tabimina Balintawak's advanced reflexive response training, it's a perfect way to  enhancing previous martial arts or sports training, such as Boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Basketball, or any performance based activity where reflexive responses are imperative.

Tabimina Balintawak uses a unique method to train where its practitioners are taught directly one on one by a qualified instructor. The required personalized tutelage distinguishes Tabimina Balintawak from other arnis/kali/eskrima and martial arts styles where a student is typically teamed with another student, and pre-arranged drills are conducted. From day one new Tabimina Balintawak practitioner are given random and continuous attacks/strikes by a skilled instructor, generally at a speed just beyond his (or her) current ability to defend against. The beginning student’s mission is simple: to defend and counter the attacks. The result is an instructor-led training framework - called agak - that immerses the student in a dynamic state of attack and counters that he must strive to overcome. This is opposite of the “dummy” approach, typical of other styles where the attacker upon delivering a strike freezes or poses in the attack position so the defender can deliver multiple counters, this method is never used in Tabimina Balintawak.

In training, the student is always taught to assume their adversary is skilled and will not stand still for them. Hence, the emphases on development of a strong defense in training.

Tabimina Balintawak follows 4 main training principles - Random, On-Target, Real-Time, Under-Stress.

This group is open to beginners and experts alike, no prior experience is needed.

If you're tired of the common, dissatisfied with the impractical, looking for a new challenge in life, then check out a Tabimina Balintawak Training Session.

Pickleball ~ Wonderfuls (Beginners)!

Maitland, FL

This group is for anyone interested in Pickleball startup or drill practice. Come out and meet your coach Donna Smith extraordinaire coach. Classes are limited to 12 or 16 guests. You may sign up on https://playtimescheduler.com/ for Thursday morning beginner lessons $5 cash. Hope to see you gorgeousnesses soon! *** Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is typically played on a rectangular court with dimensions similar to a badminton court. The game is played with a solid paddle and a lightweight plastic ball with holes, similar in appearance to a wiffle ball. Pickleball can be played as a singles or doubles game. The rules are somewhat similar to tennis, with players serving diagonally and trying to hit the ball over the net and into the opponent's side of the court. One unique feature of pickleball is the "non-volley zone," often referred to as the "kitchen," which is an area near the net where players are not allowed to hit the ball out of the air (volley) unless the ball has bounced first. This rule helps to prevent overly aggressive play near the net. Pickleball is known for its social and inclusive nature, making it popular among people of all ages and skill levels. It can be played indoors or outdoors and has gained a lot of popularity in recent years due to its accessibility and the relatively low physical impact compared to some other racquet sports. The game is easy to learn for beginners, but can also offer a high level of competition for more advanced players.

If you are on the list please don’t be a no-show!** **If you can’t make it please cancel 24 hours or more before the event. I know sometimes there are emergencies. You can re-sign, but you will be at the end of the waitlist.** **IMPORTANT: Don’t come if you are on the waitlist. You must be on the GOING list to attend.** **No guests from here on out–I have turned off this feature on the app. Tell your friends how to sign up. I will delete all remaining guests on Feb. 5th.** **No trading spots with your friends. If you can’t come, take yourself off the list. No, your friend cannot come in your place. I will have a clipboard there for signing up. Graciously tell them no.** * **Play your position! Sometimes it can be hard to know whose ball it is–just be aware of where you are, call the ball, and back off if someone else calls it so we can avoid injuries.** * **The setter (center front player) gets the second hit. If they need to, they should call HELP. Otherwise, let the SETTER take the second hit.** * **NOTE: Be clear when you call GOT IT or HELP. It gets loud in the gym and can be hard to understand what people are saying.** * **Call out the score clearly BEFORE serving.** * **No spikes or high-speed power hits, except for serves.** * **No bad language, including cursing, swearing, or speaking any form of God’s name casually or disrespectfully.** * **Stay alert, play your best, have a good attitude, and be respectful of all players.** **We will never all agree on every issue. Please be a good sport and help keep volleyball fun, safe, and awesome for everyone.** **Thank you for being part of this group!!! Please always feel free to talk with me if you have input, questions, or concerns.** **Karen Wernli** **801-425-7095** **[karenwernli@gmail.com](mailto:karenwernli@gmail.com)** **This event is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bumby, Orlando (Sundays at 10:30 am). You are always welcome!** **PS - Thanks to all who have paid me for their share of the Meetup fee ($5 once every six months). I appreciate your contribution!!!**

Orlando Dads Group

Orlando, FL

Orlando Dads Group

Orlando Dads Group is a diverse community of fathers who take an active role in our children’s lives. We host meet-ups several times per month, with our kids at parks, playgrounds, museums, sporting events, parent-and-me classes, and anywhere else we feel compelled within the Orlando area. We also host Dads Nights Out to give our members an opportunity to socialize, have fun, learn, and support each other as we navigate parenthood.

We are a group with dads of all stripes: married dads, single dads, dads who share custody, adoptive dads, step dads, stay at home dads, full time working dads, work from home dads, freelance dads, etc. Our meet-ups occur both during the week and on weekends to accommodate both stay at home dads and working dads. We welcome all involved fathers in and around the Orlando area who want to socialize and interact with other guys who enjoy spending quality time with their children. The only requirement to joining us is to be a dad. There are no group dues and no attendance expectations. We have some dads who come consistently to most of what we do, and we have some dads who might only come out once or twice per year. We’re here for all dads whenever they are ready to participate.

Orlando Dads Group is part of the City Dads Group, a dynamic and diverse community of fathers dedicated to being active in their children’s lives and, by example, redefining what it means to be a dad in the 21st century. City Dads Group has active groups in many major metropolitan areas throughout the United States. Find them all here at http://citydadsgroup.com/
