Hope to see you gorgeousnesses soon! *** Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is typically played on a rectangular court with dimensions similar to a badminton court. The game is played with a solid paddle and a lightweight plastic ball with holes, similar in appearance to a wiffle ball. Pickleball can be played as a singles or doubles game. The rules are somewhat similar to tennis, with players serving diagonally and trying to hit the ball over the net and into the opponent's side of the court. One unique feature of pickleball is the "non-volley zone," often referred to as the "kitchen," which is an area near the net where players are not allowed to hit the ball out of the air (volley) unless the ball has bounced first. This rule helps to prevent overly aggressive play near the net. Pickleball is known for its social and inclusive nature, making it popular among people of all ages and skill levels. It can be played indoors or outdoors and has gained a lot of popularity in recent years due to its accessibility and the relatively low physical impact compared to some other racquet sports. The game is easy to learn for beginners, but can also offer a high level of competition for more advanced players.

Orlando Touch Rugby

Orlando, FL

Orlando Touch Rugby

A community of old, young (and some in the middle) of experienced, and newbie rugby players in the Orlando area who get together and play touch rugby on both Wednesdays from 5:30 pm (until light fails) and also on Sundays (our main get together) from 3:30-6:00 pm both at Blue Jacket Park (near Lake Baldwin), Orlando. Every couple of months we organize tournaments with the other touch rugby teams from all over Florida.

It is a great co-ed game and open to kids big enough to catch and run along with adults (so a fantastic family game), as size and strength is no advantage.

By the way, anyone who doesn't know what touch rugby is:

Wikipedia:

"Touch rugby, Refers to games derived from rugby football in which players do not tackle in the traditional, highly physical way, but instead touch their opponents using their hands on any part of the body, clothing, or the ball. (It could be described as a game of high speed tag, involving teamwork, strategy, internationally agreed rules, a ball and a referee).

Historically, a formal competitive variety, known as Touch, originally developed from rugby league and now exists as a sport in its own right. In addition, touch rugby games are played as training activities for rugby league and rugby union; as a way to develop many essential rugby skills but without suffering the cost of taking the pounding of going into contact, popular in schools and junior clubs, or just as an informal social sport."

Florida Chapter - Tabimina Balintawak System

Altamonte Springs, FL

Florida Chapter - Tabimina Balintawak System

Tabimina Balintawak is a Filipino Self-Defense System and Survival Art that use the single stick method to train its practitioners on developing advanced reflexive responses and other attributes needed to defend one's self or their loved ones against an assailant intent on harming them. This is accomplished and attainable through Tabimina Balintawak System's one on one instructor led training that quickly builds the foundational attributes needed for Survival.

The stick however is only a tool used to develop the body mechanics and reflexive responses that are directly translatable to empty-hand movements. Due to this, practitioners of Tabimina Balintawak are equally adept fighting with various weapons (stick, blade, knife, etc.), or without.

In addition, due to Tabimina Balintawak's advanced reflexive response training, it's a perfect way to  enhancing previous martial arts or sports training, such as Boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Basketball, or any performance based activity where reflexive responses are imperative.

Tabimina Balintawak uses a unique method to train where its practitioners are taught directly one on one by a qualified instructor. The required personalized tutelage distinguishes Tabimina Balintawak from other arnis/kali/eskrima and martial arts styles where a student is typically teamed with another student, and pre-arranged drills are conducted. From day one new Tabimina Balintawak practitioner are given random and continuous attacks/strikes by a skilled instructor, generally at a speed just beyond his (or her) current ability to defend against. The beginning student’s mission is simple: to defend and counter the attacks. The result is an instructor-led training framework - called agak - that immerses the student in a dynamic state of attack and counters that he must strive to overcome. This is opposite of the “dummy” approach, typical of other styles where the attacker upon delivering a strike freezes or poses in the attack position so the defender can deliver multiple counters, this method is never used in Tabimina Balintawak.

In training, the student is always taught to assume their adversary is skilled and will not stand still for them. Hence, the emphases on development of a strong defense in training.

Tabimina Balintawak follows 4 main training principles - Random, On-Target, Real-Time, Under-Stress.

This group is open to beginners and experts alike, no prior experience is needed.

If you're tired of the common, dissatisfied with the impractical, looking for a new challenge in life, then check out a Tabimina Balintawak Training Session.

Millennials of Orlando

Orlando, FL

Millennials of Orlando

This group is designed to get millennials (born between 1980 and 2000, generally speaking) together to do fun things within the greater Orlando metropolitan area. Whether you are new to the city, hoping to meet new people, or simply wish to explore the area, this is the group for you! Some activities we can do include: bowling, mini golfing, movies, hitting up the theme parks, going to local area festivals, concerts, sporting events, etc.

On the note of planning for events, I am always open to suggestions so feel free to propose any type of event!  Please note that events promoting your business or are religious or political in nature will not be approved.

Also, please note: For events that have an RSVP limit, attendance will be tracked.  This is in the interest of allowing as many people who are actually able to attend an event to do so.  Failing to change your RSVP to "No" by 9:00 PM on the night before an event and failing to arrive by 10 minutes past the start time will be considered a no-show.  People who habitually no-show will be banned from the group.

"Habitually" is obviously open to interpretation (which is in the sole discretion of group leadership), but will be evaluated more in your favor if you communicate with the organizer of the event using the comments on the event page or direct messaging if something happens (such as waking up sick, waking up in the hospital even long after the event, family emergency, you can't find the meeting spot, etc).Even for events without an RSVP limit communication if something happens and keeping your RSVP updated is something the person running the event will appreciate.
