S3 Simply Social Sports Leagues - Chicago

The Story of S3 Leagues: Here we are. Either A) We just made it through another brutal Chicago winter, and spring is almost upon us or B) Sadly, outdoor activities are coming to an end. Whatever the case, we always need to break up the week with something fun to do that takes our mind off of the daily grind right? That’s where I got the idea for S3 Simply Social Sports Leagues back in 2009. While at a bar one day talking to friends about the need for a better overall rec league experience, the idea of S3 came together on a bar napkin (for real!). Obviously in the warmer months there’s an endless amount of events and places to hang, and in the winter uh…there’s not that much. Being active and playing in a social sports league is the most popular group activity by far, and truly a rite of passage in Chicago. After your first season you’ll want to be signed up for one (or more) at all times. That’s where S3 comes in. Your knight in shining armor. Here to whisk you away on its white horse of action and meeting people while playing coed social sports. In THE MOST organized and welcoming way possible. Speaking of meeting people, a league is THE BEST way to do that! Sure one night events are fun, but you can’t form lasting relationships over a 10 minute conversation. During a 5-8 week season with the same team and entire league at our post-game bar, it’s easy to make connections with others! Maybe you meet the love of your life (happens A LOT) or maybe you make new friends. Either way, those are hard to come by and a social rec league makes that happen. It seems like everyone wants to play on an intramural sports team, but often times find it difficult to organize a group of people to sign up a whole squad. Sure having your company sponsor a team or having an organized friend take charge and get a crew built is awesome and definitely welcome in S3. But what if you could join a team either by yourself or with friends and get placed on a team with other people around your age, half guys half girls, for a league GUARANTEED? Sound cool? Well it is! And we do that! In every league! Join and you’re in. So if you are the kind of person who likes to get to know folks and play a little recreational sports while you’re at it, REGISTER TODAY! Then just sit tight til you get updates and information on your season. What’s the catch you ask? There’s only one. Well two. First, come every week excited to have a good time playing and hanging out with your fellow Chicagoans. That one’s easy. Sure winning is nice, but teams/players choose to join our leagues specifically because they’re not frustratingly competitive and we’re more focused on enjoying our day/night. The second is better for me. When you meet a special someone or make a lifelong friend, not only will I be incredibly happy for ya, but you are allowed to buy me a “Thanks Ben” drink at the bar when you see me. Started over 65 years ago as a ski club, we're now active in biking, hiking, kayaking, adventure travel and social activities in addition to both Downhill and Cross-Country skiing. Chicago Social Events: Get Out, Meet People & Make Friends

Chicago Social Events will be putting together tons of events for 20-30 somethings that focus on one thing: Meeting people and having fun. Well, that's kind of two things...Our group will live by the motto "A good time is all about who you share it with". I've been putting up our events in other Meetup groups for the past several months and have seen amazing turnouts with such great people, so now it just makes sense to create my own!

We'll be organizing groups to do things like happy hours, trivia nights, visit museums, go to comedy shows, plan trolley crawls, wine tastings, tournaments, play in rec sports leagues and more! Does this sound like every other group on Meetup? Well it's definitely similar, but I'm really good at getting good deals for everyone and coming up with unique events that have recently been bringing out large groups of people that simply want to get out more and meet others. So if you're fresh in town (welcome!), are looking to make some new friends, and/or simply just want to spice things up and do something other than sitting in a bar with the same ol' folks, we're gonna be that spice.

I also run S3 Simply Social Sports Leagues (s3leagues.com), which offers THE BEST coed rec sports leagues in the city. Sure I'm biased, but the sweet thing is they really are amazing. These leagues allow you to join by yourself or with friends and we create teams by age group for anyone aged 21-42, with post-game festivities at a near-by bar. These leagues welcome all skill levels. Rather than a one time event, these leagues last 5-8 weeks and allow you to foster stronger relationships as you come together every week during the season. Being new to town myself years ago, I made all my best friends by joining a coed softball team. I knew I could make it better, and now many years later with tens of thousands of past alum, tons of new friends made, couples formed, and several marriages! Sometimes the best connections come from simply expanding your social circle and getting out more. This is our goal, and we're excited to see you at an event or league!

Grab a Game - Chicago Basketball

For adult basketball players of all skill levels, our group offers weekly pickup games. We use our meetup page to advertise most of our games, but to officially register for a game or to view our full schedule, use the Grab A Game app or book online at https://grabagame.com/basketball/. Games often fill up days in advance, so be sure to lock in your spot early.

Our group is perfect if you're new in town, just visiting, or have been here for years and want to add a game to your schedule. Grab a Game is also a great way to meet other players or join a team. What can I expect with Grab a Game Basketball?
We welcome new players every week and we love our regulars! A paid host at each event guarantees everything is well-organized and you get the most out of your playing time.

We shoot for teams and usually play games to 11 by 1's and 2's. You'll find that our most popular format is a 90-minute session with a max of 3 teams so you won't sit more than 1 game in a row. Most games are priced between $10-15 per person, but we offer weekly passes, discounted 5-packs, and monthly passes.
