Southwest Suburbs Girls Night Out Group

Chicago Ridge, IL

Southwest Suburbs Girls Night Out Group
Missing the opportunity for good conversation, laughs that make your belly hurt, and real women who understand you? This Group, generally for women aged 40+ (not a rule; just a guideline -- ages of our Members range from early-40s to late-70s), is for you! Meet some local women, make new friends, and visit with some you've met in the past. We will get together for drinks, dancing, movies, coffee, lunch, dinner, sporting events, wine tastings, spa outings, shopping events, TV show activities, book club and anything else that will be FUN! Both weekend and weekday dates will be chosen... depending on everyone's interests! Our "focus area" is generally from Chicago Ridge to Tinley Park and Blue Island to Plainfield / Shorewood / Joliet -- but, if it's FUN, we are there!!!! THE MOST important thing about this Group is that you KEEP YOUR RSVP "up to date"!!  If you sign up for an event, then have to back out, contact the Event Host for that particular event IMMEDIATELY!!  In many cases, reservations have been made -- or plans determined -- based on the # of yes RSVPs.  \*All "guests" should be women approximately age 35+, unless otherwise noted.\* **\*\**IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS*\*\* are encouraged and always welcome!! If there is something you would like to do / see / attend, you can bet there is at least one other person who is also interested.** If you join this Group, you must remain "active" in the Group.  What does this mean?  You MUST attend a Girls Night Out event at least 1x every 3 months or you will be removed from the Group. Thanks.

HOW WE CAME TO BE

Founder Tim Heyen grew up in central Illinois. Having tons of space to do his own work he bought two cars at the age of 15 to use one as a parts car for the other and build the best car he could by the time he got his license at 16. After moving to Downtown Chicago he and his wife Molly started going to High Performance Driving Events (HPDE). This hobby requires more maintenance on one's car than a typical daily driver needs. To save money Tim would beg suburban friends to use their driveway when he needed to do maintenance.

One day he planned to do a brake job in a friend's driveway. They did not have a jack low enough to fit under the car, so for each corner he needed to drive the wheel onto a 2x4 to give it enough height to fit the jack under. This added a lot of time to the job and on top of it by the time they got to the last wheel it started pouring rain! They finished the job, soaking wet, and knew there must be a better way.

After convincing Molly (no easy task) that there would be enough demand in the city for a diy auto shop they got to work researching the concept and about four years later finally opened the doors of Gearhead Workspace to Chicago.

Empower Chicago Organic Events

Empower Chicago Organic Events
Welcome! We are so happy that you are a part of our community! At Empower, we meet our families and young adults where they are - in their local communities! We started Organic events so that our local Mentors and Volunteers could plan get-togethers outside of our organization’s (Empower) sanctioned events. Think hiking, ice cream, sporting events, museums and more! Our hope is that through these events, we can minimize the feelings of isolation in the members of our community🤍 Want to host an event? Feel free to create an event/invitation (approved Volunteers/Mentors over the age of 25)  and be as specific as possible (i.e. date, time, place, age range, type of parent loss, etc.) and we will help you along the way! We look forward to seeing you in the future! PLEASE NOTE: This is a private group ONLY for members in our organization! If you would like to be a part of empowerHER, please visit our website here: www.weareempower.org to find out more! Below you will find links to our Enrollment, Mentor, and Volunteer pages.
