Airtoboal Launch League Chicagoland

Joliet, IL

Airtoboal Launch League Chicagoland
Hello, and welcome to the Airtoboal Launch League Chicagoland! 👋🏻😊 Come join the first ever league for the sport of Airtoboal in all world history! 🥇 That is because Airtoboal is a brand new team sport that I have invented that in short involves getting a ball that must mainly be kept in the air into the opponent's goal which is a literal bowl that must be kept on the ground and can only be moved with the feet and legs. Both the ball and both team's bowls can be moved all over the football/soccer sized field at any time during game play.  It involves the necessary skills of speed, stamina, style, quickness, and creativity among others. If you enjoy or are good at any major sport like football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and field and others you should love and be good at this sport because of the similarities in skills needed. Here is how I would describe it as in comparison to some other major sports: ⚽️ soccer with a bowl, 🏀 basketball a little lower, 🏒 hockey on grass, 🏐 volleyball on a full field, 🏃🏽‍♂️ track with a ball, 🥍 lacrosse without sticks and more pace, 🥣 tag with props, 🏉 rugby with more variety 🏈 football except more action and less danger, ♟️chess, checkers, monopoly, and risk board game in sport form. The goal is to jump start the sport this summer here in the Chicagoland area and then hopefully see it grow and spread across the country and become a big time competitive and spectator sport. I'm hoping to be able to have a game scheduled almost every Saturday soon. So come join the group and be one of the first ever athletes to be a part of this new, exciting, and unique sport that hopefully has huge potential! 🎊

The Fellowship of West Suburban Board Gamers

Bolingbrook, IL

The Fellowship of West Suburban Board Gamers

Come join us for a fun night of gaming! Whether you are a veteran gamer or new to the hobby you are always welcome. If you have no games to contribute for playing that's OK, several of us bring games ranging from the quick and silly like Flux and Poo, to the more popular Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan, and to the more complex economy games like Power Grid and Puerto Rico.

Never heard of the games just mentioned, that's OK, too.  Sometimes we play main-stream games from Chess to Poker. However, we are passionate about our hobby and love to teach new games.  If you will allow us, we would love to introduce you to a whole world of games that are fun, challenging and rewarding.  We have a fairly large library and although we may have our favorites, we are always willing to try something new.  If you own games you would like to play, bring them along.

Our game space may seem a bit unconventional but we have found none better. It is well lit, semi-private and quiet. The tables are adequate for board gaming. The store is open 24 hours so if your up for it, you can game as late as you would like (Some of us are night owls.) You are under no obligation to buy anything, although bottomless fountain drinks are only a dollar with some pennies and you have more reasonably priced food choices then you can shake a stick at wisely. If you are looking for restaurant fare many members go out together after gaming for a late night snack - you, of course, are always welcome.

So come and relax, put the day's worries behind you and lose yourself in a challenging and fun evening with friends around a board gaming table.  We laugh often and are only grumpy occasionally :)

Plainfield Board Games Meetup Group

Plainfield, IL

Plainfield Board Games Meetup Group
Hello, I am looking to expand my board games group in Plainfield. I had 50 players group in CA, we used to play every weekend. I have a decent collection ( over 200) of board games. You can bring a friend if you want to , just add them as " + 1 quest " please. I suppose some people might be hesitant meeting strangers if it’s not at some public place, but i can assure you, my wife and I are completely normal, friendly and very social people and we have no doubt that you will have a great time here. You can check my address on the map, we live in the middle of Plainfield, surrounded by upper middle class big houses, it's a nice area. I can offer big table, comfortable chairs and relaxing, friendly environment. Please feel free to ask any questions. You can see my collection on this boardgamegeek.com link[https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/Saifur](https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/Saifur)Clicking on " large gallery mode " (top left corner) will give you better view of the games. There are a few pages with games. Please keep in mind that playing any of the games in my collection takes from 2 to 3 hours (sometimes even longer). In any case you have to be sure that you are free for at least 3 to 4 hours. === \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-We play different games every time\. I rotate them constantly\, so if someone doesn't like the game we played\, they will know something else will be played next time\. I often post few options and players vote what they want to play\. Please check the comments section under each event \! === \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- \-\-\-\-\-\-\-I want to emphasize that we do not play very light type of games \( Catan\, Ticket to ride \, etc \)\, but i have plenty of more casual and medium weight games\. All games in my collection are top rated on boardgamegeek\.com\, with great positive reviews and really enjoyable to play\. You are not expected to know the rules of the game we will be playing\. I have been playing board games for many years and i am used to explaining the rules every time before we start playing\, so don't worry about that\. During the game i will always help you to figure out how everything works\, will give you advice\, and it doesn't matter that you are my opponent in the game\. For me its more important people to enjoy the games and their time here\, and considering the overall feedback\, I think I manage to achieve that for most players\. As a hobby\, I also paint miniatures\, so you will also have the chance to play some games with uniquely painted figures\.Some of the games i have painted are "Blood Rage"\,"Rising sun"\," The Godfather"\," Scythe"\,"Western legends"\," The Walking dead\- here's Negan"\," Narcos " \,"Cthulhu Wars"\, "Vengeance"\, "Hannibal&Hamilcar "\, "Imperial Assault" \, " Mythic Battles" and others\. I have probably close to 1 000 if not more painted figures from the miniatures game " A song of ice and fire" \( Game of Thrones \)\. Feel free to bring whatever snacks or drinks you want\, although I always have something to offer here \(snacks\, soda\, beer\, etc \) I am only asking you not to bring stuff that is greasy\, just use common sense\, no one likes sticky fingerprints on their board game components\. === \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- The address is 25719 Pastoral dr\. Plainfield\, 60585\. You can park in the driveway\, that is fine My phone number is 747 888 7740\. Please\, always check your personal messages on meetup before the actual gaming session\. If I have to cancel the meeting\, I will send message to everybody who signed up\. The reason for canceling could be because not enough people signed up or if too many people canceled which again leaves us with not enough players\. === \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-I can't overstate how important this is \- please BE here ON TIME\! If you are the only person \( or group of people coming together \) it is OK to be a little late\, but that's rarely the case\, and if you are late\, that means there are 3 \, 4 or 5 people just sitting here\, doing nothing and waiting for you\. Not only you would be wasting other people time \( and some of them probably have limited time \)\, but you might discourage new players from coming back again\, if they are left with the impression that our events are poorly organized\. Please consider other people time and be punctual\. === \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- I want to thank in advance to everyone who donates any amount to support the group\. It is much appreciated\. All donations will go towards snacks\, beer\, meetup monthly fees\. Please do not feel obliged to donate\, its entirely optional and up to you\. === ============================================================================ Finally, i know this was a big wall of text, and i want to thank you for having the patience to read it. I think it was necessary to help everyone to better understand and enjoy our board game meetings. I also apologize for any possible punctiation or grammar mistakes, English is not my first language.

630 Singles & Social Club (Age 40+)
We are about fun and friendship. We schedule dancing, wine tastings, dinner, movies, plays, concerts, fairs and festivals, sporting and volunteer events and a whole lot more. Most of our activities are on the weekend and are scheduled in the Western suburbs, (Wheaton, Downers Grove, Naperville area) but not all. We are open to adding new organizers to our group as that means more variety of events and more fun for all. Message us through our site if you have an activity you want to organize. To join our group, you must use your real first name preferably with a last name or initial, and have a recent picture of yourself (just you, not multiple people) on your Meetup profile. We need to be able to see your face on the photo (No exceptions!). If your photo is blurry you will be declined. **We do not approve out of state requests to join or if you live too far away since that seems to invite more "no shows" at events**. Our group is for people aged 40 and over. For some events we may charge a small fee to help cover the cost of this site. If you have many RSVP day-of-event cancellations, No-Shows, or violate our Code of Conduct clause, you will get dropped from our group.   Everyone applying to join our Meetup group agrees they will not misrepresent themselves, or any material facts about themselves, to gain entry into our group. We reserve the right to deny anyone from joining our meetup group and also to remove anyone from our Meetup group, at any time, for any reason. Cheers 2

Glen Ellyn, IL

Cheers 2
**About us**  Social happy hour, dining, dancing, festivals, outdoor activities, and whatever the event organizers wish to do! There is no fee to attend events or be part of this group. Some venues may charge an admission fee. An organizer may host Outdoor Winter activities such as skiing or ice skating. I'll host year-round hikes if they are in the area. This group changed names multiple times. Someone then told me to name it "Cheers 2" so I did. Earlier it was based on the final episode of Cheers sitcom [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP21b-AAXJk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP21b-AAXJk) . This group is mostly for ages 40s+ but not restrictive of other ages. Most events are held in the West Suburban area. We are expanding the areas where events are held. Organizers can host events wherever they want. There are no attendance requirements but please change your rsvp to NO if your plans change and unable to go to an event. Below are some reasons for removal from this group. **Rudeness, yelling at restaurant staff or skipping out without paying for your meal:** It happened at Eden restaurant event. Yelling at the manager because your gin and tonic took too long to get. Three people skipping out without paying for their food. If you walk out without paying and I find out who you are and you refuse to settle, you will be removed from this group. **General rudeness to another person in meetup** I intended this group to be friendly and welcoming. If I hear about people being really nasty to someone else then the perpetrator may be removed from the group. **Reporting a member to meetup in order to get them banned from meetup:** Please message me first if you experience conflict to the level where you want the person removed entirely from meetup! This is to prevent an unfortunate situation where the person who was reported and banned from meetup was also an event host. All of the person's events disappeared entirely. What's worse, people had paid for such event that disappeared. I spent 3 hours of my time trying to figure out why an event that people paid for suddenly disappeared. I was clueless. Finally got to the bottom of it. A member had a conflict with a person who was an event host and reported them to meetup to get them banned. We sorted it out but if this happens again the person who makes such a report will be removed from this group. **Leaving a one star review of a venue that does not deserve it:** I work hard to find venues that are suitable for our group. I spend hours driving around, checking it out, calling, and asking questions. Many do not accept separate checks even for party of just 8. Some want a deposit of $1000 to $2500 dollars to rent an area if you have more than 20 people. Others request that each person spend at least $25 or else I'm liable. Others state to me that I will be responsible for $25.00 fee for each empty seat at table when there is a popular band playing (tables for 20 in this case at Manhattans). Others want me to sign a contract of some kind. Some say that everyone must be there or we can't be seated, even for a party of just 12. If your food was not prepared to your satisfaction at any event (Steak over cooked, cold mash potatoes), please let staff know at the time of the event. I**ntolerance of others in our group**  Any expressions of hatred or demeaning comments will cause a person to be blocked out  of this meetup group. Please message me privately if you experience this.  I will not allow any expressions of this sort based on political party, race, ethnicity, LGBTQ, religion, handicap (mental or physical), age, or gender.  This includes comments I happen to see in other meetup group comments. **Sexual Harassment** This is not a hook up singles group and people have a right to be left alone if their not interested. Please message me if you receive unsolicited meetup messages from people you don't know. **Our political differences** Any discussions must be civilized. We don't want a fight to break out while we're dining, or anytime for that matter.  If your not capable of engaging in civil political discussions then either stay silent or ask to join another table if its a restaurant venue. **Let the event organizer lead the event:** If an event organizer lists a specific location where they will be at a venue then that's where the group is meeting. Event hosting takes time and effort. Please do not hijack an event and tell people "No, we're sitting here instead". This causes confusion and that's totally unnecessary. Hijacking an event in this manner is cause for removal from this group. I didn't think it would be necessary to add this policy to this group but a situation was reported to me on 08/18/23. That's like me hosting a dinner event and then some member comes in and tells people to go to another restaurant instead. Or, like me arriving to lead a hike (different group) and then upon my arrival a bunch of people are leaving because a member already did my hike for me (yeah that happened). Or, like me leading a hike and then a member demands that the group follow them instead (yeah that's happened too). The event organizers have final say in where the group is to meet and all other aspects of that event. They can also remove people who rsvp who have caused issues at a previous meetup. "Issues" are listed above. **Other general policies:** **NO SHOW at Sit Down Dining events** This only applies to restaurants where we have a limited number of people who can attend and we sit down together and have a meal. If you are a NO SHOW without reason you may not be able to attend events with limited seating. All meetup event hosts expect people to change their RSVP to NO if plans change. **Sharing phone numbers of members of the group** It is never ok to share phone numbers of people in the group with others without their permission. Please do not share any other personally identifiable information about others such as last name or address. **Event Organizers** Event organizers must report inappropriate conduct of any member to me immediately after an event thru email, private message or phone call. Safety is of everyone's concern and I also wish to keep this group respectful of others. **Event Organizers** To prevent fraud, use of your own personal Zelle/payment account for pre-paid events is not allowed. We recently found out that if a member leaves meetup altogether their event completely disappears. Most of us know each other but we have a few new event organizers. Pre-paid events must use a third party payment system, for example a music venue, theatre or sports arena that has its own link to pay. **Un-hosted events are not allowed!** I didn't even know about it until few years ago when Gregg (organizer of TGIF) notified me. I was very thankful that Gregg mentioned this to me. Up until that time I was posting "un-hosted meetup events" because someone suggested an event to me, it sounded great, I thought people would really like it, but I couldn't host. For your convenience, I'm copying and pasting content from https://help.meetup.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002897712-Meetup-groups-and-events-policies *"It can be a little intimidating to show up to an event where you don’t know anyone,* *so having a host at every event is important for making members feel comfortable and welcome.* *All Meetup events must have an in-person host present to help connect attendees,* *manage relationships with venues, and bring structure to the events. The host must,* *at a minimum, make members aware of the event location, and act as a point of contact during the event.* *If a business or an organization is sponsoring an event, the event description must identify a contact person who will be present at the event.* *If Meetup receives reports that there is no one present in-person hosting a* *Meetup group’s events, we may remove the group at our sole discretion."* If an event organizer has posted an event and then cannot attend later for some reason then either * Cancel the event and give the reason why * Find a person who can act as a one time host and agrees to host. Make that person official host in meetup event. Posting of any other un-hosted events will result in change back to member role and loss of ability to post events. I expect that event organizers will have some skills in mentioning whether or not there is a reservation and what the reservation is under (Cheers2 or your own name). If there is no reservation then event hosts shall mention in comments where they are at. **History of the group** This group was founded recently in June 2018 as a Woman's social group for ages 45 and up. I've renamed it a few times since then. Cheers 2 is here to stay.
