Dominion of the Unconquered Sun - KCMO Dagorhir

Grandview, MO

Dominion of the Unconquered Sun - KCMO Dagorhir

Every Sunday at 2pm at The View in Grandview, MO.

Come by to Watch or Participate!

Medieval combat with foam replica weapons! We wear garb, we shoot arrows, we build weapons, we die, resurrect, and fight some more! All year round - every Sunday (Unless it's a holiday, of course!)

This is similar to the practice of German Longsword and other types of sword combat. The type of brotherhood/sisterhood is forever long and we are a group of really nice people. Types of battles include versions of capture the flag, steal the bacon, Black Knight battles, Goblin Football, etc.

Dominion of the Unconquered Sun is located in Grandview, MO. If you have any questions at all please ask and we are happy to have you join.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LARPING? NOT QUITE...: This is a sport! Go figure! Even if you watch, we promise you will get a kick out of it. Some people like to refer to it as LARPing however we disagree. The rules are simple. Get hit in the arm, lose the arm. Get hit in the back, you die. Never fear! In most gameplay you can resurrect and continue fighting. There are mostly no spells or magic - this is all combat. The closest we come to LARPing is taking on a persona or Dagorhir name. This is fun for us because we can relate to our inner geek. Some are Goblins, Romans, Night's Watchmen, Fairies, Elves, Human's in awesome armor... You can literally be whatever you want to be as your non-com person. In combat, however, the rules apply the same for everyone.

NEWBIES: Think you'll stink? Most likely. But we mean this in two ways. The first is - this is a fun work out! If you're not sweating, you're not doing it right. Secondly, newbies are always welcome! We help teach and train so that you can become a skilled fighter. Once you start, don't be surprised if you find yourself at some upcoming events (from 200 people to Ragnarok's 2k people). At those events there is camping, drinking, family fun, merchants (Blacksmiths, carpenters, hand made leather items, hand made garb, etc!)

SAFETY: All swords, shields, arrows, etc are made under code and are inspected before battle. Weapons that do not pass the safety test cannot be used on the field. There are loaner weapons for new people and we have classes to teach you how to build your own. We have armor rules as well! Leather armor can be worn if made to code as well as chain mail. Helmets can be worn but are not exactly needed due to the "No Head-shot's" rule (unless you are throwing Javelin's, Rock's {padded}, or shooting Arrows {also padded}...) Heck, pretty much everything is padded and inspected for safety.

NON COMS: Fighting not your thing? We need heralds. You get to wear a nice bright fancy yellow tabbard and exist among the fighters but do not get hit! You call false shots, run battles, and essentially are the referee for bad sportsmanship. Baroness Lady Nessa is a non-com, and she loves being an administrator, battle creator, and executor.

YOUR NEW HOME: Many call this home. Midwest Dagorhir (Specifically Dominion) has been around since the early 2000's! We don't plan on going anywhere any time soon!

So, if you want to get your geek on and find an amazing group of people who simply want to fight with foam swords in a team sport - this is your group.

Nerdy 30s Ladies of Kansas City

Kansas City, MO

Nerdy 30s Ladies of Kansas City
This group is for ladies in their 30's (ages 28-45) looking for authentic friendships with some really cool yet nerdy women. Some of us may be new to town, or maybe we're just realizing we need some more awesome, genuine friendships in our lives. You might be more inclined to enjoy some wine and a good book rather than go out. You might enjoy deep conversation over tea more than a night at a dance club. You might prefer to have 5 close friends rather than 20 acquaintances. If this sounds like you, you might have hit the jackpot! We try new restaurants, play games, watch movies, check out the arts and entertainment, explore the KC area, and much more. If you have ideas, please email the organizer! Let's make this fun and keep it interesting. Your Hobbies/Interests may include: NPR, knitting, crocheting, quilting, tea and coffee, thoughtful, engaging conversations, learning, cooking, gardening, museums, books, post-graduate studies, exploring nature... You may describe yourself as: introverted, funny, cerebral, unique, intelligent, fun-loving, genuine... You might like: movies, food, tea houses, art, book clubs, crafting, game or trivia nights, other cool/nerdy ladies... Nerdy 30's Ladies Guidelines 1) After 90 days, your free trial runs up. After that, in order to stay, you need to pay the annual fee. If you have trouble with this, please email the organizer. 2) After 2 no shows, you are removed from the group. 3) Many events require an organizer to make a reservation with the venue, for this reason please keep your RVSP up-to-date. While emergencies happen, if you repeatedly cancel with 24 hours of an event you will be contacted and could be removed from the group.  4) If you haven't attended a meetup event in 4 months or more, you will be removed from the Facebook group. We share a lot of personal information in the meetup group--about our families, our struggles, our lives, etc. We want the Facebook group to be a reflection of active meetup members. 5) Our primary purpose for this group is to make meaningful friendships among KC lady nerds. This means that nearly all of our events are for members only. Once in a blue moon, you may see an event open to guests, but we are primarily here to stir in our own nerd juices and enjoy a close-knit nerd family atmosphere. 6) Also, because our primary purpose is for quality friendships, we don't sell MLMs, advertise to each other, or market our businesses. Some of that may happen organically as friendships grow, but please do not solicit or promote your business, side hustle, income flow here so that we can focus on developing lasting quality friendships.

KC Nerds and Introverts

Kansas City, MO

KC Nerds and Introverts
Welcome to the KC Nerds & Introverts! The goal of the group is to help facilitate a variety of events where you can enjoy hanging out and meeting new people. We have regularly scheduled board game nights, every other Saturday. We have some D&D groups (currently full, sorry), several members who play MTG regularly. We also occasionally play Among Us together, go see a movie, go to the Ren Fest & Planet Comicon together. In the past we've had a New Year's Party, gone out for St. Patrick's Day, had a 4th of July grill out/potluck. We have several members who enjoy playing pool, going to karaoke, sports. If there's something you would like to do, just suggest it and see who else is interested in joining! While you don't have to be an introvert to join, the energy of the group is lower & slower. More low-key. \*\* AND MOST OF OUR EVENTS ARE NOT ANNOUNCED ON MEETUP. \*\* Most of our events are created and announced on Discord - another great reason to join the discord server. Most of the regulars no longer use MeetUp at all, so we rely pretty heavily on discord for communication. We do not have a public link - members can show up to an in person event, or msg an admin for an invite. ((The reason we do not have a public link is for security.)) \*\*\*\* You don't have to be an introvert to join the group, but most of us are. We all understand being shy, quiet, feeling awkward and torn between not wanting to feel left out but also anxious about meeting new people. With that said, MeetUp is literally meant to be a place to facilitate meeting new people and hanging out. The discord server is a great way to slowly get to know people before showing up at events, which can help eliminate some anxiety, hopefully. However, we do go through periodic "purges" because we want to keep the group at a manageable size, and limited to those who are actually interested in being involved. So periodically we'll remove members who haven't spoken on discord or attended any events in over 7 months. \*\*\*\*

Kansas City Adventure Club

Kansas City, KS

Kansas City Adventure Club

Hello!

And welcome to the Adventure Club. We are a bunch of semi normal people looking to explore, exercise, and just have fun. We are not limited to any particular sport or event, so if you have an idea, let us know. We will try to match up the different fitness levels with other members. And that works best if we have a large active group. But be ready to sweat and push your comfort zone.

All outdoor activities are sought after. So if you are looking for backpacking, camping, biking (road and mountain), hiking, rock climbing, skiing, scuba, sailing, flying, outdoor photography, kayaking, shooting, or anything else having to do with adventure or fun, then this may be the place. but it depends on you!

I'm hoping all of you, including the inactive ones (you know who you are.), will contact me. Please bring your thoughts, knowledge, and fun ideas. Last minute ideas are welcome too. How many times have you gone biking alone? No need to do that anymore. Please send me an email and introduce yourself, a little about why you joined, and how I can help you.

The best way to make this club work for you, is to post messages (questions, thought, ideas, advice) on the boards about what it is you like to do. Tell us your goals. Then tell me, and the club, when you would like to get a group together to enjoy the event.

I've learned that most people would rather sit and wait for someone else to post a meetup. Or they talk themselves out of attending due to a million and one reasons. Please, please, please, don't do that. That is a good way to get yourself removed from the club. Let me add - No-Shows suck! Talking yourself out of attending is also a good way to hold yourself back from many positive things. Be an active member! Have fun. Make friends. Even host an event every now and then. (highly encouraged) It's not hard. It's a great way to meet others. And you get to pick the place and activity!

Welcome aboard. I'll see you outside.

Homey

Kansas City, KS

What’s up, HOMEYs! If you want to make deeper human connections exploring a wide variety of interests, this is the group for you. HOMEY is open to everyone! All races, religions, genders, sexualities, ages, political parties, occupations, and operating systems are welcome! 😃 Why are we called HOMEY? 1. The dictionary definition of homey is pleasantly comfortable and cozy; homelike. That’s what HOMEY time aims for. 2. The colloquial definition of homey / homie is a member of a peer group. We’re all homeys in this together! 3. My definition of HOMEY is an acronym of 5 characteristics: * Heart-Centered (living in alignment with your true self; love and compassion are guiding principles) * Open-Minded (open to having new experiences) * Mission-Driven (helping others in your unique way as part of a bigger purpose) * Equity-Led (we all have our unique stories and no one is better or worse than anyone else; taking ownership of our own lives) * Youthful (constantly playing and learning) HOMEY Time (Meetup Sessions) is like… * a young professionals networking with the relationship building but without the formality and necessity to put on a mask * a workshop with an engaging activity and takeaway but without the rigid or hierarchical structure of a classroom setting * a sports and social group with the excitement, fulfillment, and play without the athletic barrier to entry or pressure to drink * group therapy or AA with the support, safety, encouragement, and accountability without the social stigma * religious study groups with the depth of conversation and insight without the religious dogmatism So if these aren’t exactly what we do, then what *do* we do? Each HOMEY Time is completely different! And it’s led by each of the members (HOMEYs). Whatever activity that a person feels compelled to facilitate, that’s what we’ll go with! Want to lead a yoga session? Let’s do it! Want to facilitate a service activity to give back to the community? Let’s do it! Want to organize a sand volleyball game? Let’s do it! Want to have a deep, philosophical, spiritual discussion? Let’s do it! Want to host a potluck dinner and board game night? Let’s do it! So what are you waiting for?! Come to the next HOMEY Time and experience it all for yourself! Welcome home, HOMEY!
