Boston Social Sports

Boston Social Sports and Recreation is a Meetup featuring one day sporting meetups, discounted event tickets, and sports leagues. Our goal is to offer a unique social experience where meeting new friends and making a connection are just as important as the sports themselves. We pride ourselves in running the most fun, welcoming, personal leagues in the city!

We are currently featuring singles social sports. By matching you on a team of players within your age group and from your neighborhood, making connections have never been easier! To learn more about singles social sports please check out our website or email Jess.

Do you want to start a pickup game? We invite our members to offer social sports events! Please email us and let us know what you would like to do (the more details, the better). If we feel this is a good fit for the group, we will post the meetup.

CrewFinder

Newburyport, MA

CrewFinder

CrewFinder is for people who want to actively pursue sailing connections. Skippers find Crew and can network with fellow Skippers. Crew will find a variety of styles and types of sailing. Beginners can meet mentors. Experienced sailors, who are currently boatless, will find the Skippers who are seeking their seasoned skills too.

The fundamental goal here is to increase your hours of sailing & offer a place to share information, contribute knowledge, grow skills, broaden on-water experience, and meet the sailing buddies you will most enjoy, respect, and find dependable. This starts with developing an informative Profile that tells others who you are, what you bring and hope to gain here.

To generate more sailing for all members, we start by catering to Skippers. Skippers define the terms of their sailing day and the type of Crew they seek. We are not a sailing school, but many Skippers enjoy mentoring and newbies curious to explore sailing are welcome. We ask that you be here to actively engage in the sport, want to contribute and have an authentic interest in sailing.

If you RSVP to sail, you're offering to help operate a sailboat. Before you offer, learn about the boat, the Skipper and what will be asked of you. Your offer to crew can be declined or accepted. An RSVP to sail isn't a guaranteed seat, a ticket-to-ride, or a boarding-pass for a free harbor cruise. And unlike many other types of MeetUp event postings, a sailing RSVP is not an offer for crewing respondents to invite their own added Guests.

We have active members in coastal Maine, NH, MA, Rhode Island, & the lakes regions of New Hampshire and Vermont. Our varied calendar and geographically distributed events let you meet fellow enthusiasts and expand your network year-round. You're encouraged to add events to the calendar that will help grow the network in your specific area too. Take the lead, ask for some posting tips, then invite others the sailing activities you enjoy & want to share.

Is this the place to pursue Your sailing interests? Join & find-out. Experiment with new places to sail, different types of boats, and different styles of sailing. Hear about the area's most affordable classes, or find informal on-water learning opportunities. Meet fellow enthusiasts & share good times under sail. Skippers: Never again leave your boat unsailed for lack of Crew! Post here, build your roster, and fill your days with all the sailing you wish.

C&C (Boston Cards and Conversation)

Stoneham, MA

C&C (Boston Cards and Conversation)

"You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation."

- Plato

WHO WE ARE

C&C (Boston Cards and Conversation) is a social networking community in Greater Boston. Founded in 2009, our goal is to get together to do different types of fun activities as a way to socialize and meet new people. We have an active membership that is amazingly diverse, composed of men and women of all ages.

WHAT WE DO

Most events allow members to mingle while playing card games, board games and party games. However, we also play outdoor games and sports too -- like miniature golf, laser tag, pool, bocce, geocaching and more! No matter the event, our members benefit by making connections on a personal and professional level while doing fun activities. Nothing like a game of Apples to Apples to get the conversation rolling!

WHERE WE MEET

We hold about a dozen events a month at locations in the Greater Boston area. We try to make most of our events T-accessible. Some our most common locations are in Boston, Somerville, Medford and Waltham. Outdoor or non-board game events are usually held north of the city.

WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL

Our members say that we provide some of the best events on Meetup. Our events tend to be well organized into order to provide our members a unique experience. Because of social networking focus, we require that all of our members participate in our community. Membership requires approval, and all members agree to follow our group membership policy before joining.

As of July 1, 2012 -- For security reasons, all new member applications must include a face photo of the member (no logos, designs or pictures of cats please!). Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Amesbury Board Game Group

Amesbury, MA

Amesbury Board Game Group
* We are a board game group! * We host events in Amesbury, Massachusetts. * We are a welcoming and inclusive group, always willing to teach and bring more folks into the hobby. If you love to play board games or are interested in learning, this group is for you. We will always have plenty of games available, but you are also welcome to bring your own. The most important thing in this group is to be friendly and inclusive, and have fun! **FAQs:** • **I'm new to board gaming and a little nervous about coming out. Will there be anyone to teach me games?** Absolutely! We have a lot of people who are new to gaming and there are sooo many new games that even those of us who are seasoned gamers are regularly learning new games. Teaching games is a passion here and we also do our best to help people get matched up with other players at the open gaming events.  • **I like board games, but a lot of the ones I see as events here are longer, more complex games. I'm into shorter and/or less complex games. Is this group for me?** Yes, it is! Part of the reason we host complex games as individual events is to get together the folks who want to play those games, specifically. If you come to one of our open board gaming events there will be a variety of types of games available to play and attendees with a variety of game interests.  • **Are children allowed at these events?** These events (unless otherwise specified) are not geared towards children; however, there is no specific age restriction - it's more about the type of games being played. For example: if your 7 year old can take on the adults in a game of Carcassonne or Azul and wants to join us, your 7 year old is welcome. If your 7 year old wants to play Chutes and Ladders or Trouble, it would probably be challenging to find a willing participant. Still not sure? Feel free to send a message and ask!   • **Is there a charge to attend these events?** Great question! Generally, these events will be free. We strive to make gaming accessible and look for locations that won't result in us having to charge. If there is ever a need to charge for an event, it will be indicated within the specific event. • **Where does the group meet?** The group is meant to be geographically focused primarily in Amesbury, MA. We meet at a variety of places around Amesbury. The location will be posted for each event.

Living Root Dragon Boat - Boston
Looking to get in shape? Want to be a part of a team sport? Interested in meeting a diverse and fun group of new friends? Join Living Root Dragon Boat. We are always looking for new members.  We are a competitive Boston-based dragon boat team. We're made up of about 60 to 80 people from all genders, races, age groups, and smartness levels. We get together several times a week to practice dragon boating. We compete all over the region and traveled to Canada, China, Puerto Rico, Philadelphia, Florida and San Francisco. Off the water, we are a close group of friends and we like to do stuff! All kinds of stuff!! Teamwork is really important to us and we try really hard to integrate new paddlers into the team. If you're new to the area, dragon boat is a great way to meet people and make friends. If you've been in Boston for years and you're tired of your old friends, we can help freshen up your social life. **What to Expect When you Show Up**  The first three practices are free to allow for you to try out the sport and meet the team; there is no obligation or pressure to join at that time! We’ll provide all the gear and the coaching and all the socializing you could ever want. After the trial period, we hope you’ll continue your journey with us by purchasing an annual membership since the team’s gear, boats, and space fees (such as pool rental) depend on these contributions. We practice twice a week, and we're always looking for new people to come paddle with us. No experience necessary! Our excellent coaches will teach you everything you need to know. If you are in good shape, we will work you out! If you are still trying to get in shape, don’t worry, many of our current team members started where you are. We will make you bad ass. Inquire about membership on our website or ask a coach. Please sign our [waiver](https://forms.gle/WJRiRZhB8iqsN7VZ9) before attending your first practice. Our organizers are not tour guides, we're not rangers going out with us is the same as going out with a few friends expect the same risks, take the same precautions as organizers, we will do our best to give accurate descriptions of the hikes we post if you're a beginning hiker, a hike's elevation and distance may not mean much to you likewise, difficulty ratings are subjective, and a hike that is "easy" to one person may be "moderate" to another always Err on the side of caution. You're much better off going on a hike that's too easy for you than a hike that's too hard or too dangerous for you and as you go on more hikes with us, you'll become more familiar with our ratings and our descriptions, and you'll learn more about your own limits. Ultimately, it's up to you to keep yourself safe out there you're an adult Hike within your limits .

We are Solo Wilderness First Aid Certified ..

Conscious Men's Hiking Group

Medford, MA

Conscious Men's Hiking Group
Welcome to our Conscious Men's Hiking Group! Are you a man who seeks meaningful connections with like-minded individuals while immersing yourself in nature? Look no further! Join us for exhilarating hikes where we combine the serenity of the great outdoors with the opportunity to bond with conscious men just like you. I've been organizing these hikes offline for a couple of years, and very recently opened it up to meetup. Our group is dedicated to exploring picturesque trails, challenging ourselves physically, and fostering a supportive environment for personal growth and camaraderie. During our hikes, we maintain a quick pace over challenging terrain, allowing us to push a bit and embrace the thrill of adventure. Over the course of approximately 3 hours, we'll conquer the trails together, encouraging one another every step of the way. You must be physically fit and experienced in order to participate. After our invigorating hike, we come together to enjoy a well-deserved lunch. We fire up the grill and savor the nutritious and delicious taste of grilled meat, creating a perfect opportunity to relax, share stories, and strengthen the bonds we've formed on the trail. Our intention is to do about 2 hikes a month. One fast-paced hike, and one moderate-paced ruck. Rucking is the sport of hiking with a weighted backpack. There isn't a strict weight requirement, but a big point of this group is helping men challenge each other in a supportive masculine container. These hikes will be at a moderate pace (still not slow). If you are not a fast hiker, please don't attend the fast-paced event. Our group welcomes men of all backgrounds who are committed to personal growth, connection, and embracing nature's beauty. Our hikes provide the ideal setting to reflect, recharge, and connect with a community of conscious Men who share similar values. Is this your tribe? Will you fit in? Here is a bit more that describes us: * We are Men between the ages of 25-60. * We know how to share, and we know how to listen. * We are comfortable in deep conversation, and we're comfortable in silence. * We strive to embody the mature masculine archetype. * We act with intention. * We pay honor to our health by eating healthy and exercising. * We are not putting on an act to try and fit in. * Many of us hike with minimalist shoes, some barefoot. * Sometimes we do these hikes fasted (meaning not fed). * We are comfortable being uncomfortable. * We support sacred plant medicine, not on these events, but the topic comes up in conversation often. * We can laugh at ourselves, and we might laugh at you. * We do not gossip. * We rarely drink alcohol, we may smoke something occasionally. * We have compassion for other people's struggles, and we have no interest in learning their preferred pronouns. Is this you? Then join us on our next adventure and experience the transformative power of nature, friendship, and self-discovery. Lace up your hiking shoes, leave the hustle and bustle behind, and embark on a journey that will leave you feeling refreshed, inspired, and connected. **Membership requirements:** * Ensure you are physically prepared for challenging hikes. * Bring suitable hiking attire and water. * We are a group of men that holds ourselves to high standards of integrity. You are your word. If you RSVP that you are going, and then you no-show, you're not a fit for this group. If you try to show up without RSVP'ing, you're also not a fit. * Your meetup profile must have a real picture of you, including your face.
