DC Women's Sports fans
Washington, DC
Are you a women's soccer fan? How about women's basketball? Any other women's sports? Are you LGBTQI+ or an ally looking to mix your sports passion with some social networking? If so, this group is for you! If you like soccer, we'll organize outings to watch Washington Spirit games and the occasional U.S. Women's National Team game at sports bars around D.C. For the basketball fans, we watch Washington Mystics games and UMD women's basketball. Want to see another sport? Just add a comment on the discussion board or message Sarah!
Meetup charges me about $90 every 6 months to be an organizer. Making a contribution will help sustain this group in the long run. Contribute here (https://secure.meetup.com/Washington-Musicals-Meetup/contribute/), or you can message Sarah to contribute via Venmo or PayPal.
Hyattsville Gaming Conclave
Hyattsville, MD
This group is dedicated to organizing gaming sessions, running the gamut from Eurogames to Wargames, with party games not unwelcome. Eurogames "are a broad class of tabletop games that generally have simple rules, short to medium playing times, high levels of player interaction, and attractive physical components. The games emphasise strategy, downplay luck and conflict, lean towards economic rather than military themes, and usually keep all the players in the game until it ends... Their rulebooks are typically four to twelve pages long and playing times are on the order of 30 to 120 minutes. These games appeal to a wide range of ages, though generally not very young children. The audience includes casual gamers, who play with family and friends, as well as more serious hobby gamers" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German-style_b...). Adults only please. Parents are welcome to bring children if the kids won't disturb the festivities. We're happy to teach folks how to play a new game so don't fret if you haven't played one of these games before. Come on by for a fun time and to meet new folks!
