**ABOUT SCWDC, WHO ARE WE?** Great Sports for All Seasons!  In continuous operation since 1936.    We started out as a ski club.  And now we’ve morphed into something much larger.  Nowadays, in response to our members’ preferences, we sponsor a wide variety of sporting activities and adventure travel at group rates for active adults.  We are active year round with winter sports activities like skiing and snowboarding, tennis, bowling and volleyball.   During the summer, it’s sailing, golf, softball and Nationals baseball games attendance.  All year round, we sponsor pickleball events and happy hours at local establishments.  Finally, from our partnerships with Viking, Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) and Club Med, we sponsor adventure travel to Europe on Viking cruises, or Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT).  Our partnership with Club Med enables us to offer trips to their locations worldwide.  Our partnership with Annapolis Naval Sailing Association enables us to provide sailing events on the Chesapeake Bay, as well as sailboat training. Women (only) pick up sports group. Any sport be it soccer, basketball, flag football, or any other sport you want to do. Games are for **all levels/beginner unless stated otherwise.** All members can and are encouraged to host events. Running this group is expensive, so if you could-- please donate to the group. The purpose of this group page is to match sport and sport touring motorcycle riders in the greater Washington DC area with a variety of ride events through Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Routes are chosen that employ rural back roads to two lane mountain highways with an emphasis on interesting scenery and destinations on winding roads with little to no traffic. Route length will vary from 100 to as long as 500 miles and are usually one day events. Stops will be made every 100 miles or so for fuel, a quick snack or rest or photos at scenic locations. A full meal stop will be scheduled around the midway point. Pace will depend on the road traveled and rides are open to all skill levels. Rides will be scheduled on most weekends with several days advance notice depending on weather. This is not a motorcycle club. There are no required meetings or membership dues.

This is a group for anyone interested in community activities/events in SE DC (organized runs, sports, sip & paint, game nights, movies, volunteering, etc.) This group is meant to help neighbors connect and enrich our community.

Are home fields gonna be @ West Potomac park on the bank of the river in NW, Fields are well manicured and the views of the Potomac are unreal. Lastly, We have a Zero Tolerance policy on harassment so if we see anything off or get evidence of misconduct you will be immediately removed from play and the group permanently. Treating each other with respect is integral to making this league grow so we want to make sure everyone involved feels safe in this space. This is the meetup group for We Don't Quit (WDQ) Adventure Racing Club. WDQ Adventure Racing Club strives to get more people of color active and into the nature.  To this aim we help to prepare people of all fitness levels with the skill sets and the conditioning needed to participate in Adventure Races, and of course have a lot of fun while doing it.  All levels of experience and fitness are welcome. We will have at least 2 training sessions per month and field teams in races throughout the year. What is Adventure Racing? Adventure Racing (expedition racing) is a multi-disciplinary team sport involving navigation over an unmarked wilderness course with races extending anywhere from two hours up to two weeks in length and is a whole lot of fun. Do I have to run a lot? You do not need to be able to jog long distances to participate in an Adventure Race.  Hiking is just fine for entry level type of races What if I cant swim? You do not need to be able swim.  During ALL water legs a Life vest is required and you will be in a Canoe, kayak, paddle board or raft. " Don't want no Drama just fun!\*\* We've already rode over 500 events. No Commitments, no vests/colors, no mandatory meetings or, prospecting. Just RSVP and arrive at the meetup location ready to ride with a "FULL" tank of gas. New to riding, don't worry! you're welcome too. Kickstands Up started the SSR Events. Short Sunday Rides. If new to riding & riding with a motorcycle group, consider the short Sunday afternoon rides first. **KU Rider Charles Caleb Colton said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".** And yes It is flattering when other motorcycle meetups copy our description, ideals & events. DC Underwater sports (rugby and hockey) are open coed sports. We teach and practice swimming underwater using basic snorkeling gear. We welcome all recreational and professional swimmers, free divers and divers of all levels, ages, and backgrounds. Underwater rugby and hockey are truly 3D sports that will challenge your body and mind, teach you new swimming skills, and provide opportunities for new friends, travel and adventures.
