Twenties Club Raleigh (Age 21-31 social club)

Raleigh, NC

Twenties Club Raleigh (Age 21-31 social club)

The scenario: You are young, probably single without family obligations, and in a new city.  You don't know anyone local from school or growing up. The people at work, where you spend most of your days, are much older than you are. You are uncomfortable checking out new places by yourself. It dawns on you that making friends that you want to meet regularly is not easy. How do people make friends in the real world? It was so much easier in school!

There is a need for a YOUNG group of new college grads and young professionals, the 20 somethings who are in the same life stage. There are other "20s and 30s" groups but those seem to lean more towards the older end of the spectrum and don't properly serve the 20s demographic. If you've recently moved to the area, post-college or for work, and are missing your old friends or having trouble making new ones, this is the group for you! If you've ever wanted to go out and do something only to realize that you don't have other similar aged acquaintances you'd enjoy doing those things with, you found the purpose of this social club.

This is not meant to be a typical meetup group, with lame events, sporadic attendance, and awkward interactions. We started this group to create a network of young professionals in our area that can go do a variety of activities that can be casual and fit into busy schedules. We're looking for people who want to invest in their local community, enrich their social calendar, and get out and do stuff. If things go well, We  hope this will be the only meetup group you need to look at while living in Raleigh.

A few of things we hope to do monthly is happy hours, weekend bar crawls, weekend trips, pickup sports, hiking, boating, paintball, trivia nights, dinners, brunch, concerts, brewery tours, wine tastings, sporting events. You know, typical stuff that people our age like to do.

This is not a dating group, or a singles group, though hopefully some of you can find a special someone if you are looking. Please be mature, kind, open to meeting new people, have some education past high school, and be between the ages of 21 and 31. Invite your friends and lets prove that life after college doesn't have to suck!

The Raleigh Epic Rides Group

Raleigh, NC

The Raleigh Epic Rides Group

Note: We are currently closed off for membership but selectively taking new members in order to maintain a level of safety on our rides.  As noted below, we are primarily sport bike and sport touring riders.  Please contact the group organizer and give some info about yourself, style of riding, experience level, and type of motorcycle you ride to determine if you are a good fit. Again, we keep our group in private status so that we can focus on safety and attract riders that will fit well into our group. We highly encourage newer sport riders to join as well.

What IS an "epic ride" ? Websters defines epic as " majestic, impressively great". That's what were striving for with this Meetup group. A chance to meet some wonderful new riders that you might have otherwise just waved at as you passed them on the road, but also to have some "epic" rides to various destinations. Whether it's a trip to VIR for a weekend race, an overnight mountain camping ride, a cruise through the country side down to the beach, or just a weeknight get together to tear up some backroads, we're in search of the epic ride.

We're geared more towards the mature sport bike and sport tourer rider and are proud to have members from various ethic and cultural backgrounds as well as orientations. The only thing we ask is that you be safety minded, mature, and have a sense of adventure. I am happy to say this is a wonderful group of individuals that I have shared some amazing rides with.

So stop posing at the local watering hole and get out there and RIDE ! We've got some great ideas for destination rides coming up, so come on in and join up !

Oak City Locksport

Raleigh, NC

Oak City Locksport
**Oak City Locksport** is the original Raleigh area lockpicking group, founded in 2010 by Katie (aka "sq33k"), and led today by Patrick (aka "[unregistered436](https://twitter.com/unregistered436)"). While we are not a [TOOOL](http://toool.us) chapter, we were fostered by the TOOOL US president Deviant Ollam, and we remain friends to this day. We meet once a month to pick locks, share interesting locks or projects, and have a beer with friends. Check out our [YouTube Channel!](https://www.youtube.com/OakCityLocksport) We're focused on fun and education! We welcome newcomers to this hobby, and are more than willing to teach the basics to get you started. There are no startup costs or membership fees, though we won't refuse the occasional donation to replace damaged items or expand the collection. We have some "community" locks and picks so there is no need to bring anything to your first meetups, but most people end up buying their own picks once they're hooked! Most people pick up this hobby because locks are like little metal puzzles. It's useful to learn about the relative security (or insecurity) of the locks we use in everyday life. There are many different variations of the saying, but "Locks are for honest people". A real criminal is more likely to break a window, use bolt cutters, or crash through a door. Besides our Meetups you might also find us running the Lockpick Village at regional security conferences such as CackalackyCon or BSidesRDU. Is learning to pick locks and possessing lock picks legal in the state of North Carolina? You bet! BUT, you've got to make sure to follow a few simple rules: \ • Do not pick a lock you rely upon. The lock may be damaged in your practice and stop functioning. \ • Do not pick a lock you do not own unless given explicit permission. Always warn the owner that it's possible damage may occur. \ • Do not offer services or receive compensation for picking a lock unless you are licensed as a Locksmith in the state of North Carolina (NC GS 74F). \ • Use your powers for good, not evil. Do not share your skills with those you suspect will lockpick to commit a crime. Also note that possession of lock picks with intent to break into a home or business is escalated up to a Class I Felony (NC GS 14-55). See our Wiki for lockpicking references and information on the lock library that members have access to ([https://oakcitylocksport.com/](https://oakcitylocksport.com/)) We can also be found on Twitter at [@oakcitylocks](https://twitter.com/oakcitylocks). **Note:** While this is a public Meetup, we reserve the right to ask participants to leave if they are disrespectful, disruptive, disreputable. Yeah, we'll "dis" you.
