Calling all Poodle & Doodle dog owners in Morris County! I’ve noticed there are so many social groups for our pups in NYC, but it’s hard to always travel into the city to befriend Poodle & Doodle owners. I’m looking for anyone who wants to hang out around Morris County with our pups, whether it’s for coffee, drinks, or play dates. I’d love to attend or create dog friendly events in the area with a group of poodle & doodle owners who are looking to make memories and friends along the way. 🫶

The purpose of this group is to explore recreational sports in and around Middlesex NJ area like Badminton, Cricket, Pickleball, Table Tennis (Ping Pong) and more... Social events will also be planned.

What is our main purpose?
To provide dancers like us a fun place to meet, play, learn, and dance. Meet with people across NJ, NY, PA, and beyond for every kind of dancing - Swing, Ballroom, Tango, Latin. Unlike other dance meetups, our meetup leaders are just volunteers who dance for the pleasure of it!

Who should join us?
Dancers & aspiring dancers (Singles or Couples) who are interested in social dancing as a hobby. Beginners who are looking for avenues to learn and practice social dancing.

What are typical meetups like?
Take a dance lesson and then dance as little or as much as you please at the dance party.

Play Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in the US, at Princeton Racquet Club. **Welcome to the 21st Century Scientific Wing Chun Initiative!** *We are a diverse and tight-knit community that started in New Jersey back in 2017, but now we have 8 communities that spans 5 states, 2 universities, both coasts, and we even have locations in other countries and continents!* **We are practitioners of a martial art called Wing Chun**, which came from Southern China 200+ years ago that is supposedly named after a woman of the same name. The martial art became incredibly popular in Hong Kong in the 20th century through notable figures like *Ip Man* and *Wong Shun Leung*, and reached global fame when *Bruce Lee* and other action stars brought it into the limelight. **Wing Chun focuses on efficiency and economy of motion**. It is far less of a style and much more a systematic way of moving, thinking, and learning. It is a robust skillset that is designed to maximize whatever build or background you have when it comes to martial arts and self defense. **You do not need to be a specific type of person to do martial arts**. What we do isn't geared towards going into combat sports where you're going to be fighting another person for 5-12 rounds. We simply teach you how to use your body to generate force and speed effectively, so that you can get out of whatever situation you may or may not find yourself in when living your normal day-to-day life. We like to have fun, joke around, and hang out before and after class. While Wing Chun certainly isn't a joke, there's no point if you're not having fun and making friends. **Wing Chun is a very misunderstood martial art**. A lot of misinformation has been spreading since the 80s at the height of its popularity. Many schools around the world teach Wing Chun in ways that make it highly ineffective. Because of this, our mission is to teach Wing Chun empirically and scientifically. Wing Chun, when taught correctly, is easily one of the best martial arts for real-world use in existence. When taught incorrectly, it's probably the worst thing you can waste your time on. *If you have had a bad experience with Wing Chun previously, please consider checking us out. Even if you have never heard about pickleball or have heard about it and have been wondering “What is pickleball?” then this is the club for you. **What Is Pickleball?** Pickleball is a fun, social and friendly game. Its original purpose was to provide a game that a whole family could play together. The rules are simple and fairly easy for beginners to learn (wait until you learn about scoring😊0-0-2). You only need to do this once a year - the first time you attend an event. 3. **Sign-in.** We ask you to print and initial your name when you attend an event. Signing in provides us with useful metrics that we use to plan events and to let townships know just how many people are attending our events. This documentation, supports our requests for more courts, increase playtimes, court repairs, etc. 4. **Wear a name tag.** Names matter! They are how we identify. Wearing a name tag allows us to greet each other and call each other by our names. Name tags will be provided by our club. **Origin Story** LBPC came from the mind and heart of Laurell (Lau-rell), who wanted to introduce pickleball to everyone she met and to create a space where everyone was welcome, **especially beginners**.   Laurell first learned about pickleball from a colleague at work during teacher appreciation week in May 2021. Via zoom, her colleague, shared the rules and her passion for the game and invited Laurell to play pickleball the next day in Willingboro, NJ.   After her first time playing, (about two hours of pickleball) Laurell was hooked. The following day, Sunday, she was measuring her side yard and researching what it would cost to put in a home pickleball court. Being not the most *realistic* and *affordable* plan, Laurell knew she had to find a way to create a place where anyone could walk onto a court and learn about pickleball in Lower Bucks County.   Laurell then introduced her friend Karen to pickleball. She sent her a text that Monday and they arranged for Karen to learn about the sport about a week later. Karen also became hooked, and they teamed up to help spread their love for the game. It wasn’t long, a month later, before the two started a Facebook group and a handful of players joined. From people already playing at Firefighters Park, to people who walked their dogs by the courts, to anyone else who was curious about the game – Laurell drew them in and the group grew.   But, Laurell had a larger vision – she hoped to have more people playing more often, and to have courts reserved for pickleballers. So, Laurell and Karen expanded the group to Meetup (Aug 21, 2021).   And, that was when we realized just how many pickleball lovers were in the Lower Bucks and surrounding areas. Within two months, the Meetup grew to more than 150 members, and the courts were filled for every event we schedule.   So, we’re glad you’re here.
