I'll be hosting a writing group at Deja Brew Cafe at Richmond Hill every Thursday night from 6 pm to 8 pm. Writing tends to be a solitary hobby and this group is here to bring the social element to it. Make sure to buy some coffee and some food to support the business. All writers are welcome to work on their stories, scripts, poetry, journaling, and anything related to writing. We're a supportive space to help each other form or gain back discipline for whatever piece of writing you're working on. If you have difficulty maintaining focus and commitments or going on and off with the piece you want to complete, this is the place for you to break through your writer's block. Adress: 102-10 Jamaica Ave, Richmond Hill, NY 11418 How sprints are done: 1. We start with a 5-minute sprint to get any writing down as quickly as possible to get into the writing mood. 2. After the first sprint, we introduce ourselves to the group and what we are working on today. 3. Next, we have a 25-minute sprint in silence to avoid disturbing anyone during that time. 4. Once the sprint is done, we take a 10-minute break and talk about what we are working on, what books you've been reading, or you could talk about something completely different if you like. It is a break after all, so use it however you want. 5. 3 and 4 repeat until we end near 8 pm, around when the cafe is about to close.

Foundation of Wing Chun:

According to Grand Master Yip Man, Wing Chun was developed by Ng Mui, who was Abbess at the Henan Shaolin Monastery and managed to survive its destruction by Qing forces during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor (1662–1722). She fled to the White Crane Temple (somewhere in the Daliang mountains between Yunnan and Sichuan), where she met a girl of fifteen named Yim Wing-Chun whom a bandit was trying to force into marriage. Ng Mui taught Wing-Chun how to defend herself by distilling Shaolin martial art knowledge into a system that Wing-Chun could learn quickly and use without developing great strength.
