I live on LI, but I love NYC!

Port Jefferson, NY

I live on LI, but I love NYC!
SEE THE **FULL EVENT** SCHEDULE [HERE](https://www.meetup.com/I-live-on-LI-but-I-love-NYC/events/upcoming) This is a a group for people who live and work on LI, temporarily or long-term, but who recognize we are in one of the greatest metropolitan areas in the world. It's for people who are creatures of the city, with all its diversity, possibilities, opportunities, and excitement. To be sure, we will make excursions into the city--and that includes Queens and Brooklyn as well as Manhattan...and let's not forget the Bronx and Staten Island as well. However, we will get together here on Long Island too, in the interest of promoting convenience and encouraging inclusion by people whose budgets may not allow them to take trips to the city as frequently as they'd like. The point of this group is as much to allow meeting, forming friendships, and having fellowship with others whose hearts belong in the city, as it is to take trips into the city for all that it offers. Examples of trips to the city might include entertainment/cultural outings, intellectual pursuits, and social justice and human rights entreaties. There will be options to suit most anyone! We might attend an improv comedy night with the Upright Citizens Brigade, attend the Museum of Modern Art, join a march or demonstration to promote social justice, human rights, or other progressive cause, walk along the Highline Park and visit a brewpub or vegetarian eatery, frolic or picnic in Central Park or in Brooklyn, attend professional sporting event, or take a tip from Time Out New York, the Village Voice, the New York Press, the Indypendent, the NY Times, the NY Daily News, or some other suggestion source. Long Island events may include a potluck, movie outing, dining option, winery tour, dance night in Huntington or some other locale, etc., with tips taken from the LI Press, Newsday, News 12 LI, Long Island Pulse Magazine, and other sources. The options are endless, but linking them all are progressive-minded people open to try new things. Our homes and travels may be on LI, but our hearts and minds belong to NYC, wandering from Greenwhich Village to the Lower East Side to Brooklyn and beyond!

This meetup group formerly known as SNT-LI

On Jan 4, 2013,  Robert "ROB" (Head Organizer of the Queens/Western Nassau Tennis & Networking Meetup Group) has taken over the SNT-LI Group.

With the help of existing members and my experience running the Outdoor Tennis Group (QWN Tennis and Networking),  we will do best and revive the popular SNTLI Group format during the late Fall, Winter and Spring months indoors for the tennis starved community in NYC and L.I.

Please join us in our upcoming winter indoor events at Deer Park Tennis.

Starting in April, please join the QWN Tennis & Networking Meetup group for OUTDOOR tennis events through out the year.

Long Island Psychoactive Society Meetup Group

Greenlawn, NY

Long Island Psychoactive Society Meetup Group
We want to meet a cadre of drug warriors, to Put the last Nail in the coffin of prohibitionist drug policy . both Drug Users and non-users should attend our meetings. All those interested in changes of consciousness brought about by Psychoactive interactions of matter, energy, and time, plants, fungi, animals, drugs, chemicals, energy stimulation, meditation, exercise / sports, dancing, singing, playing, listening, feeling.... anything and everything related to psychoactive experiences (hopefully some peak experiences) that demonstrate altered thinking and perception will be explored. Initially we have the following Goals. 1. To form a political / lobbying nonprofit with the task of dismantling prohibition locally, State, Federal, (and globally) and replacing it with a new framework of harm reduction, increased civil liberties and human rights, a balance of libertarian freedom and well thought out progressive regulations when needed . a. To this end we will set up compelling challenge cases to go to the supreme court to get most prohibitionist drug laws declared unconstitutional. b. To ensure the inalienable rights of consenting adults to alter consciousness, pursue happiness, and engage in Psychoactively altering behavior in any way they wish as long as they do not cause substantial harm to other individuals and society; we propose this as a new constitutional amendment. Assisted Suicide should be declared a valid medical option if it is done humanely and responsibly. c.Amend the Prohibition and End of Prohibition amendments to replace "alcohol" with "'Any Psychoactive substance or technique" 2. to Form a new Religion -- one without dogma and open to Theists, Atheists, and Agnostics -- and register it as a nonprofit. We propose initially "The Orphic Congregation of Eleusis" a. the religion exists to generate a framework for using entheogens and psychoactives and other methods and techniques that have been sucessful, teaching best practices with an aim of harm reduction and members having the best possible experiences from whatever combination of stimuli and response path they have chosen for now. b. the religion will be a "lay focused" religion and encourage discussion, debate, and rambling in different tangential directions to educate and inform members and the public C. secure freedom from oppression for Congregation members who are targeted for illegal activity; and show society an example of responsible well thought out use of psychoactive substances and energy. 3. To meet regularly once or twice a month at rotating different locations that are ethos friendly, hosted by those with adequate space who support our agenda. Long Island is big so we need to cater to Montauk as well as Long Beach. Brooklyn and Queens are on Long Island too! I am open to expanding the group to the NY Metro Area. NY Psychoactive Meetup? 4. At meetings we will discuss any topic related to the rhizomes of consciousness and psychoactivity. Psychosomatic, Body, Brain, Mind, Environment, Universe, Multiverse... it's all open for discussion . a. trip reports b. warnings of negative experiences or bad information to others c. networking, exchanging business cards and phone numbers d. discussions of best practices of plant, fungus, toad, cultivation and care. e. discussing drug policy changes needed and strategies to ensure progress Once drug laws change for the better we will hold bazaar events where we can all barter or buy, potluck vegas buffet of everything out there to try. We can go on retreats to destinations and have group experiences. Until then keep it all low key and on the "qt" -- any gifting, buying or bartering of anything currently prohibited should be done elsewhere, just exchange info and meet up on your own later for now until we achieve our goals. The Venues or residences hosting the meetings will establish ad hoc policies for things like smoking, vaping, and other forms and techniques of drug use or psychoactive technique or method (whirling dervish, meditation, etc.) members may be interested in undertaking at a meeting in a particular venue. Until we develop our own site(s) for the goals and tasks outlined above we will use www.stashmaven.com as home base.
