The Albany Rebels are a co-ed athletic and social club competing in the Irish sports of Gaelic football and hurling. Gaelic football and hurling are fast, exhilarating and very fun sports that combine attributes of many other sports including soccer, rugby, basketball and more! All ages and genders are welcome to participate in trainings, games, and social events. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about and celebrate this fantastic aspect of Irish culture and sport while competing with a great group of teammates!

Looking to talk to other empaths and/or HSPs and create a safe, calm space where people can share how they’re feeling and meet other empaths/HSPs, either just to connect or to explore hobbies/interests. This is a lesbian meet-up group for women to get together for social activities, as well as community events.

Ages 21 and up.

What is the aim:

The aim is to facilitate members to meet new friends, expand social networks, and have a splendid gay ol’time during our social adventures.

Her story:

I know it is particularly hard to find lesbians to connect with in the Capital Region. Dating sites can be intimidating and weird and going out to a gay club to find a friend can be a daunting experience. It does not matter whether you are single or married, into the dating scene or into being a crazy cat-lady, a bookworm or a sports fan, newly out or new in town; this meet-up will be a great support for women to connect with others.

Social activities:

Picnics, paintball, bowling, movies, ice-skating, karaoke, dining, hikes, sporting events, rallies, art openings, drink and draws, yoga, and the list shall go on.

I envision a lesbian collective where we have lots of members suggesting lots of different events! If you have an idea for an event, suggest it. There are so many interesting things going on in our region. Let’s find out what they are and share them as a group.

Come out and join Albany's Premier Women's Social Outings, Sports Pick-Up Games and Adventure Club! This Meetup group is intended to provide a Fun, Friendly and "Safe Space" for the audacious gal/women/female or non-binary person whom identifies as Straight, Fluid, Lesbian and Transgender or friends/supporters of LGBT; to connect with others and meet other like-minded women for social outings and activities, playing and participating in indoor/outdoor sports, recreational excursions and weekend escapades. Everything that this club offers wets even the persnickety pallet. There is something for every taste, be it playing recreational sports (volleyball, softball, soccer, basketball, rugby, badminton, kickball, ping pong and dodge-ball); attending sporting events (especially the Siena Saints and hockey games at Union College and RPI! Some other favorites are indoor rock-climbing, kayaking, mini golf, riding the go carts, ice skating, roller skating, paintball, "Golf Scrambles & Lobster Bake" outings, paint and sips, going to the shooting range and even horseback riding. During our Winter months we enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, ice skating and snowboarding. We even have daytime snowshoeing and for our gals whom are night owls you can attend our “Full moon 🌕 Snowshoeing event, followed by hot cocoa.” Moreover, during our Summer /Autumn months we like to hold events while you are able to enjoy the beautiful weather.  Such events include; day excursions and/or weekend adventures such as hiking, kayaking, "Sunday Funday's," attending Concerts and County Fair's, white water rafting, Hunter Mountain's Zipline, and Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course! The latter are incredibly challenging, but exhilarating and simply spectacular! We even have Game Night, Movie Night and Comedy Night with a "Bite!"  We love to have kickball and dodge-ball tourney's (for charity and fun), play Bingo, hold "Thirsty Thursdays" each month at various local restaurants and of course there is..Who wants to poker? Formerly "Lazy Ass Sports!" we've decided to change our name. It was a good name, but it no longer reflected what we were doing since we've been getting in shape from all the hiking we do. We've wanted to do more challenging hikes, and the title has been misleading for those who show up thinking that this will be an easier hike since the name was "Lazy Ass Sports." We also don't do a lot of other sports besides hiking, but I'm always open to it.  Before you sign on to an event, please read the description. If you don't think you can handle the hike, there's no shame in waiting for one that you feel comfortable doing. It's better for all if you are safe. :) We're working on a rating system to make it easier for you to identify the difficulty of a hike.  We welcome you to join our group with the understanding that fitness and sports activities are dangerous, and can result in injury or death. By joining our group and participating in our events, you agree to hold the organizers, event hosts, and members harmless from any loss, damage, or liability that may occur during the event or in transit to/from the event. Safety first, ya know. Policy update (10/3/17): Lately we have had an issue with people RSVPing for a meetup and dropping at the last minute or being a no-show without changing their RSVP. This prevents people who may want to go from being able to because there aren't enough spots. It also makes us wait for people and prevents us from starting the adventure at the time we planned to. In order to prevent this, we will only wait 10 minutes beyond our meetup time for arrivals. If you no-show or drop at the last minute twice, you're being removed from the group. Please keep this in mind for the future. Thanks!
