Sports & Hobbies groups near Hurst, TX

Pick-up soccer in North Arlington and the Mid-Cities area. Outdoors for starters, will look into doing it Indoors once we have enough people interested.

This is how we roll: 

** SOCCER **

1. Bring a white jersey and a black or other **dark** color one to be part of one team or another (note: light grey has gotten me and others confused in the past, please avoid that color for your jersey if possible).  Shin-guards are highly recommended.

2. We play for periods of 15 minutes with 3-5 minute breaks in between. 

3. We have all levels of players so even if you can, don't play too aggressively, don't get anyone hurt. We are doing it for the fun and the exercise so these are not championship matches. Chances are you will end up with a different group of players every time.

4. Bring your own water or sports drinks (and cooler). There is a water fountain there but it does not cool the water and it is a little bit of a walk from where we play. Arlington Parks and Recreation **prohibits** the consumption of alcohol on their properties, even while in your car at the parking lot. 

5. We pick up our own trash. There are a few trash cans nearby (at least 2 close than he water fountain). If you have empty water bottles or any kind of trash, please put it where it belongs.

6. Please join the group if you plan to attend and have not joined. Tell your guests the same thing, please. It helps us plan accordingly and it helps you stay up to date. If you don't have meetup.com configured to send you email notifications about the activity of the this group [or if you do but don't read them :-) ], please be sure o visit the group page. Use the Discussions functionality, either at the group or event level.

7. Game rules. 
     a) We play with no goalie. Please do not block the goal, play defense instead. 

     b) When out of bounds or a goal is scored, the ball is just put back into play by the corresponding team. There are no throw-ins, we just start playing again, unless it is a corner kick, we do take corner kicks.

     c) If you need a break before the game is over (e.g. when I forget to start the timer), just tell your teammates and take your break. 

     d) Have fun... lots of fun!!

** NOT SOCCER **

Well... we started with soccer and the group is fairly new still. We intend to organize other sports or activities soon (like sand volleyball, mountain biking, hiking or anything else we can do at or near the River Legacy Park in North Arlington)

The Hoffen Foundation is a 501.c.3 charity which raises funds for children's causes including programs for children's hospitals, scholarships,and outings for children with differing diseases, disabilities, and socialeconomic challenges. Events include happy hours, sporting events, a pirate themed sunset dinner cruise, our popular "Little Black Dress Party" in September, and our annual golf tournament in October which has many volunteers dressed up on the holes celebrating the Halloween season.

Welcome to the NEWEST version of New 'N Town - People, Places and Possibilities ! We are still catering to NEW or NOT SO NEW to the Texas/DFW area, and those looking for some "FUN ON A BUDGET". Soon, we'll be putting even more of the Fun in Function and the You in Value... We will continue to focus on BUDGET MINDED local activites to include: cards, karaoke, comedy nights, movies, happy hours, dinner & drinks, sport and family day. Trips to local museums, zoos, and gardens. Day trips to new and exciting destinations in Texas!

Our group is comprised of adult members of all ages that are single, couples, and also married members! We just welcome GREAT friends! We are not a "dating" group per se, nor specifically a business networking venture. Mainly, WE ARE A SOCIAL GROUP, and we all come together for fun, friendship, and fellowship!

We will boat mostly at Joe Pool Lake , but we will visit Lake Lewisville, Lake Ray Hubbard, Eagle Mountain Lake, Brazos River, Lake Texoma, Possum Kingdom Lake among other local lakes.

Join this friendly group and you will not be disappointed.  We will be having fun in the sun all summer long out at the lake! 

We need boat owner and people ready to have fun! We will even do some camping on weekend. 

Fees will range from $10 to $30 per person depending on which lake we are at, how many people come out, the price of gas, how much beet you bring ;) etc. We will try to keep it around $20 per person per outing.

Fees include boat, gas for the tow vechile, gas for the boat, equipment, Insurance and so on. If you don't have your own let me tell you boating is an expensive sport so please be considerate and hit the boat captain up with some cash to help cover expenses if you don't have your own boat. 

*If you bring a boat, you will not be charged and will be given money for gas*

What's it all about?

We have fun! Meet people locally in your area and come out for a fun time on the water as we paddle into the Sunset!  We provide a complimentary kayak paddling lessons and demos in case you are new to the sport. Kayaking is fun for all ages! It is easy to learn and fun to do. Sit back and relax while you make your way around the rock ledges at Rockledge Park on Grapevine Lake. 

We provide kayak rentals to anyone looking to join us. If you have your own kayak, bring it on out and enjoy the water with us! We will surely have some paddlers out here to kayak alongside with you. Bring your friends and family and come visit the beautiful Rockledge Park. There are shaded pavilions, BBQ grills and scenic views for your friends and family to sit back, relax and enjoy the lake while you join us on the kayaks.

This group is for anyone interested in playing Euro board games. New to the hobby of Euro-board games? Not a problem! All experience levels are welcome.

We primarily play games commonly identified as "Euro-style" or "balanced strategy" games. Some of the most popular games in this genre include Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico, the Castles of Mad King Ludwig, or Food Chain Magnate. We also frequently play social deduction games like The Resistance or team games like Code Names.

We do NOT play "annihilation" games like Monopoly or Risk. We do NOT play party games like Cards Against Humanity or Taboo. We do NOT play classic games like Chess or Scrabble. Most of the games we play take between 20 minutes and 3 hours.
