Sports & Hobbies groups near San Antonio, TX

When people think "nerds" they picture what they think are weirdos with no social lives or friends who spend all their free time in a dark room playing Fortnite or pondering their D&D characters hobbies! While.. some of that might be true.. (my elf loves a good hunting expedition in the swamp...) it's mostly bologna! Let's get out and do some fun stuff together! We'll get together for happy hours, fun events that pop up and whatever we can think of!

This group is intended for adults 18+ who want to play pickup sports of any kind. Pickup basically means that if you RSVP and show up, you get to play.

I intend to keep the group free, and the sport which is practical for that is basketball. Basketball is the main focus, but expect some other cool activities such as football, billiards, pickleball and ping pong

Occasionally we will plan social events too. This group will be a great way to get exercise and make new friends!

Things to consider on who should come, what you might get out of attendance, as well as what to bring with you to a meetup other then just a desire to learn more and do more:

- If you're new to lock picking, then this will be a great time and place to learn

• If your experienced in lock picking and locksport, then come out, most likely we will be able to learn from your knowledge, also you can challenge yourself with a variety of locks, bring a challenge lock that you have re-pinned yourself, or just hang out and take a break from usual.

• All ages welcome and encouraged to come out and experience this sport, we all can learn despite age, orientation, etc... we gather for the sport or science of locksport. (keep in mind only 21+ may consume alcohol in Texas, caffine might be your preference though depending on venue choice for the meetup of course.)

• We provide basic lock picks if needed. Also well we do have kits available for purchase so that you can continue your studies at home on your own time. Although if you already have your own, please bring them it's always interesting to see what different pickers choose for their tools of choice everyone has their own preference and style.

• If you have any old locks you want to bring, we'd be happy to help you defeat them. (Please keep in mind, only locks you no longer depend on, as picking a lock can destroy them over time.)

NOTE: A large majority of our community members don't rsvp for the meetups, but there are always people there.

We are a group of athletes, movers, shakers, thinkers, teachers, coaches, performers, and dreamers dedicated to sharing and advancing the sport of Parkour in San Antonio and beyond! A Good Paddling and Adventure is a multi-sport and adventure association. Our focus is to bring together interested members of our surrounding communities who enjoy being in the glorious outdoors and spending time with like-minded individuals. All skill levels are welcome so don’t let inexperience intimidate you. We help interested people come together, we will provide a place to plan trips, you will meet new people, learn new skills and try new types of outdoor activities! From hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, road/mountain biking, camping, kayaking, white water rafting and scuba diving, we can facilitate all types of trips that our members are interested in.

Membership is not required to come on GPA trips, but it does have great benefits. All memberships entitle you to discounts on our professionally guided trips, plus deals at local shops, sporting goods stores and more!

Membership is the primary driving force behind A Good Paddling and Adventure, all ideas for trips come directly from club members. We will gather suggestions and plan trips accordingly. We will offer the our members the opportunity to form a group and plan out the activity they are interested in, work out the details and logistics of the trips and have it lead by a club member with the right experience. <br>

Let's explore the city on Inline or Quad Skates. We welcome all skill levels. You’ll be partaking in recreational fitness. We will skate parks, trails, streets and neighborhoods.

You'll need water, skates, and protection. A helmet, wrist guards, elbow and knee pads are recommended... but skate at your comfort level.
