Cascade Hunting Retriever Club

Cascade is an official Hunting Retriever Club (HRC club). We have been in existence since 2013. Our members continue to work hard to support retriever training days and events.

During the off-season from Upland & Waterfowl hunting, Cascade puts on a monthly training day (February-August) at Pat Murphy’s Training Grounds in Snohomish, where we work on land and water retrieves (dependent on weather conditions), providing dead birds to train with. We are a fun, friendly, inviting group of dog owners, looking to continue training our dogs to become the best retriever they can. We encourage new owners to this sport, come out and see what we are about, you and your dogs are always welcome!! Many members are willing and able to take some time to work one-on-one with you as you start out with your pup (or older dog who is just starting).

As a Chapter of HRC, Region 14, Cascade puts on a yearly Hunt Test the first weekend in April at our training grounds. We are always in search of volunteers, which is a great way for new handlers to observe and learn!

So we are going to use 24 Hours fitness dance practice room instead of paying expensive place for doing dance with just 3 or 4 people. So far, I used my premium membership to bring two buddies with me when we use the practice room but from early March, they mentioned all of us should have the membership to use the room. I think having 24 hours fitness membership is cheaper than borrowing some place for now. I hope more people shows up regularly so that we can reserve our own practice room and share the fee in the future. Until then, unfortunately you need membership to enjoy this hip-hop meet up. New to pickleball? Come play inside on reserved courts with other beginners. We’ll play round-robin/open play games. Events will include some experienced players to help explain rules. Surf Fishing Coastal Beaches

Let's head out to the Washington Coast for some Surf Fishing. One of the easiest to catch and best eating fish in our state is the Redtail Surfperch. Oh yes, fish tacos or good old fried fish and tartar sauce! The real goal of this group is to make friends, get out on the beaches, and enjoy our coast that is virtually untouched and wild. The main beaches we will be fishing are Rialto Beach, Ruby Beach, and Kalaloch Beaches. Once you're out on the Olympic Peninsula why not go for a hike on the many trails in the rain forest or just spend time beach-combing until the best ocean sunset appears. All levels of fishing skills are welcome, beginners to advanced. Surf fishing is a fairly simple sport. A medium/light 9' spinning rod, waders and a bucket are the basics for gear. I will a give more exact list of gear and " how to's", as events come up. I also have some loaner rods and reels for people who want to just give it a try. The northern beaches in our state have a slightly steeper drop off, so it is not necessary to wade too far into the waves. Usually, you just step into the water, make a cast and then step backwards out of the water. The bait/lure will drift in towards you. Just repeat, cast,-drift, etc. Catch fish!! And if time allows it would be nice to have a fish fry back at camp after a day of fishing. Of course people should be relaxed, positive, patient, team players, and it's helpful if you have a good sense of humor. If this group takes off, there will be others types of fish to chase. From streams, lakes, rivers, to ocean fishing. Suggestions are always welcome. It is required that you attend the Zoom meeting before going on a Meetup with this group. Thank you for your cooperation. Safety is something we stress. For example, only wade into the water as deep as you are comfortable. Never fish in a storm. Never turn your back to the ocean! Watch for riptides. Watch the waves as they come in cycles, first a set of small ones, then a set of larger ones! Our Bunco (Bunko) group is very different: We are the original bunco (bunko) group on meetup in this area AND THE LARGEST!!! We are innovative and know that everyone has a busy lifestyle these days which requires flexibility. Therefore, we are not based on a "core" group of 12 bunco (bunko) players, but a group that is 1st come, 1st serve in responding to emails announcing next night of play. We play with 20-40 players a night and therefore have a decent size cash prize for 4 bunco (bunko) winners. Sometimes we do raffles for cool prizes or have give-aways. There is always a networking table at every game night, so ladies bring your materials to share with others. We prefer having potluck style dinner instead of someone paying for everyone's dinner. The only screening we do is for ages 18-100, and that you are female. Join our bunco (bunko) group, get the email, and decide when you're available to play without the pressure of having to play each month. There are absolutely NO OBLIGATIONS to be informed by the email updates, just being a member of our meetup bunco (bunko) group will do it.

The Details: We play on a Friday night, once a month. Prepayment ($11.00) is required so that we can pay for the rental hall & supplies & to ensure a commitment from our players. After the rent is paid, the balance of the money is given away in cash prizes. The hostess does not keep any money other than what was used to buy minimal supplies such as name tags or paper plates, etc. We do not play during the summer or close to the holidays, at the end of the year. Nothing to interfere with your family plans or vacations. Newbies come at 6:30pm for a mini bunco (bunko) lesson. Seasoned players show up at 6:45pm. We do potluck game nights, instead of hostess supplied food. We currently play at a very nice rented hall in Bothell Lynnwood area next to I-5 - so there is no pressure to host, ever!
