Welcome! This is a group meant for Registered Nurses, specifically new nurses who want to make friends in the city. With our crazy day or night schedules whether it’s 8, 10 or 12-hour shifts, it can be tough to find like-minded people like us to connect with especially fresh out of nursing school. It can be a challenge to connect with others who aren’t in the healthcare field. It’s an awkward time for us all and I wanted to create this group to have some good solidarity, laughs, dark humor and fun times together. Let’s support each other through this new nursing career journey! I would like to plan some virtual and in-person events so we can get to know each other! Since nursing is one of the toughest professions out there, it’s important to hear each other out so I would love to plan a monthly Zoom meeting just so we can hash things out and support one another. And of course, we can’t forget Happy Hour, Brunch Dates and Nights out on the Town. There’s so many things we can do together. Can’t wait to meet you all soon\~

We are a Wine and Dine Group! We share some good (sometimes Great!) bottles of wine over food and conversation. A few times per month, we have small group dinners, either 6, 8 or 10 people at each event. The group organizers will host dinners on both weeknights and weekends. The organizer will supply 4 bottles of wine for 6 person dinners, 5 bottles of wine for 8 person dinners, and 6 bottles of wine for 10 person dinners. Most of the time, the wines will come from the event organizer's personal collection. The cost of each event will be for an individual's share of the wine and in some cases the wine corkage charge of the restaurant. Dinner is not included and must be paid for at the event. To attend an event, the wine payment must be made in advance, and reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. Once you pay, refunds or credits are only available if you cancel AND your spot gets filled by someone else. All refunds are subject to a $3 cancellation fee. There is no refund or credit for no-shows. No other outside wine will be permitted, unless prior arrangements have been made with the host, but attendees may order wine or spirits from the restaurant, at their own expense. Attendees are expected to order at least an entree and one other item from the menu, either an appetizer, a side dish or a dessert. Along with the wine charge, everyone will be expected/required to pay for their own meal, along with a 33% charge for tax and tip. We will be dining at restaurants that we have established relationships with, where we can bring our own wine for us to enjoy. Corkage varies from restaurant to restaurant, from Zero to $25 per bottle. This group is for wonderful, friendly women who like to socialize, go to live music and other shows, museums etc to make friends. If you are looking for great friends and fun times, you will fit right in. This is a woman’s only group. If we are going to a music or similar show, I always set the event time for an hour earlier so we can chat before the show starts. Of course, you can arrive at a time that is good for each of you. I had 50 free events last year and have had over 370 events in a little over 2 yrs. They are all in the evening. I do 2, sometimes 3 events a week. I spend a lot of time looking for fun and interesting, free and discount events, and running the group. There are dues to join FF. $30 a yr to attend free events only and $60 a yr to attend free and paid events. Dues and events are paid through PayPal under the “family & friends” option or thru Zelle, at your bank, both at 973-202-8298. My Venmo is @Barbara-Silverstein-7. At Venmo please also make sure you use the “family and friends” option otherwise a fee is taken out with Venmo, same as with PayPal. Dues are paid when you join and paid events when you RSVP. I purchase tix to shows mostly at discount prices so that we are assured of sitting together. All tickets must be paid for when I post a paid event and you RSVP. For full price shows at City Winery, money is paid in advance so I can purchase tix. There is no service charge as I have an annual membership there. You save anywhere from $5 to $12 per person at these shows. We have been to great shows there, including, but not limited to, seeing Kevin Bacon and his brother twice; Bettye LaVette, a long time soul singer in her 70’s, who btw, still has it; a benefit for gun safety and other great artists, Sophie B. Hawkins and Suzanne Vega. I have many websites where I can get discount tix for shows. Some of these websites charge for my membership. Even though I don’t know where our seats will be, we all sit together and I have never gotten bad seats. City Winery has no food/drink minimum. Most other places do. I keep my eye out for free or discount tix daily. I only set up shows for later in the day/ evenings due to medical issues that I have. I occasionally post info about activities that I can not attend but which I think members might be interested in as well as great deals, such as sample sales. Looking for women to host daytime activities. \*\*\*A lot of women cancel from attending free events at the last minute or next to last minute or simply do not show up. That is not fair to women on a waitlist or to me as I spend a lot of time setting up events. I keep track of these women and if you cancel twice last minute without good reason you will be placed on probation. After a 3rd time you will be dropped. Other groups do this as well.

Brooklyn Pickup Soccer is a Brooklyn Based coed soccer group that plays year-round. Founded by John Thomas in 2008, this group has grown and evolved to over 10,000 members, hosting numerous pickup games all over Brooklyn. Everyone is welcome to attend (so long as people RSVP and respect our rules). Games tend to play on an intermediate level to semi professional level. Each session has a per player fee of $2-$3. A small part of this fee goes to cover our overhead (e.g., meetup.com dues, equipment upgrades, laundry, etc.). SOFTBALL INC. NYC is a recreational coed softball league. We have 2 permitted fields and meet Sundays in Central Park on the North Meadow, Field #9, at 10:30AM and play two games. Game 1 starts at 11AM, we take a short break and play our second game at 1PM. Finishing by 3PM. There is a $5 fee each week for this event, and a 1X seasonal equipment fee of $20. Venmo or cash on game day. Please bring your own glove! Games are posted each week. If you want to play, you must RSVP on Meetup for this event. NO EXCEPTIONS! If the RSVP list is full, please join the waiting list. Important, please read waiver information below.
