What we’re about
Welcome to the Fresh Start Photography group!
If you enjoy meeting with other photographers to discuss, learn and actively engage in honing your skills as a photographer, this is the group for you! Whether you are just starting out or have been photographing for years, there is always something new to learn and photograph. We offer formal presentations and/or critiques every 3rd Thursday of each month at the Salem Church Library from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. We also schedule regular meetups to practice photography in local and out of town settings such as gardens, events, parks and more. Come join us!

Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Photograph Williamsburg Wildlife (1-2 day event) - Hosted by Kim WillitsGreensprings Interpretive Trail, Williamsburg, VA
Take your wildlife knowledge from our April meeting to the field, specifically the trails in Williamsburg! There's lots of birds and other critters to photograph in the shallow waters along the trails and boardwalks. Depending on the amount of wildlife, we may visit more than one location.
Multi-Day Event or One Day: It's up to you! Plan accordingly if you choose to travel on May 7th so that you arrive at the trail parking lot by 9am. If you are running late, you can access the trail and find us near the water - use the image I uploaded in the Photos section to guide you to where we will be (path marked in RED).
Accommodations:
If you plan to stay overnight, you can stay at the Wyndham Governor's Green resort (This is a general Google search link because there are multiple outfits that can make your reservations - Expedia, Booking.com, etc.) This is a gated resort and you will be required to check in and get your hanging parking tag at the main office. There are plenty of other places to stay around town, but this is the recommended location. Please note that if you decide to stay elsewhere, ensure that you know where and when to meet up for the following day (May 8th) before you depart from the group on May 7th.What to Bring:

- Quarterly Critique - Wildlife - Kim WillitsSalem Church Library, Fredericksburg, VA
We'll focus our critique on photos taken from our recent wildlife meetup, however all photos are welcome. This critique gives photographers a chance to receive feedback from what they learned in our April Meeting on Wildlife, and how they applied it to their photography at our meetup. It also encourages those that did not attend the meetup to see some of our meetup experience, as well as view how other photographers were able to apply what they learned in the field.
Quarterly Critique:
This will be our formal critique. A facilitator will review each photo and offer comments and suggestions. Members will also have a chance to offer comments about each image. We will make adjustments to the critique format as necessary.
This will be a friendly and supportive critique. Please upload four photos to the photos section of this meeting at least seven days prior to the meeting. It's not mandatory that you upload photos, but it's strongly suggested.
Please follow the guidelines & instructions below for uploading photos:
Guidelines for Uploading Photos
For suggested Critique Elements:
It is by sharing our work and getting constructive criticism that we grow as photographers... :)
See you there...
