See all- The Maltese Falcon (1941) movie screening - detective/film noirThe Gamer Club, Glasgow
The Maltese Falcon is a 1941 American film noir written and directed by John Huston[3] in his directorial debut. Based on the 1930 novel The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett, this remakes the 1931 film of the same name.
Starring Humphrey Bogart as private investigator Sam Spade, Mary Astor as his femme fatale client, and Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet as villains, the film follows a life-and-death quest for a jewel-encrusted falcon statuette in San Francisco.
The film premiered in New York City on 3 October 1941, and was an immediate success, eventually becoming one of the first 25 films selected by the Library of Congress to be included in the National Film Registry as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".The movie will start at 7:30pm sharp but join us from 7pm for a glass of wine or cup of tea and lets chat about great film noir and detective movies.
There will be time afterwards to stay and discuss the movie if you'd like.
As always, remember to check out our chat room on Matrix at #movies:glasgow.social (invite link: https://glasgow.social/matrix)
The event is completely free, and open to all. There are some drinks/snacks provided (there is a donation tin) and you are welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks (alcoholic drinks are fine too!).
