What we’re about
You don't need your own dog but you probably need to like them! We are a people and dog-friendly group, typically taking a 2-3 hour walk with 25-30 people (and 25-30 dogs!) every other weekend in Gloucestershire or nearby. We also have evening walks in the summer, activities like canoeing and weekends away.
Gloucestershire Walking with Dogs is run as a voluntary, amateur social group (your Meetup membership terms include a release of liability for group organisers). Think of it as joining a group of friends for a walk, where you are responsible for the safety and actions of yourself and your dogs.
Like any responsible walker, we expect everyone to close gates, put dogs on leads around livestock, and take other reasonable steps to stay safe and be courteous to landowners and other users of the areas we visit.
We ask regular walkers to make a suggested donation of £10 a year to cover our Meetup subscription costs of around £200 a year, with any extra going to charity. Ask Ben for bank transfer details or pay by card (one-off or monthly) here:

See all- Seaside trip to Sand Bay (longer drive)National Trust Car Park, Weston-super-Mare
Slightly longer drive this time (worth some car sharing), let's have a trip to the sea! This is a visit to the Sand Point beach just north of Weston, about 1h15 drive from Cheltenham.
We'll meet at the National Trust car park in Sand Point (paid parking). Then it's a steep walk up to the cliffs, we'll walk for about 2 miles / 1 hour along the top, then come down and walk along the beach for another 2 miles out and back to the car park, where you can head off or hang around on the beach for longer. All off lead.
There is some outside space at the tea rooms if they’re open in April and depending on weather. And last time there was an ice cream van but no promises.
Sand Point, Near Weston-super-Mare, BS22 9UD or here it is on Google Maps (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Sand+Point+National+Trust+Car+Park/@51.3884122,-2.9710592,15z/data=!4m12!1m6!3m5!1s0x4871f95e847c0a51:0x604c4417c8eb487e!2sSand+Point+National+Trust+Car+Park!8m2!3d51.3886716!4d-2.9638001!3m4!1s0x0:0x604c4417c8eb487e!8m2!3d51.388672!4d-2.9638007)
Take junction 21 off the M5 and follow the A370 towards Weston, then look for signs for Sand Bay. Follow these all the way to Sand Bay and a T junction at the water, then turn right onto Beach Road and follow all the way down.
Attending is free. If you come to lots of walks, we have a voluntary suggested donation of £10 a year to cover our Meetup subscription costs of around £200 a year, with any extra going to charity. Ask Ben for bank transfer details or pay by card (one-off or monthly) here:
