
What we’re about
I created 555 Meditation when I struggled to get my own meditation practice started. Every morning, I'd set my alarm for 4 am, hear the obnoxious alarm music, yell at Google to "Stop the alarm!", and go back to bed. I had the willingness to meditate but could not put it into action. So, I tried to come up with a plan to get myself going in the morning. I needed something, someone to hold me accountable.
I decided I needed a commitment. I need to do something for somewhere else that would also benefit me. I decided to provide a space for anyone who wanted to begin a meditation practice or to continue one, for free, online. So, I started 555 Meditations. It is a daily meditation prace that starts every day at 5:55 am and lasts for 20 minutes. Why 5:55? 1) I need to get out of the house by 6:25 am to make coffee at my local 12-Step meeting, and 2) I love the symbolism of 555 ... Big changes happening. -- and that's how I think about 555 Meditations: Small steps, Big change.
Each day has a different theme: Monday (Metta and Heart Practices), Tuesday (Basic Techniques), Wednesday (Wild Card--Anything Can Happen!), Thursday (Thursday Themes), Friday (Focus Friday), Saturday (Sound Bath), and Sunday (Silent Sunday).
