Anyone who is interested in cybersecurity should join this group. The purpose of the meet up is to meet other infosec enthusiasts, discuss, exchange knowledge regarding cybersecurity, hack machines from Hack The Box dedicated to this gathering and enjoy.
In Hack The Box Meetups we support free training and everything is given for free to the community.
My name is Mike Erman, merman_fordpref on the Hack the Box Discord, and have been an IT and Cybersecurity Professional for over 30 years. The goal for the meetup is to help people interested in Cybersecurity build skills for the field and to help professionals already in Cybersecurity grow their skills.
The Hack The Box offerings are an amazing way to start this, and you can start even with just a chromebook and a browser tab.
With the meetup you'll be given access to a cyber range during the meetup through an emailed invite.
The goal is to build skills through hands on keyboard work, and to help each other navigate linux tools, man pages, help syntax, analyze information from tools, eventually exploitation, and to talk about remediation, detection, and response. In doing this you'll start to see hacking not as mystical art, but more of a methodical processing of information that anyone with a little curiosity and drive can do to help improve their skills and improve the security of their organizations.
Hacking isn't just offensive, using knowledge about your network and understanding the offensive, you can hack defenses together to alert you on illicit activity, stop attackers, and certainly frustrate attackers.
