What we’re about
Wer dieser Gruppe beitritt, ist herzlich dazu eingeladen, gemeinsam die philosophische Lebenskunst der Stoiker kennen zu lernen und über die Bedeutung und Anwendbarkeit im eigenen Alltag (Schule, Studium, Beruf, Familie etc.) zu diskutieren und auszuprobieren. Es sind keinerlei Vorkenntnisse erforderlich, ein allgemeines Interesse an philosophischen Themen ist jedoch wichtig. InteressentInnen bzw. Anhänger/innen anderer Philosophien oder einer praktischen Philosophie und Lebenskunst allgemein sind natürlich ebenfalls herzlich willkommen!
Philosophie in der Antike war keine theoretisch-akademische Disziplin, sondern praktische Lebenskunst. Eine fundamentale Frage war die nach dem geglückten bzw. glücklichen Leben. Ihr widmeten sich mehrere Strömungen: Die Stoiker waren eine der bedeutendsten philosophischen "Schulen" der griechisch-römischen Antike, ihr Einfluss wirkt jedoch bis heute nach. Die Stoiker propagierten innere Ruhe, Freiheit, Charakterbildung und Mitmenschlichkeit sowie stilles Glück in den Stürmen des Lebens.

Joining this group you are kindly invited to share the experience of learning about the Stoic ideas, and to discuss the meaning and practicability of this philosophy in your own daily lives, e.g. in school, studies, work, or family, and also to try it out. No knowledge of Stoic philosophy is required, however, a general interest in philosophical themes is important. Adherents to other philosophical traditions, or any other practical philosophy or way of living are also welcome to join this group!
Philosophy in antiquity was not just a theoretical, or academic discipline, but a practical art of living. One fundamental question asked was how to live a good and happy life. Dedicated to this endeavour were several schools of thought, the Stoic school being one of the most important in Greco-Roman times. Its impact, however, continues to this day. Stoics taught tranquility, freedom, virtue, and humanity, as well as happiness amidst life´s turmoils.
