What we’re about
This group was started for people thirty years old and over who wish to connect and create a community within the Hertfordshire area.
We connect over different activities such as walking (friendly dogs welcome), coffees and chats, bowling, dinners, quiz and comedy nights and anything else going on throughout Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.
I am hoping to meet people who live in Hatfield, Herts or neighbouring areas to make friends and connect.
Look forward to meeting up with you soon.

Cost to attend the event
If this is your first event with us, then you do not have to pay to attend, it's on us.Otherwise, its £5 to attend as a one off OR you can pay £10 annual membership and attend as many of our events as you like without having to pay again until January 2026 when our membership is renewed with Meetup.
We do not like to charge but it cost £240 to have a meetup account to organise events, so all contributions would be appreciated to keep our group going.
Payments can be made by clicking on this link, please select the "friends and family" option to avoid me having to pay a fee to receive your contribution, you do not need a PayPal account to make contribution.
The walks are often through open green spaces, around lakes, through forests, woodlands or parks. I know the walking route for each walk.
Its a good opportunity to meet new people, make friends, have a laugh and get some fresh air and be out in the day light especially during late Autumn, Winter and Early Spring.
Whilst points of interest may be shown on the walk, its not a historical walk nor are any historical talks provided. The purpose is to simply walk, talk and meet new people whilst being out in the open. We are not a clicky group, everyone talks with one another if they wish too.
I appreciate everyone walks at a different pace and generally the group walks together to walk and talk and we may stop of at certain points for a break or to take in the view. We try and stay together or within view to keep as a group. I try to organise the walk around a pub or coffee shop for members to continue on chatting post walk, there is no obligation to come along, its just an option if you wish. It would be nice to get to know you more.
The walk advertised is the walk we do, if you know the area and wish to walk further or shorter than the walk we take then you are welcome to do so. However as the host, I need to consider people who have signed up to come on this walk due to their own personal reasons i.e. medical etc
To keep up to date with this groups events, please consider subscribing to this group for free.
Please kindly refrain from posting photos of the event that includes other group members on our meetup page or your own social media without prior consent of those in your photo.
During the late Autumn, Winter and Early Spring all walks are subject to having favourable weather, if its too wet or windy, then please do keep an eye out on this page as the event maybe cancelled at short notice due to our unpredictable weather.
Well socialised and friendly dogs are welcome however please note no matter how friendly your dog is that some members may have a phobia or may not like attention from your dog so please be respectful of other members space. Especially if other members also have dogs they may also not appreciate interacting with other dogs or people. Please seek permission from the owner prior to petting their dogs.
Please note if you are not healthy to walk on different terrains , some with hills etc so if you have an existing injury or medical condition(s) (such as a breathing or heart condition) that could impede your ability to join in then please refrain from attending altogether to avoid harming yourself. Most walks are suitable for someone who is used to walking from 2-4miles distance, usually from 1-2hrs, this is a just an example if you are considering how long or far we walk.
As the organiser, I am not medically trained or a professional lead, I simply love to walk outdoors in natural day light, meeting new people whilst taking in the fresh air.
Please wear suitable footwear with good support for a variety of terrains and bring some water or medications if required. I do try and walk on tarmac or gravel during the wet muddy seasons but its sometimes difficult to avoid.
All walks are in areas that may include runners, cyclists, e-bikes, farm yard animals some wild i.e. deers etc, plants (in case of allergies), uneven terrain, possible potholes, hanging branches, exposed tree roots, wet leaves and other articles that you may need to navigate.
Please kindly refrain from attending this walk if you do not accept responsibility for yourself, accept the mentioned and similar risks. In addition , any insurance you require will have to be arranged by and for yourself.
Please note we aim to start the event on time so if you attend 10mins past the event start time, you will need to find us. Due to being in rural areas such as the woods, forests or populated areas sometimes the phone signal is not the best so I may not be reachable. I will share my location via WhatsApp on arrival, so please join our WhatsApp group.
Please join the Welwyn Hatfield Whatsapp Group to keep up to dates with news about this and other events.
As the organiser I like to make you aware of the above but so far this year everybody has been down to earth, fun and friendly, its just that we live in times when these things need to be mentioned so I certainly hope it has not put you off from attending.
Look forward to meeting you on the day.
P.S. This event maybe cancelled if due to the weather its not safe to walk and could be moved to another day or we could meet for a coffee and chat instead. Keep an eye here for updates.
P.P.S If you mark yourself as attending but cannot attend, please update your status so we know how many to expect. If you repeatedly fail to do so you will simply be removed from the group.
