What we’re about
This group is all about hiking with dogs! We mostly hike in the Sacramento foothills or high sierra east of Sac. We try to find places where the dogs can be off-leash responsibly. We limit the number of dogs that are allowed to join to keep the energy levels manageable and to make it easier to be off leash. We are not a fast paced hiking group. We take our time, enjoy the view, take pictures, chat and generally have a good time!
We do not allow dogs with prong collars or shock collars to attend our hikes.
We also do not allow dogs that are unaltered. All dogs must be spayed/neutered.
All hikers must clean up after their dog, pack it in-pack it out.

See all- Folsom LakeWillma Cavitt Junior High School, Granite Bay, CA
This hike starts at the Jr high school parking lot. We will meet there, then we will hike on-leash from the parking lot about a 1/2 mile through the school and down a heavy traffic trail to the lake area. We will stay on leash until we get past the levee. Once we get past the levee, we will let them off- leash to play. Then we will hike along the waters edge for a couple miles, then turn back. We will leash up as needed when encountering other dogs, kids etc. This is a leisurely walk and there is plenty of time by the water for all to enjoy. Bring your water shoes if you want to wade with the dogs. You can also bring a bathing suit and go for a swim!
RSVP for the number of dogs - 1 dog = 0, 2 dogs = +1. If I have not met you before, please dont bring more than 2 dogs.
Park in the parking lot before you get to the actual school entrance, see the map pin at this link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/LSdbj77Wc66jgCaCA
Plan to be there 5-10 minutes early so we can be ready to go on time. We will not wait for people who are late.If you choose to let your dog off-leash you must have voice control over your dog and keep your dog in sight. Please clean up after your dog. If you want to take off on your own, let your hike leader know.
- Magnolia RanchMagnolia Ranch Trailhead, Pilot Hill, CA
Description: This meandering trail, also called Gerle Loop trail is beneath the canopy of foothill oak woodland.
We will start out going to the Left & stop off at a little beach shortly after & travel the trail loop clockwise. We will walk along the river stopping off at various spots for dogs to drink and play.
I rate this hike as moderate for difficulty. We hike at a leisurely pace and stop often for pictures, water breaks, dog play etc.More info on the trail: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/california/gerle-loop-trail
