- • Join us whether you are new or experienced in Hiking. There are different levels, but we all share one common: using our legs to move up down hills. Most of the time on dirt trails, but there are different terrains: rocky or gravels or in water, river or mud; different settings: mountain, forest, wilderness or desert.
• Contact us if you are interested to join the Organizer Team and organize Hikes local OC or out of town Hikes to those who share the same interest. Our wide open calendar will fill with events during the weekdays, but mostly the weekends. Our events or trips are generated by volunteer effort and time of volunteer organizers.

• Once or twice per month, there will be events or trips that require payments. These are costs to cover your expenses and fund raising to "HikingOC Fund".
• "HikingOC Fund" will generate profit after the costs from events monthly. It will maintain the group website, support all HikingOC volunteered organizers who contribute to build this hiking group, an outdoor active community and to donate to the good causes or charities.
• If you like to do a great cause in honor our group name, please support helping those affected by disasters or the National Park Services (we hike on many lands of the National Parks.) We are sure your support is highly appreciated and rescues the unfortunates! There are many Non-Profit Organizations, please contact direct AMERICAN RED CROSS ORANGE COUNTY CHAPTER for more info

Santiago Oaks/Weir Canyon, special hike this late afternoon/evening at sunset.
MEET TIME: 5:45 PM
General Rating/Difficulty: Levels 2/2+ for distance, elevation and pace.

We are starting out on a trail from the top with the view on the high entering the park. There won’t be much shades on the trails and include some hills for a good workout. Terrain can be uneven so shoes with good traction are recommended.
Your canine buddies are required to be on a leash at ALL times as a courtesy and safety to all hikers, Please obey park rules!
NOTE: Rain or extreme heat or low attendance may cancel hike. Please check meetup on the morning of the event.
About Santiago Oaks Regional Park: Lying peacefully in east Orange alongside the Santiago Creek, the 1,758-acre Santiago Oaks Regional park is a nature lover's paradise. This secluded refuge offers hikers, bikers and equestrians the natural charm of mountain vistas, an orange grove, a meandering creek and a mature forest of many different species of trees. Wildlife abounds and a series of interconnecting trails leads through shady groves and to a lookout that features an awe-inspiring view of Orange and the surrounding foothills.
DIRECTIONS:
From Serrano Ave. in Orange, continue to Hidden Canyon. For your GPS or internet map program - use the closest house address of 7081 East Avenida De Santiago, Anaheim. We will meet at the trailhead by the street parking.
NOTE: This is a residential neighborhood so please be respectful by keeping voices low (turn your boom box down).
NECESSITIES: Adequate water (1 to 3 liters), snack, hat, sunscreen, hiking or trail running shoes, and a friendly attitude.
OPTIONAL: Trekking Poles, camera, binoculars.

Join us for a workout or it can be a training for regular hikers. Peters Canyon is a dog friendly trail.
Hiking time: 7 AM
General Rating/Difficulty: All Levels: Slow to Fast/Beginning to Advance: for distance, elevation and pace.

- Everybody should have good tracking shoes or traction running shoes
- loose clothes- shorts would be fine since its warm out there

DIRECTIONS :
Sometimes you may get a ticket if you park in the zone "NO PARKING anytime" Try to come early or park at Cedar Grove Park parking- From the 5 Freeway- exit Tustin Ranch Road and head towards the foothills and drive approx. 3 miles. Get in the left hand lane and take a left on Pioneer WAY (signal). Now get into the right lane and take the next right on Pioneer ROAD (signal). This road will wind around Cedar Grove Park. Continue to the first stop sign and take a left on Peters Canyon Road (stop sign). Take this road down around a little curve and park on the right side of the curb at the end of the road. We will meet at the sign for Peter's Canyon Trail
- Another location for parking: Park in North Tustin. Address: 2158 Lower Lake Dr. , Santa Ana, CA 92705 Parking is on the parking lot or on the street. You'll be ahead of the group, so we'll meet with you at the portable potties 10-15 minutes after.
From North or Central OC, take the 55 Frwy exit Chapman Ave in Orange, go toward the mountains for 2.2 miles, then turn right on S. Crawford Canyon Rd for about 1 mile, then left onto Newport Blvd, then right onto Cowen Heights Dr, right onto Skyline Dr, then left onto Lemon Heights and continue to Lower Lake Dr.

This is a nice sunset hike on the hills of Laguna Coast Wilderness. It's one the most favorite/scenic trails in OC. The ocean views from the cliff at the end of Boat Canyon are like Hawaii, absolutely stunning!--- Boat Canyon above Laguna Beach ---
Sunset is at 7:25ish pmDEPARTURE TIME : 5 PM
DURATION/DISTANCE/ELEVATION: Plan on about 2.5+ hours for a hike from 5+ to 8 miles, elevation 800 ft to 1000+ ft gain.

ROUTE : We will meet at Gate 14 of Laguna Coast Wilderness. Since this is a residential area, we'll limit number of participants, only RSVP if you are sure to go. Boat Canyon is a ridge above Laguna Beach, after a mile uphill, we'll stop the lookout or continue on Boat Canyon Rd to Boomer Ridge Rd and time to 1.5 hours before turning back or complete the full route with a lollipop loop (down Laguna Ridge and up Big Bend before coming back Boat Canyon Rd to the trailhead).
ESSENTIALS : wear good traction hiking shoes, bring water. There is no shade on this hike, but a great view at sunset if it's clear. Bring wind breaker or a jacket as it's still cool near the ocean.
DIRECTIONS : We meet at Gate 14 LAGUNA COAST WILDERNESS TRAIL MAP (http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=8204)
Yahoo Map or Google to Dunnegan Dr and Dartmoor St, Laguna Beach. Please map your direction before hand and don't rely on your GPS alone as the trailhead is a bit tricky to find. Dartmoor St and Hillcrest Dr signs are under the tree branches, so it's tough for first time driving here. From Pacific Coast Hwy going south (pass Newport Beach, Corona Del Mar, Crystal Cove before reach to Laguna Beach), turn left on San Joaquin St (Viejo is the next light street), right on HILLCREST DR, Turn Left on DARTMOOR ST drive to the end.
From PCH going North pass Laguna Beach turn right on San Joaquin St (right after you pass Viejo, the street with light), right on HILLCREST DR, Turn Left on DARTMOOR ST drive to the endREMINDER:
