A last minute addition as a late change forced upon us has enabled us to fill a few more places than expected.
Hillbillies are welcome to join us on this amazing trip.
This has been on our bucket list for many years but this is a very special place for very special people so please read carefully before committing to taking part.
A bit like a Scottish El Dorado or Camelot, Glen Affric has been hailed by many walkers as a holy grail of UK walk destinations and the title of the Finest of Scotland's Glens has not been given lightly.
The glen begins amongst the steep, bare mountains of Kintail far in the west. Further downriver is beautiful Loch Affric, at the foot of the highest mountains north of the Great Glen. The middle part of the Glen is a National Nature Reserve, magnificently wooded with Scots Pine - one of the last remnants of the original Caledonian Forest.
The crown jewels are of course the hills with Carn Eighe being the tallest peak often walked with Mam Sodhail but there are loads of munros to choose from or you can just enjoy the amazing unspoilt scenery at a lower level.
Our plan has changed very slightly due to the work being done with heavy machinery on the access track we were intending to use. We are now lift sharing as much as possible, meeting in Fort William at 9am on Sunday 15th June to finish any last minute food shopping, driving to the hostel at Ratagan to leave our cars there and walking in just 7miles to the hostel in Glen Affric where we stay for 3 nights. We then spend two clear days in the Glen with high and low level walks to suit the preferences of those taking part and then walk 14+ miles out towards the village of Morvich and on to SYHA Ratagan where our cars await us and a further (included) nights accommodation before going our separate ways on Thursday 19th.
THREE nights accommodation at Glen Affric and ONE nights accommodation at SYHA Ratagan are included. There is no vehicular access to the hostel in Glen Affric and so we need to carry, in addition to clothes, wash kit, towel and sleeping bag all the food, supplies and alcohol we need for our stay. We also need to carry all our rubbish out with us.
Basics like tea, coffee, milk, non-dairy milk and margarine are included as is the food for the three evening meals while we are in the Glen. Breakfast and lunch requirements need to be sourced individually for the 4 days in the Glen.
Accommodation is single sex bunk rooms and on this occasion sleeping bags are also required as well as towels.
The total cost is Β£217. This should now be paid in full when you book via BACS as Meetup charge a booking fee which on this amount will be substantial. Let us know when you pay this and we can add you to the event manually.
