Why Choose CHA Bradford?
✅ All Ages and Abilities Welcome: Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just starting, our friendly and diverse group caters to everyone.
✅ Variety of Hike Levels: Choose from three different hike levels: A, B or C walks, ensuring there's a perfect fit for everyone, regardless of your hiking experience and ability
✅ Seamless Logistics: Forget about transportation hassles! Our guides provide directions on how to reach your hike start point for our weekly Saturday walks so all you need to do is show up and enjoy the hike
✅ Sunday Coach Trips: Explore new horizons with our Sunday coach trips every two weeks, featuring breath-taking landscapes and scenic routes such as Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Lancashire and beyond. There are pickup points along the way and our members come from a wide breath of locations. Please see coach trip details for hike destinations and coach trip price.
✅ Guided Hikes: Each hike has a dedicated walk leader, most often with experience of leading groups ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. However, not all our walk leaders are qualified and although you walk at your own risk, it is thought to be safer walking in groups than individually
✅ Socialize and Relax: You can choose to socialise during the hike or if you prefer to get lost in nature and absorb the scenery you can. Wrap up your hike at a cosy pub or café, where you can relax, grab a drink, and connect with fellow hikers.
✅ Try Before You Commit: New joiners get three trials to experience the camaraderie and excitement before choosing to become a member.
✅ Exclusive Membership Benefits: Become a member for an annual fee of just £10 per person or £18 for couples. Enjoy club newsletters and a detailed yearly syllabus outlining upcoming hikes across all walking groups as well as social nights
✅ Extended Hiking Holidays: Beyond local hikes, we offer 2 yearly in country weekend trips away (we've been to Scotland, Wales, isle of Wright etc) and a foreign trip abroad for those craving more exploration and hiking (we've been to Greece, Spain, Majorca to name a few, and have The Lycian way and Crete to look forward to!)

Not the Pennine Way
Gargrave to Gisburn.
Distance: 11.00 miles
Ascent: 950 feet
Leader: Ronnie Wade
Todays walk is a easy walk to get your legs working after the Christmas & New Year break. The walk starts in Gargrave and follows the Pennine Way for a short way before leaving it to cross the canal to Green Bank. We then skirt around White Croft Hill to Ingthorpe Lane. This is then followed to Ingthorpe Grange. From there paths are taken leading to Gledstone Hall. Minor road has to be followed past the hall but we soon strike off passing Marton Scar on a track leading to Horton Pasture. It could be a bit muddy here as it passes through a farm yard. The track continues and leads into Rakes Lane which is then followed to Horton.
From there a minor road is taken leading through Horton Green but we soon leave the road to follow a bridleway past Painley Farm to ultimateley Little Painley and the bridge crossing Stock Beck by Keepers Cottage. From there I intend to use the tracks through Gisburne Park which will lead us to our destination at Gisburn. If this is closed to the public then we will have to go to Gisburn Bridge and follow Mill Lane into Gisburn instead. This would add a approx half a mile onto the walk..B Walk (moderate)
All Ways Lead to Gisburn
Long Preston to Gisburn.
we get off the coach in Long Preston, then we walk on the B6478 for 1 mile, till we come to Cow Bridge, where we join the Ribble Way, which we follow to Halton West(Town End),Paythorne Moor, Paythorne, then Gisburne Park, Gisburn,( 2 spellings of Gisburn 0S Map), 10 Miles, 700ft of climbing, footpaths, Bridleways...
Leader: Brian Martin**C Walk (Easier)
More Ribble Way
Halton Bridge to Gisburn
We get off the coach at the first left turn after joining the A682, just before Halton Bridge. We follow this minor road to Halton West to join the Ribble Way at Town End. At this point I will make a decision whether to take the footpath or stay on the road for a short while, as this is a very boggy section. This is a very short diversion so we will eventually follow the Ribble Way all the way to Gisburne Park where we will then take footpaths into Gisburn. The walk is 6/7 miles long with about 600 feet of climbing.Leader: Rita Schofield.
If you are coming out with our group on Sunday for the first time - please send a message and let us know where you wish to board the coach and we can make sure someone is there to look out for you.

Warrendale Knotts and Smearsett Scar
Settle to Helwith Bridge.
Leader: Ron Wade
Distance: 12.00 miles
Ascent: 2400 feet
The walk starts in Settle and initially follows the Dales High Way out towards Attermire Scar. However we strike off before the scar to follow a steep path leading up to the top of Warrendale Knotts. This is a good viewpoint over Settle. The route now takes us past Victoria Cave and down to Upper Winskill. Paths are taken to Catrigg to Catrigg (not the Force) from where we drop down to Stainforth. The Dales High Way is again picked up and followed until we turn off for the steep climb onto Smearsett Scar. This again is a good viewpoint After dropping down of the Scar a direct finish via the Pennine Bridleway could be taken but I intend to take paths through Wharfe & Oxenber Woods which links up with the paths through Jop Ridding and Newfield House to take us to Helwith Bridge.B Walk (moderate)
