This group is for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and babies looking to make new friends and learn about breastfeeding in a safe, small and supportive breastfeeding community. Meetings are moderated by Donna Bruschi, IBCLC, a lactation consultant with more than 20 years experience.
The Breastfeeding Café is a small, local community that aims to provide friendship, breastfeeding support and education. Mother-to-mother support is the most important factor in how much and how long you and your baby breastfeed.
Join like-minded people to talk about babies, breastfeeding, feeding, first foods, weaning and mothering a breastfeeding baby.
A meeting generally goes like this:
- Welcome with Introductions and "ice breaker"
- Discussion topic
- Sharing time for questions, challenges, and celebrations
- Closing
- Free time for conversations and exchanging numbers
Our meeting space is in Highland, NY. The space is clean and we use HEPA air filtration. If you or your baby are showing symptoms of illness, please come after you get better.

Can I nurse my baby during the group?
100% yes -- you can nurse in the group. You can also:
- nurse next to the group.
- You can cover or not.
- You can go into an adjoining room.
I'm not comfortable breastfeeding in public yet, do I have to?
100% No!
The purpose of this group is to normalize breastfeeding and explore ways to feel comfortable nursing in public. We understand that this may be new to you, and we meet you where you are at!
My baby bottle feeds, am I welcome?
Yes, you are welcome. Breastfeeding works differently for every family and sometimes, breastfeeding isn't possible at all. Often when breastfeeding does not go as planned, you are left wondering why it didn't work out. This group provides answers and healing. This group can be the first step in re-lactation, or successfully breastfeeding your next baby.
Do I have to talk?
You don't have to talk--you are welcome to sit back and observe.
Can I bring my own food?
You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks.
My family is "non-traditional." Will I feel comfortable?
Yes, The Breastfeeding Café group is for all kinds of families.
What about COVID, Flu, RSV, Mpox and TB -- Is this safe for my baby?
It's as safe as we can make it.
- People with symptoms must stay home.
- We have HEPA air filtration for continuous air cleaning
- Adults are allowed to wear masks
Can I just drop in?
No, space is limited and you must reserve your spot.
