Returning to Michigan after 11 years in NYC, I faced the challenge of launching a new career in the film & video industry. Traditional resources like online courses and YouTube lacked the personalized guidance I needed, so I pursued a one-year trade certificate in independent filmmaking, gaining expertise in both creative and business aspects.
Now, drawing from my experience, I offer hands-on workshops for self-taught visual artists and content creators struggling to navigate the industry. Unlike online tutorials, my in-person sessions provide non-judgmental feedback and insights from someone with practical industry knowledge. Owner and Instructor Caitlin Reid specializes in providing film training and video workshops for video and filmmaking enthusiasts looking to further develop their understanding of creative filmmaking techniques and key principals of videography and film production.
She started developing her workshops after working in a local camera shop and seeing other self-taught filmmakers, artists, and creators struggle with the same things she did before going to back to school and gaining industry experience.
Caitlin loves working with people from all backgrounds and knowledge levels, from focused beginners to veterans of related industries (e.g. photography) looking to expand their creative options. Her passion is breaking down the technicalities of videomaking to learners of different levels, with compassion and understanding. With her background that ranges from independent cinema to corporate marketing to technical training, she brings a wealth of experience to each session, ensuring that attendees are provided with insightful feedback and expert advice.
