Family Promise www.fpriverside.org is an integrated approach to tackle poverty right here in Riverside that “…reaches beyond simple, immediate needs. It initiates coordinated local efforts that bring communities together to help families experiencing homelessness, regain housing, independence, and dignity.”

The people of IEAAH are typically Humanist in our philosophy of how to view the world and treat its inhabitants. We are teaming up with the secular group, Family Promise of Riverside, one of 200 chapters nationally, because they offer us the framework to turn our humanistic compassion into action.

Besides the needed goods we collect from you at every event, our group has committed to provide and join in eating a hot meal with them in person once per month to the around 15 people within a few families who go through the program. Studies have shown that when a family sits down to dinner every night, this practice has far-reaching positive implications for not only helping to create a cohesive family unit but is also a predictor of the children’s later success in going to college.

Family Promise carefully chooses the families (only) they bring into their program based on a rigorous background check for both the safety of the volunteers as well as the success rate of the program, which is very high. After 4 months in the program, 82% of the families have jobs and are in their own housing. Science is great!

If you’d like to help and attend a dinner with us, Family Promise requires that each person goes through their brief training program to meet their insurance guidelines. When you come to any event for IEAAH, you can help by bringing laundry pods, full containers of baggies from yours. We have a GoFundMe Graphic Novel Go Fund Me Link to collect money to buy the much-needed graphic novels because it assists the children in learning to read when they sometimes aren’t able to attend school regularly. The second Saturday of every month we will go as a group to the shelter that rotates among several churches. They call this, “leveraging the religious communities real estate. You will be in a church building, but the church is not allowed to offer prayers, nor try to convert anyone and neither are we, as if that was something we’d do anyway. We'll supply prepared food from Costco.

Venue rotates among local churches. Currently, we're at Calvary Presbyterian, a great way to interact with kind Christians.
