I am using the open litter map to track picking up litter. I started a group on the open litter map site for Iowa City. I am hoping you will join the group, and we can meet to share what we are seeing, prevention strategies, team cleanups, and have some fun. You are also welcome and encouraged to join if you would prefer to not use the app as the goal is to reduce litter in Iowa City.

Tour the Can Shed!
Can Shed Iowa City, 1534 S Gilbert St #400, Iowa City, IA, USWe all know how much of the litter we pick up are beverage containers that should be redeemed for a deposit. Redemption centers like the Can Shed are making it easier to return those cans and bottles so they don't end up on our roadsides in the first place.
Join us for a tour of the Can Shed's new Iowa City location and see how simple it is to return your empties, and witness the fantastic machinery in action as it sorts, scans, and squishes the cans and bottles to be shipped off for recycling. We'll also hopefully learn a bit more about Iowa's Bottle Bill and how it helps prevent litter.
