What we’re about
Welcome to our Silver Spokes Cycling Meetup Group! We are a community of senior women cyclists (aged 50 and above) who enjoy leisurely rides ranging from 10 to 20 miles. We typically ride at a pace of about 12-14 miles per hour.
Our low-key, social group is perfect for those looking to meet new cycling buddies and explore the beautiful bike paths of Irvine, CA. We occasionally have some beginner and endurance-building, but most of our riders are at least somewhat experienced.
Come join us for some laid-back rides and good company. Let's pedal together and enjoy the scenic routes Irvine has to offer!
Helmets are required. Both road bikes and e-bikes WITHOUT THROTTLES) are permitted. If your bike will move without you pedaling, it has a throttle and it is a Class @ e-bike and you cannot ride it in our group. Beach cruisers are also not permitted on our group rides.
We ride regularly on Saturday morning from Irvine Civic Center Parking at 9 AM. The rides take place mostly on bike paths in and around Irvine. We may venture out as the group grows in size. I will occasionally plan a ride on a weekday or a Sunday. But, you should not expect that rides will regularly occur other than on Saturday.
We will adjust the pace to the experience of the riders, and rides will be "no-drop" (no rider left behind). However, you must be able to ride safely and be in control of your bike.
Cyclists will observe basic cycling safety rules such as passing only on the left, calling out ("on your left") when passing, calling out hazards, and obeying traffic signals.
