Welcome to the mid-March CAJUN meetup. We welcome Ada Wang speaking about HyperSurfaces. This meetup will be at the Akamai office in Kendall Square. See directions below.
Talk Details:
Computing Arrangements of HypersurfacesWe present a Julia package HypersurfaceRegions.jl for computing all connected components in the complement of an arrangement of real algebraic hypersurfaces in ℝn.
Speaker:
Ada is a second year Phd student studying applied math at Harvard University, supervised by professor Anna Seigal. Their research interest lies in applied algebraic geometry. In particular, they are interested in using algebraic geometry to solve problems in statistics and multilinear algebra.Time:
Arrival will be at 4:30. We'll plan to start the talk around 4:45 or 5pm. The talk will last 30-40 minutes.Location:
145 Broadway. The entrance is from Broadway. There's a security desk once you enter and they will sign you in.Important notes about arrival:
- There is ongoing construction at the building next door, so traffic on Broadway is a mess. It is advisable to walk, bike, take public transport, or park somewhere near MIT and walk.
- Please bring some government-issued ID to the event (required by Akamai security). Non-US Passports are OK.
- Please RSVP by March 10 so that we can get all the names over to security. If you happen to RSVP after that date, please message Philip Tellis on the julia slack or in the #boston-local channel.
