We have been invited to attend a rolling & rescue clinic at the Touring Kayak Club of NY in City Is. Limited to 8 persons and car pooling is best as parking is limited on the street. You can drop off your boat & gear and then park, or if you find a close spot, grab it and wheel your boat & gear over. Please put in comments if you can carpool and where your location is. This is an open bay so please know how to paddle with waves, wakes,

Sea kayaks must be at least 14', no SOT'S, SUP's, INFLATABLES, Surfski's OK. PFD's must be worn, no PETS. Please dress for immersion. Pack a change of clothes in a dry bag and bring it with you.

Bring water, lunch, snacks anything you need for a day trip.

This is not a Liquid Skies event just posting to let paddlers know. I will be unable to attend.

The Sleepy Hallow Mermaid Festival is scheduled for Sat, July 19, 2025 @ Kingsland Point Park. It is open to those on land, and the river. Sups, kayaks all welcome. Details and time to follow.

There will be a parade on land & in the river. Festivities start at 12 noon & go to 4 pm. Get there at 11:30 am if you plan to kayak, SUP etc. Landlubbers can get there later.

There will be no organizer so you can meet there and make your own paddle either before or after enjoying the costumes and festivities on land. They may have some planned paddles so check with them. Come and wear your favorite mermaid/mermen/pirate outfit. Costumes are not mandatory. You should know how to assist/self rescue. Please be kind and watch out for each other.

Looking for experienced sea kayakers that know how to rescue swimmers, can self/assist & rescue other kayakers. This support for the Newburgh to Beacon Swim benefits the River Pool at Beacon. The 1 mile swim has over 100 swimmers and they need experienced kayak support. This is a way to give back for our use of the beautiful Hudson river. Liquid Skies is not running this event just supporting the swimmers. I will be unable to attend but Jim D has offered to organize our group to cross the Hudson. Please check in with him when you arrive.

Kayak escorts are required to attend a 1- hour mandatory safety class on July 23rd @ 7:00 pm, location in person 1 Arquilla Dr, Beacon, NY. There will also be a zoom mtg at the same time if you attend remotely. After you have registered with Beacon, they will send you a link to the zoom.

Swim is Sat, July 26 and the rain date is Sunday, July 27, 2025.

8:45 - 9:00 am - Kayakers cross over to Newburgh
10:00 am swimmers start to cross to Beacon
11:45 am kayaks out

Long Dock Park, 23 Long Dock Rd, Beacon, NY, no fee for kayakers.

We can have our lunch in Beacon on the benches after unloading our boats back to the cars. Please join us.

Must have all your own equipment and attend a safety meeting. The flotilla of kayak paddlers needs to be on hand to monitor, guide, and respond to any and all swimmers. If you have sufficient paddling skills to take part in this exciting event, please consider volunteering. Each person must sign up individually, no guests.

Please sea kayaks only 14' or longer, bring lunch, drinks, snacks, sunscreen etc anything you need to be out on the water. PFD's must be worn, no pets.

Please note that there is limited parking, get there early to unload your boat & gear and/or bring wheels and grab a parking spot 1st. We will meet at the dock. Thanks for joining and helping out on the river.

Please arrive early to get yourself situated. We will launch promptly at 10:30 am. Do not block the launch area, stage your boats on the side.

This is not a beginner paddle. We will go to Peck's Ledge light, have lunch and proceed to Sheffield Light. Possible stop at Calf Pasture on the way back for ice cream. You must be able to paddle at a pace with the group for 14 miles. Please stay in a pod and DO NOT GO AHEAD of the leader or lag behind the sweep.

Sea kayaks only 14' minimum, NO canoes, SOT's SUP's, Inflatables, Rafts or pets allowed. Surfskis Ok. Dress for immersion, pack sunscreen, lunch, water, meds anything you need for a day trip, a change of clothes, rain jacket, drytop etc. in a dry bag and put it in your hatch. PFD'S MUST be worn & fastened at all times. No exceptions.

This is a very scenic paddle thru islands, lighthouses so lets enjoy it.

Keep in mind that swells, currents, wind, tides, and other natural factors not found in inland venues will require vigilance and an honest self-assessment of your skills and conditioning before you decide to venture out. This is a gathering of people enjoying a common interest, not a guided tour, so your personal safety is your responsibility alone.

The DEEP Saugatuck state boat ramp is on Elaine Road in Westport, CT. Use 4 Elaine Road (which is the address of the Westport waste treatment plant) on your GPS, pass the plant on your left, and the animal shelter on your right. The road bends sharp right, and the driveway to the boat launch itself is immediately on the left. Parking is free, but we should also park nose-to-tail in the slots to avoid taking up too many spaces. There is a porta-potty there too. If you park behind someone make sure you will be paddling the same distance to not hold them up.
