What we’re about
Please read before coming, to know what you're signing up for.
We're a monthly read and discussion group for readers who like getting together and socializing over a good book.
Our aim is to meet monthly to discuss books that are enjoyable, substantive, and keep keep us turning the pages.
We'll be sticking to stand alone fiction books that have been out for at least six months to make sure they're easy to obtain. We'll by trying to avoid anything too sad, horrific, gorey, nightmarish, or sappy. We'll be favoring books read for pleasure and hovering around the idea of thriller, mystery, suspense, action, and adventure - things that will keep us glued to the page to see what happens next - but want to leave things fuzzy at the edges for finding great reads that will expand and challenge our expectations. As well as being able to get other's suggestions for books we haven't heard of and can't quite categorize.
We understand that the tradeoff for that may be that you have already read a particular book. As long as you are willing and able to have a friendly discussion of the book, you are welcome and we don't require you to reread it fresh. And it lets us suggest and pick some great books that passed us by. Or get a great recommendation from something someone may have already read and think the group will enjoy.
We have few requirements. Mostly just keep it a pleasant meeting. But we do require you to attend if the book the group is reading was your suggestion. We will be meeting where members who wish to have a drink can, so you must be old enough and well behaved enough to be at a public bar. Thus, 21 and over only, please. Finally, while we don't require anyone to RSVP, if less than 3 people have RSVP'd to say they're coming by the 24 hours before the meeting, we will cancel the meeting so no one ends up sitting alone when part of the point is getting out of the house and socializing.
Beyond that, we're just starting off, so come and be welcome and help shape what kind of group we'll become and what books we're going to read.

About Masters of Death:
Viola Marek is a struggling real estate agent, and a vampire. But her biggest problem currently is that the house she needs to sell is haunted. The ghost haunting the house has been murdered, and until he can solve the mystery of how he died, he refuses to move on.
Fox D’Mora is a medium, and though is also most-definitely a shameless fraud, he isn’t entirely without his uses—seeing as he’s actually the godson of Death.
When Viola seeks out Fox to help her with her ghost-infested mansion, he becomes inextricably involved in a quest that neither he nor Vi expects (or wants). But with the help of an unruly poltergeist, a demonic personal trainer, a sharp-voiced angel, a love-stricken reaper, and a few high-functioning creatures, Vi and Fox soon discover the difference between a mysterious lost love and an annoying dead body isn’t nearly as distinct as they thought.
