**This group is for women who live in the Lisbon metro area**
Hike Description:
We'll hike 14km along the coast of Sintra, starting from AlmoƧageme town and ending at Magoito beach. This hike goes along the seaside cliffs and descends to a number of beaches including Praia Grande, Praia das MaĆ§Ć£s, and finally Praia de Magoito. Total elevation gain is around 400m.Wear shoes with a good grip, bring at least 1.5L water, and snacks/lunch. We will aim to keep moving at a decent pace.
Magoito has 2 cafes/restaurants so there is an option for anyone who is interested to stop there after the hike or relax on the beach.
Meeting Time & Place:
Portela de Sintra train station - bus stop for 1624 (map). If you're coming on the train from Lisbon, exit the gates in the middle of the platform, go down the stairs and turn right to cross under the tracks. There are a number of buss stops there. We'll be catching bus 1624 at 9:30AM, and getting off in AlmoƧageme (here).I'll be taking the train that leaves Oriente at 8:36 AM, arriving in Portela de Sintra at 9:22.
If you are coming by car, you can park in Portela de Sintra area and catch the bus with us as this is not a circular hike (we'll return by a different bus).
Other Information:
This is not a circular hike. To return from Magoito beach, we'll take bus 1249 or 1254 back to Portela de Sintra (bus runs approximately every 30 minutes).Please bring 1 euro to contribute to the cost of running this meetup!
