Euchre friends!
Since meetup is
beginning to charge meetup fees, I have started a facebook page too. You can sign up to rsvp at the Facebook group:
Northwestern Suburban euchre group
Tell your friends! Rsvp there dont pay meetup fees! Go to stitch.com, it’s like meetup but free same name.
On Tuesdays we’ll meet at the side (indoor patio area behind the bar) at Timothy O’Tooles. Keep in mind, happy hour goes until 5:30 (previously 6 so make note of the change!)
Come early if you want to chat before or order some drinks and food. I’ll be there about 5:00. Once we have enough players, we’ll get started and set up additional tables as needed. If you’re just coming to play, please be there by 6pm (our official start time, or let me know you’ll be late so we can plan)
Previous events have been fun with new friendships and lots of laughs! This is a very casual group and at any skill level, we are happy to welcome you! We have taught many how to play so don’t feel intimidated - you get special treatment!
We play a very casual non competitive game.
- We throw jacks to determine the dealer at each table.
- We do not play stick the dealer.
- We play “bottoms up” - meaning if you are dealt three 9s or 10s, at your first turn, you may flip the three cards of proof in your hand and swap them from the bottom of the deck of undelt cards. This forefits a turn - your turn IS to bottoms up. You can of course keep what you are delt as you do not have to bottoms up.
- We play for silly fun - if your team’s score is 9, you moo or make farm sounds that you are “in the barn” (besides being fun, this also lets the other tables know that they should be close to finishing so we can switch tables)
- We play to 10.
***Scoring as followed:
- Makers win 3 tricks = 1 point
- Makers win all 5 tricks = 2 points
- Going alone and making less than 5 tricks = 1 point
- Going alone and winning all 5 tricks = 4 points
- Winners stay seated and losers move to the next table.
- IF trump is not played correctly or there is a renege, the most experienced person at the table will determine if the game folds and the opposite team receives 2 points OR if the error can be chalked up to experience level and can be forgiven. Becky or Bryan will make a determination if there is not a clear most experienced player at the table or if the playerS are unable to reach a kind and agreeable solution.
Please rsvp as it helps me to plan nametags (helpful for waitress too as we move seats) and if you add a guest/s please message me their name snd skillset.
~Dont rely on the numbers to rsvp. Many people like to play cribbage (I bring a board) and we can play a 3 hand euchre game. I’ll always sit out and this group of players are kind and will offer to sit out too - we make it work, so know you’re coming to a welcoming group with lots of fun and low stress and no competitiveness.
Please please remember to tip our waitress. This is generally a big group with players/patrons moving to different tables that can become extra work for our waitress and O’Tooles does not charge us to use the space. Be kind - be patient - tip generously, so please show the waitress some euchre love! As a rule, I ask the waitress to bring tabs at 730. Check your bills carefully, switching tables gets confusing for the waitress sometimes.
Also, there is a separate table with napkins, menus, water and glasses and condiments every week.
It’s a fun stress free night - enjoy!
Hope to see you soon!
